AccuScore has run more than 10,000 simulations for every World Series game for Yahoo! Sports, calculating how each team's performance changes in response to game conditions, opponent's abilities, roster moves, weather and more. Each game is simulated one play at a time and the game is replayed a minimum of 10,000 times to generate forecasted winning percentages, player statistics and a variety of game-changing scenarios.

Boston winning 66.8 percent of World Series simulations

AccuScore simulates each playoff game and the entire playoff series 10,000 times. This season, the team that has won over 50 percent of series simulations won their series with one exception: New York won 51 percent of simulations over Cleveland. AccuScore correctly projected Colorado to upset both Philadelphia and Arizona, but in simulations vs. Boston, the Red Sox ride home-field advantage and the dominant pitching of Josh Beckett to win 66.8 percent of series simulations.

The forecast below is based on the designated starters and was run on data available as of October 23. AccuScore's proprietary algorithm weights each game's data, and as each game is played the simulation winning percentages will change. The simulation winning percentages also will change if the projected starters change.

Game Starters COL BOS

Game 1 Francis vs. Beckett 31.2% 68.8%

Game 2 Jimenez vs. Schilling 35.7% 64.3%

Game 3 Matsuzaka vs. Fogg 52.1% 49.2%

If either of you hear anything about the official Red Sox celebration in Boston (like 2004's "rolling rally"), could you ping me? Thanks...

We're going to try to be there, as we were in 2004.

The only downside of this World Series win? Tickets to games at Fenway are gonna be even harder to get next season... ;-)

Thank you for this thread and for the Red Sox pings, GraniteStateConservative!

It's been a pleasure to watch the post-season series and the World Series with all of you. It's been a lot of fun, but also bittersweet, as baseball season comes to a close.

CONGRATULATIONS to the 2007 WORLD CHAMPIONS - THE BOSTON RED SOX!!!

Now off to bed at last...

I heard the crowd, too. I sure hope that Theo is listening. Signing The Punk (as A-Rod is known in our house) would be a huge mistake.

I think A-Rod has his eyes on the SF Giants. Should be interesting.

Great game!!! Great series!!!!

I'm going to go through Sox withdrawals until April.

Hi there!
I’ve heard nothing so far but Tito said he would like to have it three days from the WS win at the most. He really wants to release the team and I can’t blame him. Soon as I hear something I will let you know. You might also check the Boston Herald web site from time to time.

You all have a GREAT time at the parade!!! I enjoyed the chat with the gang here.

Thank YOU again, GSC, for hosting the ALCS and WS threads. Thank you, big ol’ freeper for your most excellent “color commentary.”

Last but not least, rumor has it in L.A. this morning that the Dodgers may offer the manager position to....JOE TORRE!

If so, be lookin’ for us next year.

Kathleen

Torre is a terrific manager and that would be a great move by the Dodgers.

hello! Just a heads up as I know you love that Papelbon dance ( and really, who doesn’t ). Tomorrow is the day of the parade and Paps said he will be dancing so expect to see any number of clips on youtube.com soon after the parade comes to a close.
And as for Torre - if you get that man in a managers uniform we’ll be seeing you in the WS next year. That guy is top notch.

Right now here in Beverly MA it’s 42 degrees (acc. to
WeatherBug on my desktop)—it was 32 earlier...
