I Am
Come,wend your way on foot
breathe deeply of my fragrance
hear a tiny blue bird
singing of my beauty.
Come, cross my icy streams
rest upon an old fir stump
in a pale shaft of sun
I am magnificent.
Come, let us walk slowly
down a crooked dusty path.
I have things to show you
I know you'll understand.
Look up in awe as life
circles a behemoth sky,
my snowy peaks glisten
cold in a brilliant light.
Come, let us journey on
to a single copse of trees
a verdant canopy
hides wonders yet unseen.
I am beyond your senses
I'm a cougar in the night.
I am peering through the pupil
of a hawks watchful eye.
I'll share everything with you
but don't take me for granted.
I come with a hefty price
our soldiers know first hand.
Happy New year and God Bless America!
~Yokum~

Get well soon, Meekie.
I only felt bad for a couple of days. Still coughing and sniffling but at least the worst is over.
Happy New Year to you and your wife.

No hangover here either. I drank diet Dr Pepper.
We went out to eat and were home by 7:00. What a Party Pooper I've become. :)

I had a rather quiet New Year's Eve. Which is the way I like it. :)
We went to dinner early and got home early. I drank a Diet Dr Pepper and Freeped. What could be better?
Have a Happy New Year, VisualOps.

The Path
Our path from earth to Heaven
Is a straight and narrow road
Sometimes our bodies weaken
From underneath the load
We must put out faith in Jesus
He will our burdens share
When you fall down on your knees
The Savior will be there
Just tell Him all your troubles
But He already knows
He wants us to depend on Him
For everything that goes
Just try to stay within this path
And bask in all His love
He will gladly lead you
On the path that leads above
We will then cross Jordan's River
But we wont be alone You see,
Jesus walks beside us
And He'll see us safely home

The Nature Of The Beast
Read: Galatians 5:16-26
I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. Romans 7:18
Bible In One Year: Genesis 3-5
Years ago we had a pet raccoon named Jason. One minute he would snuggle up on your lap like a perfect angel and the next he'd be engaged in the most fiendish antics. If unrestrained, he would raid the garbage can or tear up the flowerbed. Although he was a delightful pet, we became increasingly aware that his destructive actions were governed by his wild instincts. Jason would always have the nature of a raccoon, and we had to watch him closely no matter how tame he seemed to be.
Often when I observed Jason's behavior, I thought of the sinful nature that we as Christians retain even though we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Paul referred to this as the "flesh" in which "nothing good dwells" (Romans 7:18). It may be restrained, but it's always there. Unless we are daily controlled by the Lord, our old "self" will demonstrate its destructive pleasure-seeking capacity in some way.
Although we are new creatures in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), we still possess the tendency to sin. But we don't need to be governed by it, for we are united to Christ and indwelt by the Holy Spirit. By obeying God's Word and yielding to the Spirit (Romans 8:11), we can be victorious over the fleshthe nature of the beast within. Mart De Haan
Lord, I am learning of Your power
To give me victory each hour;
As I keep walking close to You,
Your Spirit fills with life anew. Hess
The Christian gains victory by starving the old nature and feeding the new.
