A Feel Of Home
Oh, there are worlds out there.
Many are rough, but some are fair.
These glass-smooth marbles that you see,
Stretch on, and on, infinitely.
And on each is a feel of home,
For some poor traveler doomed to roam.
Light-speed is not a limit, friend.
The lengths you go will have no end.
You cant return, though. That is clear.
Your moments doubt adds another year.
Go as far as you like and pick a nice spot,
Your memories of home will be all that youve got.
It all is in ashes, and all blown away,
Except for the things you remember today.
You move like the glacier, where time hurries not,
Millenia pass while you inch to your spot.
Oh, yes you have traveled as fast as one can,
And I hope that returnings not part of your plan,
The Universe waits with more samples to show,
Take time with your choosing, theres no place to go.

Don't Be Afraid
God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid. -Isaiah 12:2
|
I have an ancient leaf blower that I use to clean up our patio. It sputters, rattles, smokes, emits irritating fumes, and is considered by my wife (and probably by my neighbors) to be excessively noisy. But our old dog is utterly indifferent to the racket. When I start up the blower, she doesn't even raise her head, and only reluctantly moves when I blow leaves or dirt in her direction. That's because she trusts me. A young man who occasionally mows our yard uses a similar blower, but his is not tolerated by our dog. Years ago, when she was a puppy, he teased her with the machine and she has never forgotten. Now, when the man enters the backyard, we have to put her in the house, because she growls, barks, and snarls at him. Same set of circumstances, but the hands that use the blower make all the difference. So it is with us. Frightening circumstances are less troublesome if we trust the hands that control them. If our world and our lives were governed by a thoughtless and indifferent force, we would have good reason to fear. But the hands that control the universe-God's hands-are wise and compassionate. We can trust them in spite of our circumstances and not be afraid. -David Roper
When fear and worry test your faith And anxious thoughts assail, Remember, God is in control, And He will never fail. -Sper
God is in control, so we have nothing to fear.

The Silent Ranks
I wear no uniforms, no blues or army greens.
But I am in the army in the ranks rarely seen.
I have no rank upon my shoulders. Salutes I do not give.
But the military world is the place where I live.
I'm not in the chain of command, orders I do not get.
But my husband is the one who does, this I can not forget.
I'm not the one who fires the weapon, who puts my life on the line.
But my job is just as tough. I'm the one that's left behind.
My husband is a patriot, a brave and prideful man.
and the call to serve his country not all can understand.
Behind the lines I see the things needed to keep this country free.
My husband makes the sacrifice, but so do our kids and me.
I love the man I married. Soldiering is his life.
But I stand among the silent ranks
known as the
Army Wife.

Happy Military Spouse Day

Hi all.. quick note here & on Finest & a few of my FR friends of faith... Please pray for my aunt who I had lunch with yesterday (one of the conservatives) from NY visiting us... she had a massive stroke last night and is in ICU in critical condition. Prognosis poor. Her mom & 3 siblings sisters all died of hypertension/stroke.
Please remember my Aunt Dotty from Dunkirk? My mom & dad each had 6 siblings.. of all of them Aunt Dotty was my second mom.. yesterday at extended lunch & we talked about life, death, and said we would all be together again in 3 weeks for memorial day to do the annual grave cleaning /decorating at the three cemeteries.. I recall my last sentence was unless Jesus calls one of us in the meantime.. we all shook our heads in agreement as all have major med problems. It is always an understanding when good byes occur, many of you understand this..
thanks FRiends...

Oh Dolly! Just got on the computer after being gone all day yesterday and saw your note about Aunt Dotty. I am so sorry. Prayers indeed for her situation.
My own mother died of stroke in 1988 so only briefly knew my oldest boy (who just turned twenty), and never knew the younger boy. She was only 67 but had suffered from various health problems over the years.
Speaking of my 20 year old, could you please say a little prayer for him too? He's having surgery for a hernia on Monday. Thanks.

We should all remember this Mayor, and too often we forget this.
On a lighter note, anyone who uses a 2 stroke leaf blower should be subject to the death penalty......
