Of course there's no such thing as free energy, that isn't what Bearnden is contending. what we use is simply converted from one type to another. Bearden's whole point is that, while we've found really effective ways to couple the Poynting energy into usable power, our EM theory, as written, has no mechanism that even gives us a clue as to how we might go about tapping into the Heaviside component. It's THERE, and it is many orders of magnitude greater than the Poynting energy; but our EM theory simply pretends it doesn't exist.

Why? There isn't a good reason that I've heard.

Maxwell says it's there. Lorentz makes it disappear. Our whole EM theory is founded upon Lorentz. Ergo, our EM theory could be missing some revolutionary concepts.

Oddly, nobody on planet Earth seems to be willing to take the dare to do the nasty math to prove this guy right or wrong. Is everyone afraid of being wrong? Or is nobody capable of the math? I can't believe that either is true, still it ain't hap'nin'. Everyone -- to a man -- is simply dismissive of the whole notion, absent conclusive mathematical proof.

This isn't the same thing at all.

Imagine, all your life that all you have seen was the interplay of light and shadow on a wall. You can theorize a light source. Then, along comes a theory that states that there is an entire room beyond that wall that you have never seen, can never see, and nothing you have currently done in the realm of experimentation can show you anything in that room. However, if you put your hand on the wall, you can feel heat and predict how it interacts with the wall.

Gravity would be the heat. The wall would be space/time. The "source" of gravity is whatever is making the wall hot.

Kind of a clumsy analogy, but the best I can do at this time.
