Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Oh... I screwed up pretty bad, but fortunately never got caught. er... depending on the statute of limitations, which I think are mostly expired by now.
I still maintain the the most valuable part of a college education is not what you learn. It's what you realize you don't know.
Stick around a blue-collar bar full of folk that never went to college, for an evening or two. You'll find a bunch of people that think they know everything. Knowledge may be knowing stuff, but wisdom is knowing when to shut up. :-) I'm still working on that.
Another great learning place is the military. Again, it's not about what you learn, but it is about what you learn about people. When your life will in fact depend on the person next to you, you learn to assess people quickly and efficiently. You find out that you can tell right off the bat whether this newly met person is somebody that you can trust holding the other end of the rope, or trust behind you with a gun.

It is always that way...but I expect ecurbh will appreciate that regular income for a long time to come.

Hi Bear (and Rose!)...I do mean to check in more often, and occasionally I lurk around for a few moments now and then, but my job has just kept me hopping and really cut into my time in front of the computer at night. I'm just about to hire again to fill my office back up...and every time I do that I think things will calm down a bit -- and then something new happens. Big cities are pains in the butt, especially when you work for one.
Next week, the wife and I are going to head over to Idaho for some skiing (no snow here) and meet up with my nephew who graduated from Air Force Academy last year (he based in Mountain Home, Idaho until flight school starts in May). We're meeting him, his girl friend and his mom and dad for a few days skiing at Bogus Basin near Boise. So I'll have some time then...but still not in front of the computer!
To: Ramius
But then again... there may be good money to be made in prolonging the problem until then. :-)

Good morning!
Warthog over Battle Creek yesterday.
They're as common as 2Js heli-buddies, and for the same reason.

The words are: "Not in scope." I will definitely remember those words and I promise not to wield this power unless it is in the defense of the innocent.
Namely me. ;-D

Mornin', Ruthy!
~sip~
Gosh, I'm stoopid today. Stayed up too late. I just tried to explain a few things to a user and ended up completely tongue-tied.

hehehehe...
I know the feeling. I haven't gone to sleep any earlier than midnight for over a week now.
Most of it is my fault. Between the computer and reading novels. I don't finally turn off the lights and close my eyes until I force myself.
This weird schedule all started because my mom was letting Alyson take naps at 5pm and naturally, Aly wouldn't go back to sleep until midnight. I had to train my body to stay up later because I cannot go to sleep if she is still awake.
*shrugs*
I need coffee......
