There seem to be a continuous supply up for auction on eBay (I've bought some), and many more from ABE dealers. If you just want a reading copy, try ABE or the library. The centerpiece book is "LAD - A DOG." Lad was an astounding dog, and when he died in 1918 (at a very, very old age), the whole country mourned. A number of other champion Sunnybank collies were made famous too: Bruce, Gray Dawn, Buff, Wolf, Treve, Lady, Fair Ellen (blind but of course she didn't know it).

I will check out e-bay. I need to get a couple of books for some young nephews. I can read these and then give them to the children for their libraries.

Perfect for children, especially for boys. Terhune teaches manliness. (He once wrote a book on how to box.)

That's one of the niceties of the second-hand market. Millions of Terhune dog books have been printed, but it is not so easy to find them in pristine condition. They have been read and handled by generations of children! You can find ABE listings like, "Cover soiled and name in crayon on the endpapers, otherwise quite clean" :-)

Fortunately, at least a few are still in print and can be purchased new.

Ooh, cool. Ron and Nancy at the Stork Club, America's top celebrity night spot at the time. The Club is long gone as is its famous owner, Sherman Billingsley, but it is still the very image of class.
