During the cold war, JFK claimed to have gone to the moon. He got congress to spend billions on his moon landing and pretended america landed there, convincing congress to give him billions, the fakeness of the landing is well documented.
It seems to me that this liberal moneybags, that he took these billions for personal use, or maybe gave them to the USSR (we all know he was soft on communism)
Perhaps his death was similarly staged in order to keep his billions or keep congress of his case.
I wonder if under an obama administration we will see more moon landings.
We may all have seen pitcher pumps. They are atmospheric pumps, pulling a partial vacuum over the water to let atmospheric pressure push it up the pipe. They only work for about two dozen feet down.
Then there are force pumps. Any deep well pump has to send energy or force down to the well-head, where it can push the water rather than try to pull it.
If you can't send electricity down, you can sometimes send water down. That's the way a jet pump works.
But for hand operation, or minimal energy expenditure, you will want to use a series of metal rods. They connect together all the way down to the piston where the water is, and some of them operate on push and pull strokes.
DC, the Cumberland General Store lists one (1) single-action windmill force pump for about five hundred bucks. What you would need is a design.
If that looks primitive, it is. It is also quite reliable. Note that the moving rod can be operated by hand or by an eccentric on a rotating wind-driven gear.
If you want the wind to do it, you'll need a tank to fill. Preferentially, you'd want gravity to then supply the water to your abode. However, in your climate, winter weather is a concern. You may have to use an underground water storage tank, and then pump the water from it.
Let the wind keep your tank full, and draw from it what you need. If you have an unpressurized storage tank, you could pump to a pressurized or elevated tank.
I am certainly not suggesting that you precede me in that direction. In fact, I take this opportunity to invite you to be a pall-bearer at my funeral. (Date not specified yet.)
Manner of dress will be at your discretion, but if you choose to entertain with bagpipes, I cannot promise that I will make no objection.

Are these showing up out in your area?
I don’t know what you build in your shop, but you could make your own windplant.
People think the blade has to be something special. Couldn’t be simpler.
Yup, the neighbors up the road. We see a lot of the marshmallow looking bails around here...some of the tubes as well.
Those are sandworm cocoons.
Don’t worry; they’ll migrate out of your area when they hatch.
Years ago, we lived aboard a sailboat in the San Juan Islands of WA state. We had a 5’ dia prop in our main triangle at anchor charging our batteries.
No doubt, with all the birds they kill, you had an occasional “chicken” dinner tossed onto the deck as well.

Instead to turning on the heat to night I think I will bake a cake.

That's pretty much the kind of setting I had envisioned for my book.
The "Great House" was three levels. Bedrooms on the top, with an interior great room which was the focus of the house. That opened to a large courtyard surrounded by fruit trees.
The next level down was the pool area. It had skylights and vegetation, and it opened out to a downslope entry area.
Beyond the gates, the countryside was open and inviting, with rolling meadows, stands of wood, and fields under cultivation.
All of the action took place between the characters, but the setting was serene.
Very serene. And not nearly as cold as, say, here.
I still think about it a lot. It’s a psychological exploration.
I have a pretty weird psyche.
But you’re such a good citizen! It just occurred to me that you look a lot like Mr. Blackwood, my State Representative. I wonder if he also has an unusual alter ego ...
His wife likes reptiles, which is indicative of *something*.
The only thing I can see that it represents is someone who won't let others decide her prejudices, her likes and dislikes.
It takes mental discipline to push away the dross of childhood or familial nonsense in order to take on the world on your own terms.
Yes, that sounds like Audrey. But it also suggests that Mr. B. may not be *entirely* as white-bread as he appears to the public. Which is great, as long as he continues to vote against tax increases, gun control, and other bad state-government stuff.
None of us are. We are three-dimensional creatures, with aspirations and expectations that help to elevate us, and desires and appetites that keep us close to basic things.
Normally we shield those more private aspects of our personalities, even from those closest to us. As we navigate our life's passage, the crests give us vision, and the troughs of the waves keep us humble.
The shortest distance may be from A to B, but we always manage a Jeffy-stroll to get there.
I’ll probably have dream about Jeffy and reptiles, now :-).
Good night, Mr. Bob. Stay warm!
Sheesh! Over a quarter-century in the neighborhood and we still haven’t gone out to the San Juans...
1,700 and good morning to all. Cold again, and I’ve misplaced the checkbook.
