Graphic by Billie.

Inspiration

Just where does it all come from,
And just why is it here?
Some of it our eyes do see,
And some tickles the ear.
It’s really all around I find,
I mean it’s where it’s found.
It’s in the sky both day and night,
And even on the ground.
My theory is God put it here,
For us to find and share.
His love and blessings touch our hearts,
Reminds us of His care.
I’ll use my eyes and use my ears,
But mostly use my heart.
That’s where the inspiration is,
It’s been there from the start.

Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. —Romans 10:13

A Prayer
Dear Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness.
I believe that You died and took my punishment.
I trust You as my Savior and Lord.

Now is the time to choose the Lord—later may never come.

So Near And Yet So Far

Read: Numbers 14:26-35

Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. —Romans 10:13

Bible In One Year: 1 Kings 12-13; Luke 22:1-20

Back in Canada's early days, pioneers were taking shelter in Fort Babine. When supplies were nearly exhausted, Victor Clark and a young guide left the fort and walked to the town of Hazelton to get food.

On their way back to the fort, snow began to fall. Soon the two travelers were chilled to the bone by a stinging wind and were unable to follow the trail in the darkness. Forced to stop, they built a fire and spent a miserable night. Then as light slowly dawned, they saw the fort with its warmth and comfort—only a few hundred yards away from where they had stopped. So near and yet so far!

The Israelites were at the very border of the Promised Land (Numbers 13). Caleb and Joshua, the two courageous spies, had brought back the lush foods of Canaan and encouraged the people to take possession of the land (vv.26,30). But the people doubted and condemned themselves to 40 years of wandering and death in the desert (14:28-30). They too were so near and yet so far away!

Have you heard many times about Jesus' love for you but remain uncommitted to Him? Are you near yet so far away? Choose now to cross over into the "promised land" of salvation found in Jesus. —Vernon Grounds

A Prayer
Dear Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness.
I believe that You died and took my punishment.
I trust You as my Savior and Lord.

Now is the time to choose the Lord—later may never come.

Happy Sunday, (((((Sis)))))

Love the old church graphic.

When I was a kid we'd visit my grandparents (who lived in the foothills of Missouri) and there was a church in a neighboring town that looked like this one. : )

Good morning, Sweet (((((((( Bro ))))))))

That little church reminds me of times much more peaceful and slower-paced.

Whenever I get a chance to visit other parts of the country, I try to visit the local colleges or universities and some of the rural churches with their cemeteries on the same grounds.

I know, I know ..... you got the brains, I got the weird. When my son was small, we took one of his cousins with us on a vacation to the Grand Canyon. We stopped at a ghost town and before leaving, we went to the old cemetery. From the back seat, I heard Jr telling his cousin, "We always have to take Mom to see old cemeteries. She's weirrrrd".

It is so good to see you this beautiful Sunday morning.

CG ..... both of these poems were great. I couldn't decide which to use so decided to go with both. I hope you know that I now need a poem for next Sunday! : )

Yikes!! If Amy is going to start using two a day, we had better pick up the pace! LOL (I can see why she would have a hard time deciding between those two!)

We are a great team.....if I do say so myself! A round of applause for all of us.

Have a blessed Sunday, friends.
