How about this:

We have to understand, Howie is not used to giving...so he is going overboard with his gift of information....it's a whole new experience.

I do think Mo and Anna were close.

i wonder if Anna ever told Moe "get me outta here!" and Moe answered "i can't Anna. They'll say i kidnapped you and i'll be in trouble"

If so, i'm sure Moe feels terrible guilt about this.

Is the "spousal privilege" a legal defense in the Bahamas -because if there is no 5th amendment privilege - that would be redundant.

I dunno sod. And i'll be damned if i'm gonna go looking and try to figure out the backward archaic Bahamian laws. I'm just the "what if" girl remember? We need one of the researchers for this. But as we know HKS is a researcher himself. He tried his best to cover his own butt (oh wait, snakes don't have butts) in a variety of ways. He musta thought this was gonna work. Altho, he didn't follow thru with the paperwork to make the marriage legal. That's odd. What's that all about.

BTW, you're the one who told us to chant: "No 5th Amendment in the Bahamas". So i trusted you on that.

'Unethical' Bahamas Lawyer Goes After Anna Nicole's Mother

posted by buckles 34 minutes ago view profile

Corruption-accused attorney and FNM candidate for Bamboo Town, Branville McCartney, is trying to extract $60,000 from Anna Nicole Smith's mother.

The mother of late celebrity Anna Nicole Smith is being sued for $60,000 by a questionably ethical, case-fixing Bahamian lawyer who is also running for Parliament in the upcoming general election.

Branville McCartney, head of the Halsbury Chambers law firm and FNM candidate for Bamboo Town, has filed a lawsuit against Virgie Arthur of Houston, Texas.

McCartney, who has been accused of charging outrageous amounts of money for doing shoddy legal work, is seeking to have Arthur declared bankrupt for failing to pay him some $60,000 in allegedly bogus legal fees.

The debtor's summons writ and supporting affidavit were served on Arthur as she left the Supreme Court building in downtown Nassau. Ms Arthur was leaving a closed chambers court session before Justice Stephen Isaacs.

Court papers filed by Halsbury Chambers allege that Anna Nicole's mother has failed to pay the outstanding $60,000 legal bill despite several requests sent to Arthur's new legal representative Debra Rose.

Halsbury's writ claims that Arthur signed a retainer agreement on February 12 for the firm to handle Arthur's custody and paternity court battle.

It is not know if Mr McCartney actually performed any work at all for Ms Arthur. Former clients of the disgraced lawyer claim he billed them for work he never performed, and also charged "obscene" amounts without documenting or justifying the reasons for his charges.

In a recent land dispute, McCartney is accused of botching the case even after making illegal and unethical arrangements with the acting magistrate to "fix" the case behind the scenes. The very dissatisfied client attempted to file a complaint with the Bahamas Bar Association, however, then president of the Bar and current Supreme Court Justice, Peter Maynard, another allegedly-corrupt Bahamian lawyer, refused to accept the complaint.

Ms Arthur is currently represented in the Bahamas by attorney Debra Rose, who was hired sometime before February 21st. Legal experts question how Mr McCartney could have performed $60,000 worth of legal work on such a small case, in such a short period of time (2/12 - 2/21) and apparently without ever having appeared in court for the client. It is understood that Ms Arthur dismissed Mr McCartney shortly after signing the retainer agreement and after possibly discovering that McCartney had a reputation for questionable ethics.

Another source close to the Anna Nicole Smith paternity case said that Mr McCartney may be being paid to file the bogus law suit against Ms Arthur in an attempt to damage her claims for the guardianship of Anna Nicole's daughter DannieLynn. The bankruptcy writ could rule Arthur out of the fight to win custody of the child.

A Bahamian political pundit claims McCartney's suit is a PR stunt designed to give the disgraced lawyer "headlines" prior to the upcoming election.

I have been trying to find out the name of a Charleston socialite whose murder was profiled on the A&E Crime series.

It was chilling. As a divorcee, this teacher/socialite dated a man for several years. He had 3 kids, 2 sons, 1 daughter. The relationship ended, but one of the boys, as a teenager, stalked her house, stole her clothes, made inquiries about a sex change.

He murdered the woman in her bathtub. Then attempted to assume her identity. A wig and womens' clothing were mailed to her home and he was found wandering around Charleston on the day of her murder, close to her Antebellum mansion. It was in 2000 IIRC.

Just stream of consciousness - "tinfoil hat thinking" maybe HK$ or KE were going to assume ANNA's identity once she was dumped off the Cracker.

Sit down sod. The doctor says she's on her way.

We might be surprised (disappointed? enraged?) by the witnesses Howard comes up with. Gang of thieves.

Right. But how credible will they be with the jury? And how will they hold up under cross exam?

"Is the "spousal privilege" a legal defense in the Bahamas -because if there is no 5th amendment privilege - that would be redundant."

OK OK declarative sentence should have read " since there is no 5th amendment privilege, spousal protection would be redundant"

Happy now missie?

Howard's "He said he was sleepy (or tired)" tells me that. What Danny said is simply not an unusual statement.

Actually it was unusual. He said "Howard, why am i so tired/or sleepy?". If a person says "i'm so sleepy" it's not unusual, but "Howard, why am i so sleepy" doesn't sound usual to me.

More likely, he was reeling and starting to struggle with life. Whatever killed each of them was a massive dose to "END IT"...what I call the killer dose and the imminent cause of death. Short answer...Danny was given drugs earlier to make him unable to resist the later Killer Dose. Same as Anna.

So then he hit Daniel twice. Maybe once before he left for "food" and then when he got back, Daniel was out cold and he hit him with the killer dose. Is that it? or close?

Gibson returns to House

By TAMARA McKENZIE, Guardian Political Editor

Managing to evade the local and international press and absent from the Lower Chamber for more than a month following the death of US Celebrity Anna Nicole Smith, and since the publication of suggestive photos of him and the former Playboy Playmate, Golden Gates MP and former Minister of Immigration and Labour Shane Gibson returned to his seat in the House of Assembly on Wednesday. And upon adjournment, he informed The Guardian that he is still "friends" with Ms Smith's companion and lawyer Howard K Stern, saw nothing wrong with leaving repeated voicemail messages on Ms Smith's voicemail, and he still has an overwhelming support from his constituents, and even those affiliated with the Opposition Free National Movement (FNM).

"I'm fine and there is nothing like knowing that you are innocent," said Mr Gibson who was also accused of abusing his ministerial post when he admitted to fast-tracking a permanent residency visa for the US celebrity. He became the first Minister in Prime Minister Perry Christie's Cabinet to leave office under the pressure of a scandal that had rocked the party, divided the country and attracted an international media feeding frenzy not seen in almost two decades. "My family is fine and as a matter of fact, I've gotten excellent support from my family and I'm gonna be all right," Mr Gibson told The Guardian

"I think what I did in terms of resigning, I set a new precedent in The Bahamas where you have Members of Parliament who have gotten mixed up in all sorts of things in the past and never resign," Mr Gibson explained. "You have Members of Parliament who had outside kids while they were married," he continued. "Cameras can take pictures all the time, and so hopefully in the future when cameras take other pictures of other persons and it is not understood, we will see how they react at that time."

Mr Gibson in a televised interview last month revealed that the photos he took with Ms Smith were "innocent" and were actually taken by Ms Smith's companion, Howard K Stern. He added that he "did not remember" receiving any gifts from Ms Smith and "knew nothing" of the claims that circulated in the media of him receiving a Rolex watch from the celebrity who still remains popular after her death.

And when he resigned on Feb 18, Mr Gibson flatly denied that he had had a sexual relationship with Ms Smith and told the public that he was resigning because his wife, his parents and his entire family had suffered enough.

But just when the media thought the dust had settled for Mr Gibson, the TMZ.com website posted several phone messages left on the cell phone of Anna Nicole Smith some two weeks ago, which were reportedly made last December by the former Immigration and Labour Minister. Some calls were made around midnight from New Providence. Mr Gibson told The Guardian yesterday that if he cannot reach someone who he considers to be his friend, the "natural" thing to do is to call again and again if there is something "important" to discuss. " So I don't see the big deal," Mr Gibson said about the repeated calls. "If you have a three hour time difference and you are trying to catch somebody around 8 o'clock, what time would you call?" Mr Gibson asked in response to a question about calling Ms Smith around midnight.

Mr Gibson also admitted that he still kept in contract with the late Ms Smith's companion and lawyer Howard K Stern because he [Mr Stern] is considered to be a "friend." He declined, however, to inform The Guardian of whether or not his mother was still serving as nanny to six-month-old Dannielynn Hope Smith while her paternity case continues to play out in a Bahamian court.

Mr Gibson said that since his resignation, he has been assisting the PLP with its campaign and he has also stepped up efforts in his constituency with the introduction of various new programs. He added that since his resignation, he continues to receive the support of constituents and has "more support now than ever before."

"We have grown even closer over the past couple of weeks and I would say that I have more support now from people who I know to be FNM's," Mr Gibson said. "They [FNMs] came up to me and said 'I don't like what is happening. They see that there was a concerted effort to stray and put a twist to a story that absolutely was not true, and so I am now getting support from persons on the other side, simply because of what happened."

Yeah sweet move on that idea.

Howiever what about statues of Limitations on the "ceremony"by Bahama Law?

Like I murder your kid and Marry you hurry up style to avoid the husband/wife no testimony thingy.

The alleged murder/mystery death took place prior to the man/woman marraige ceremony.

Heck if it were that easy we would see the marraige ceremonies increasing big time here in the US.

How about this:

"Anna was carrying my child and we didn't want anyone to get the impression that we were trying to hide any wrongdoing so we got married".

Did you read the entire transcript of that interchange? It wasn't about a perception of wrongdoing wrt being an unwed mother, it was about the perception of wrongdoing wrt Daniels death.

We have to understand, Howie is not used to giving...so he is going overboard with his gift of information....it's a whole new experience.

HKS thinks he's so smart, but just like Scott Peterson his TMI is gonna come back and whap him right in the face.

No. 1. Anna said: "He's not breathing". Neither Howard nor Anna has ever said where Howard was when she noticed he wasn't breathing. Maybe he wasn't even in the room. We don't even know how much of the event is truth and how much is fiction.

No. 2 Why did Howard check his Carotic(sp) artery...rather than saying "Danny, Danny...come on kid...wake up."

Taz said: She's not breathing...Was Taz told by HOWARD that she JUST went to sleep so everyone would be real quiet??...so that enough TIME WOULD pass so he could get out of dodge.

I remember Mo saying that she would be up and then nap for a couple of hours and then repeat that throughout a normal day.

The shame in all this is that all we have left is Howard's testimony for the inquest. KE had just left town prior to BOTH DEATHS.

There is only one friggin' witness in Daniel's death and he's the father/lawyer/executor/husband/lover/friend/confidant/photographer/drug pusher/keeper of the heir/beneficiary/accountant/manager of the one person who if she had thought "What would Mom or Dad say" occasionally, probably wouldn't be where she is today.

I wish better for Dannie Lynn because when she's about 12....and people start talking about her Mom, that little girl is going to have a hard time. That's why I think she belongs with Virgie. She wouldn't do anything to hurt that child and could explain Anna better than anyone else. Raising Danny for 6 years is proof of her goodness.
