Canyon, cactus
The more enduring stone,
lifting to the sun
praising arms
carved and cleansed
by endless water.
The weaker rock,
beaten to sand,
taught by a seed
to drink the sun
and seldom rain
and raise itself
in supplication.

Poetry huh? OK how do you like mine?

I sit beside the road of matchmaking with the cars passing by, I stick out my thumb or perhaps I don't, just waiting for the right car to come move me, my life, others chase the cars as they come by but I, I wait, wait for that one car; no matter what the color, what the accessory, what the style just that one car... -Elenheru

Rus, did you see many of these while you were in Tucson?
This is the first that I've seen except for ones in zoo reptile houses.
We stopped to take pictures; met a young lady who said she would have stepped on him except for his rattling.
My dreams that night were of snakes and gila monsters, though we did not see a gila monster. :)

Just got this in e-mail, with the customary 'send this to x amount of people' request. Thought it was nice. Incidentally, before I could forward it, someone wanted a quarter for 25 pennies! (I did not want all those pennies, but know what it is like when you need a quarter for a machine.)
THE REMINDER OF A PENNY
You always hear the usual stories of pennies on the sidewalk being good luck, gifts from angels, etc. This is the first time I've ever heard this twist on the story. Gives you something to think about.
Several years ago, a friend of mine and her husband were invited to spend the weekend at the husband's employer's home. My friend, Arlene, was nervous about the weekend. The boss was very wealthy, with a fine home on the waterway, and cars costing more than her house.
The first day and evening went well, and Arlene was delighted to have this rare glimpse into how the very wealthy live. The husband's employer was quite generous as a host, and took them to the finest restaurants. Arlene knew she would never have the opportunity to indulge in this kind of extravagance again, so was enjoying herself immensely.
As the three of them were about to enter an exclusive restaurant that evening, the boss was walking slightly ahead of Arlene and her husband.
He stopped suddenly, looking down on the pavement for a long, silent moment.
Arlene wondered if she was supposed to pass him. There was nothing on the ground except a single darkened penny that someone had dropped, and a few cigarette butts. Still silent, the man reached down and picked up the penny.
He held it up and smiled, then put it in his pocket as if he had found a great treasure. How absurd! What need did this man have for a single penny? Why would he even take the time to stop and pick it up?
Throughout dinner, the entire scene nagged at her. Finally, she could stand it no longer. She causally mentioned that her daughter once had a coin collection, and asked if the penny he had found had been of some value.
A smile crept across the man's face as he reached into his pocket for the penny and held it out for her to see. She had seen many pennies before! What was the point of this?
"Look at it." He said. "Read what it says."
She read the words "United States of America."
"No, not that; read further."
"One cent?" "No, keep reading."
"In God we Trust?"
"Yes!"
"And?"
"And if I trust in God, the name of God is holy, even on a coin. Whenever I find a coin I see that inscription. It is written on every single United States coin, but we never seem to notice it! God drops a message right in front of me telling me to trust Him? Who am I to pass it by? When I see a coin, I pray, I stop to see if my trust IS in God at that moment. I pick the coin up as a response to God; that I do trust in Him. For a short time, at least, I cherish it as if it were gold. I think it is God's way of starting a conversation with me. Lucky for me, God is patient and pennies are plentiful!
When I was out shopping today, I found a penny on the sidewalk. I stopped and picked it up, and realized that I had been worrying and fretting in my mind about things I cannot change. I read the words, "In God We Trust," and had to laugh. Yes, God, I get the message.
It seems that I have been finding an inordinate number of pennies in the last few months, but then, pennies are plentiful!
And, God is patient...
Have a blessed day!
The best mathematical equation I have ever seen:
1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given
That's the whole gospel message simply stated.

That is wonderful!!
How many pennies do I see that have been tossed away? I will look at them with a different awareness now.
Thank you for sharing that!

Happy Pitcher Day FRiends
From Pastor Lawson's Southern Fried Gospel--
....Heres something to spend some time thinking about: We dont plan our future; God plans our future. He says, "It will all happen as I have planned. It will come about according to my purposes." Isaiah 14:24 (New Living Translation) Knowing this should bring us hope for the future. As a boy, Dave Dravecky dreamed of playing baseball in the major leagues. Dave worked hard and pitched his first no-hitter when he was eleven! Daves dream came true when, as a young man, he joined the San Diego Padres and helped them reach the World Series. After six seasons in San Diego, he moved up the California coast and became a starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants. Just when everything seemed to be perfect in Daves life, doctors discovered a cancerous lump in his pitching arm. They had to remove it, along with most of Daves shoulder muscle. They told him hed never pitch again. But Dave knew a secret: "If God wants me to pitch, Ill be out there." Nine months after his surgery, Dave pitched again for the Giants. The crowd went wild! But just five days after his comeback, Daves arm broke, ending his baseball career. The cancer had returned. Doctors removed Daves arm to save his life. Dave could have been angry with God or given up hope. But instead he praised God. Dave knew God had a better plan for his life than he did. God had given Dave his first dream of playing baseball in the major leagues. Now He gave him an even greater dreamto tell others about Jesus.
