A man arrested in Thailand is being held in connection with the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey, law enforcement officials said today. Federal officials familiar with the case, who spoke with the Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said the man was being held in Bangkok on unrelated sex charges.
A source close to the case identified the suspect as one-time resident of Conyers, Ga., and said he was a school teacher.
The source said that authorities had been focusing on him for some time and that Patsy Ramsey had been made aware prior to her death on June 24 that his arrest was being pursued.
The girl was found beaten and strangled in the basement of the familys home in Boulder, Colo., on Dec. 26, 1996.
Law enforcement officials from Boulder were flying to Bangkok to present Thai authorities with documents in the slaying of the 6-year-old beauty pageant contestant, officials in Washington said. They asked to remain anonymous pending an announcement in Colorado.
The girls parents, Patsy and John Ramsey, had been under an "umbrella of suspicion" in JonBenets death. The Ramseys said an intruder killed their daughter. A grand jury investigation in Boulder ended with no indictments, and no arrests had been made in the case.
Patsy Ramsey died in July.
In 2003, U.S. District Judge Julie Carnes in Atlanta concluded that the evidence she reviewed suggested an intruder killed JonBenet. That opinion came with the judges decision to dismiss a libel and slander lawsuit against the Ramseys by a freelance journalist, who the Ramseys had named as a suspect in their daughters murder. The Boulder district attorney at the time said she agreed with Carnes declaration.
Yeah but 450 of 'em are:
Thailand?
so, did Patsy Ramsey die on June 24 or in July ?
I wish she could have lived to see this day.
I hope this will change the way people approach these kinds of cases. That woman who drowned her children in the car and blamed it on a stranger screwed it up in one direction and I hope this case brings it back towards being reasonable and looking at ALL leads.
Justifies two different threads. Besides, the earlier one says arrest expected and this one says the arrest made.
To be brought up on sex chages in Thailand is some feat.
You got that right. I worked for a school principal who took every summer vacation in Thailand. He was never caught abusing a student, but since we had a great many Asian immigrant families in the school it was believed that he preyed upon a number of kids. Could never prove it and he retired with a full pension. From what I hear, he still frequents Bangkok.
John Ramsey says Patsy was aware that the Boulder police were going to make an arrest...He praised the Boulder Police dept.
sw
That is sick.

Arrest Made In JonBenet Ramsey Case (CBS Story)
Those poor parents were convicted in the press. I live in Georgia. There whole lives were just destroyed. I hope the people involved in the original investigation are brought up on charges.

I didn't post to label this thread as a duplicate, but rather to direct interested FReepers to the busiest of the JonBenet threads.
John Karr (Kahr ?) per FNC.
The nation has learned a bitter lesson with this..

Your link is now officially irrelevant.

There is a John Carr high school in conyers, Georgia.
He may be part of a prominent family in town.
Doesn't say it was him.
