Established in 2001, after the 9/11 attack on America and now in its 23nd year, this thread is designed to identify threats to America, both internal and external, and evaluate the probability of those threats occurring and the extent of potential damage. Discussions may stray into ‘tinfoil’ territory, but the goal is to peel back and confirm information so we can make informed decisions and actions. Incredible as it seems, “tinfoil” conspiracy theories have fast become realities so they can no longer be ignored outright, but must be evaluated and compared to current events.

It has been my pleasure to continue this thread over the past few years. This thread hopefully is continuing the goals of when it started.

For those who care, my posts reflect my scanning of the interwebs to provide me with early warning concerning factors that can endanger my life and family. Yes, I’m what many would call a “prepper”, and proudly accept that characterization.

How can something happening half way around the world affect me personally? Wuhan virus, my friend is but one recent example. I noted it in TM Dec 2019 and was prepared when chaos hit in 2020.

Other events have secondary and tertiary affects that reach us via shortages and inflation – fossil fuel prices are the most common, as well as economic impacts. I simply share news items and often my opinions that shape my actions and preparations.

My posts are broken down into specific topics and regions. I highlight and evaluative opensource reports in those areas in regard to how it will affect the US. Sometimes it feels like trying to drink from a fire hose and I don’t expect this to let up, only increase as the year progresses.

Will we even make it to the 2024 elections without things flying apart? Will the democrats / leftist manage a way to steal the election? Will the US find itself in the early stages of a civil war / national split up? The year promises to be very bumpy, so buckle up and prepare yourselves for what is to come.

OBSERVATION - Are they that stupid or crazy to try such an attempt? IMHO the answer is a strong YES. The history of the matter of their persecution of Trump the past 4+ years indicates that they will do what ever is necessary - inlacing an assassination (yes I went there) to prevent Trump from retiring to the presidency. Raskin is only echoing what the left has been increasingly been spouting the past couple years. If he and his ilk in congress attempt such a move, it won’t be unarmed Trump supporters coming into DC this time.

The riots in Britain are a harbinger of what to expect soon in the US IMHO. We have sections of the country essentially now moslem entities and pro-islamic violence has started to rear its head in the pro-Hamas protests/riots of this year. Things in Europe are devolving into what many consider to be a race/religious war between islam and the west. Because nations like Great Britain are essentially unarmed, the more aggressive knife and axe wielding moslems have the current advantage. Here in the US it would devolve into something far more lethal.

Stock markets in Europe remained unsettled on Tuesday despite a rebound in Japan which almost reversed record falls at the start of the week.
London’s FTSE 100, along with stock markets in Paris and Frankfurt, opened higher but soon slid back.
Overnight, Japan’s Nikkei 225 stock index jumped by 10.23%, or 3,217 points in its biggest one day gain in points, after the previous day’s plummet.
Focus has now shifted to US stock markets.

Prechter expressed his belief that an emergency rate cut is imminent due to the rapid decline in rates. The last time the Fed made such a move was during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, many experts argue that another emergency cut could signal that the US economy is in dire straits, potentially exacerbating market anxieties.

Well the massive propaganda effort to show harris as the best thing to happen to this country has been, to say the least, incredible and may account for much of her bounce in the recent polling. This will likely stay until she is forced to start answering press questions and even a debate with out scripted helps. Also noted is that her campaign website is completely void of her policy goals for her administration - nothing, nada zilch. The press / PR machine is going all out to screen her from real public scrutiny .

Biden’s top economic advisor, Gene Sperling announced he is leaving the WH to join the harris campaign.

Kamala Harris was “dismissed” from an Israel/Iran briefing in the Situation Room yesterday. Some say she only showed up for a photo op and left early.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin, who also reviewed the report, said the border data that dates back between 2021-23 shows “at least 99 illegal aliens on the FBI terror watchlist were released into the US after being arrested by Border Patrol at the southern border, and another 34 watchlisted aliens are still in DHS custody.”

The Secretary of the Russian Security Council and Former Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu has reportedly arrived in the Iranian Capital of Tehran, for what is being described as a “Working Visit” with him set to meet with the New Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Ukraine –

Russian Ministry of Defense claims full occupation of Tymofiivka village in Donetsk region of Ukraine, Ocheretyne front.

Ukrainian forces have reportedly crossed the border into the Kursk region of Russia launching attacks on the towns of Gogolevka and Nikolaevo-Dar’ino. Probably done by the Russian Freedom Legion / Russian Volunteer Corps who have launched these border raids in the past. .

Ukrainian forces reportedly have repelled 18 large scale assaults in the direction of Toretsk today, Russian forces have made some advances they are concentrating 80 percent of their daily assault efforts in this direction.

Ukrainian forces repelled 2 large scale assaults in the area of Mala Tokmachka destroying significant amounts of equipment and manpower of Russian forces.

Outlook —

Russia is attempting to focus its forces to exploit weaknesses in the Ukrainian defensed identified and developed over the spring/summer. Part of this may be in recognition that the favorable terrain will soon revert to the infamous Ukraine mud in a matter of a couple months. Even with all this effort, Russian gains versus losses are incredible, with well over a thousand lost each day, the forces necessary to exploit any breakthrough at this stage are dwindling.

Speaking of losses, Russia is fast approaching the 600,000 casualty level. Somehow Russia is managing to scrounge up enough to keep the meat chain alive and grow the force, but like the declining numbers of operational tanks and armor, those reservers are beginning to run out.

The Russian ADA support to Iran could provide a window of opportunity for Ukraine to increase its attacks on S300/400 batteries in the theatre. Even before the Israeli / Iranian flare up, Russia was hurting to cover its own assets from the Ukraine drone attacks. Now, it will have even fewer reserves to replace batteries lost to ATACMS fire.

Europe / NATO General –

The immigrant riots in England continued to cycle upwards yesterday. British police continue to ‘protect’ club and axe wielding moslem immigrants who have been essentially going door to door to threaten and beat British citizens, breaking into restaurants to do same and creating road blocks to assault drivers.

Now British police are going to homes to arrest those who posted something ‘offensive’ on social media. (Cross reference this under Globalism/Great Reset)

British prime minister Keir Starmer said in new comments that he’s readying a “standing army” of police to crush the anti-mass migration protests and riots. He said courts would be opened 24 hours for fast prosecution and sentencing.

Baron Walney, John Woodcock, the UK Government’s adviser on political violence, is now arguing that the government consider a COVID-style lockdown using the 2023 Public Order Act to stop all protests against open borders and migrant violence if the unrest continues.

OBSERVATION - The year is now shaping up as one where radical islamists who’ve infiltrated western countries are surging forward via violence to essentially overthrow their host govts. And in the case of Britain, the govt is condoning the movement.

This is not unlike what was seen here in 2020 where many of the major cities kowtowed to the Antifa/BLM demands and riots of the year.

Both Jordan and Saudi Arabia have barred Iran and Israel/US Coalition aircraft from using its airspace. In the case of Saudi Arabia it has reportedly told Iranian Officials, that and violation of its airspace will be seen as a violation of Saudi sovereignty, stating that, “We are Defending ourselves, not Israel.”

The attack tonight on Al-Asad Airbase in Western Iraq, may have thrown a monkey wrench into Iran’s planning for a drone/missile strike on Israel. The attack has thrown US assets in the region on a level of higher alert than they were. Now there is the probability of a US retaliatory strike on the Iranian-backed militias to further complicate matters.

Thus the guessing game of when will the attack occur continues. Besides the ill-timed attack on the Ain al-Asad base, Iran must be facing a decision on how hard to hit to avoid the potential counter strike by Israel on its nuclear and even oil facilities.

The closure of Jordanian and Saudi airspace to both sides could be limiting - depending on Iranian attitude. This would force Iran to route its drones and cruise missiles via Syria along a narrow corridor. Launches by Iranian back Iraqi and Houthi forces will almost have to violate the ban. ‘hat said, will Iran honor the ban? From its statements against any arab nation who ‘helps’ Israel , chances are they would ignore the ban.

Israel? They have shown they can pass thru Syrian airspace with impunity to all launch sites on Iran.

Neither Jordan or Saudi Arabia have the capability to intercept ballistic missiles above the atmosphere traveling over their respective countries. Other than political complaints, little can be done on this matter.

Netanyahu many think, is operating with a more of a free hand now that biden has dropped out of the race. This makes an Israeli counter strike on those Iranian families a greater reality than before. Visions of what Israel did to the port in Yemen is likely bouncing around their heads. Should Iran choose unwisely and get hit in this manner, the next question is to what extent will Iran attempt to escalate the situation? Besides trying to shoot more drones and missiles, their options will have to shift to target the US and the west via an attempt to close the Straits of Hormuz and throw the world into a global oil crisis.

Another view is that the threat on Iran’s precious nuclear weapons program is so vital to them that they are willing to toss Hezbollah into the fire just to protect it from Israeli bombs, just like they did to Hamas. Interesting thought for those trying to fill the shoes of the significant number of senior Hezbollah leaders.

This is just the tip of the ‘what if’ iceberg as we wait to see what will happen next. Iran/Hezbollah’s next move is still considered to be imminent and that will given us some information to see just how large the regional escalation may be.

Iran –

Iran has requested advanced Russian air defense and radar systems following a visit to the Islamic Republic by a top Moscow official and shipments are already on their way, The New York Times reported on Monday.
Two Iranian officials confirmed that Iran made the request and Russia has started delivering radars and air-defense equipment, according to the Times, citing Iranian media.

The request came following a day-long visit to Tehran by head of the Russian Security Council and former Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, on Monday.

Most desired system is the S400

OBSERVATION - Russia may only be suppling a token number of these systems. The war of attrition against Ukraine has forced Russia to strip many mainland units of their ADA assets to protect against the growing threat of Ukraine drones and other missiles. In one stroke recently in Sevastopol, an entire S400 battery was taken out. The fact that Russia is willing to send such a scarce resource to Iran indicates just how close the two countries have become over the past couple years.

Iraq -

Iraq said Tuesday it rejects all “reckless” actions that target Iraqi bases, diplomatic missions, and U.S.-led coalition outposts.
At least five U.S. personnel were wounded Monday in an attack against a military base in Iraq, U.S. officials told Reuters, as the Middle East braces for a possible new wave of attacks by Iran and its allies following last week’s killing of senior members of terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah.

Newly-adopted World Health Organization amendments commit the U.S. to giving WHO wide-ranging authority to police, surveil and control Americans, in the name of protecting them from “pandemic emergencies,” a former WHO medical director warns.

Approved on June 1, the Biden Administration-backed amendments to WHO’s International Health Regulations (IHR) require WHO to set up an office (“National IHR Authority”) in the U.S., from which it will address both real and perceived “potential” health threats.

After their adoption, the Brownstone Institute published an analysis of the amendments co-authored by Senior Scholar David Bell, a public health physician and former WHO medical officer. Titled “IHR Amendments Open Door to Perpetual Emergencies,” the report examines the amendments line by line, highlighting their most problematic initiatives:

1 Broadening the definition of a “pandemic emergency” to the point that “a simple threat can be declared an emergency,” resulting in a proliferation of declared “emergencies” and government-imposed mandates, restrictions and lockdowns.
2 Ordaining WHO’s Director-General “as the sole person who declares” a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
3 Creation of National IHR Authorities (offices) in member countries (such as the U.S.) to manage, implement and track compliance with the WHO agenda.
4 Requiring member nations to perform “a broad list of surveillance and reporting activities” within their respective countries.
5 Justifying the imposition of mandates and restrictions under the guise of combating perceived “potential” health threats.
6 Broadening the definition of “health products” to the point that “a whole industry of pandemic products will be facilitated and rolled out by the WHO, without any oversight, transparency, and accountability mechanisms.”

In a statement to CNSNews, WHO confirmed that:

- The president of the United States has ten months from the date that the Director-General issues a formal notice of the amendments to reject or voice reservations regarding any the amendments on behalf of his country.

- The amendments would come into force two months after the ten-month deadline passes, if the U.S. does not file reservations or reject them (12 months total from passage).

- The Director-General will issue the formal notice and the final text “in the coming weeks.”

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office sent a cease and desist letter to a resident over allegedly posting “election misinformation” online.

Robbin N. Liddell, chief of Nessel’s Criminal Trials Division, sent the letter to a Ross Township resident on July 24, informing the recipient that they were “in violation of Michigan election law,” The Midwesterner reported Tuesday.

Liddell wrote that the individual had “spread misleading or false election information regarding polling locations in Ross Township through on-line sites” and violated a state law that “prohibits and criminalizes this conduct.”

Terrorism - Heightened THREAT as of Aug 1, 2024

A Pakistani national with alleged ties to Iran has been charged in connection with a foiled plot to assassinate a politician or U.S. government officials on U.S. soil, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release and indictment unsealed on Tuesday.

Asif Merchant, also known as “Asif Raza Merchant,” 46, was charged with murder-for-hire as part of a scheme targeting public figures within the United States. He was apprehended and is currently in federal custody in New York.

OBSERVATION - There are probably dozens more like him roaming around out there.

Economy- HIGH Threat - as of AUG 5, 2024

Global and US markets are stabilizing, but still concerned after Monday’s fallout and happy words from the Fed. Breath is being held that it all can be kept duct taped together before the elections. A lot of economic confidence depends on the Fed dropping rates in September. However, a drop of a quarter point will not due much as the deeper damage is done and credit will still remain obscenely high.

U.S Defense confirms that an F/A-18 squadron from the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt has relocated to a regional airbase.

Twelve American F-22 Raptor jets made a stopover at RAF Lakenheath in the UK as they head towards an operational deployment in the U.S. Central Command area. This deployment is part of preparations for a potential Iranian attack on Israel and the escalation.

Russia -

RUMINT-
Russia has conditioned their transfer of air defense equipment and technology to Iran in exchange for a pledge from the mullah’s not to strike Israel and potentially starting a much broader regional conflict.

Additional unconfirmed reports that the Russian rail road network is coming apart at the seams. Sanctions combined with the war effort have limited supplies and materials to keep the rails repaired and the engines running.

Ukraine –

RUMINT. Ukrainian forces in a counter attack pushed Russian forces from the Zhovtnevyl microdistrict of Chasiv yar and back over the canal.

Soldiers, infantry fighting vehicles and tanks crossed into Russia from Ukraine and are now attacking the Russian Army in the Kursk region. This morning, the force has reportedly driven as deep as 15 km across a 10 km front into Russia. Russia reportedly scrambling to get reinforcements into the region. During the fighting a central gas pumping station was destroyed, it is one of the largest gas pumping stations in Russia, and the largest in transferring natural gas to Europe by land. The settlements of Nikolayevo-Daryino, Daryino and Sverdlikovo in Kursk region are now reportedly under control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Ukraine breaks its record for strike against the most distant oil refinery. The Transneft oil refinery in Usinsk in the Komi Republic was hit overnight. It’s more than 2000 km away.

Outlook —

This push into Russia is different from past crossings. Those were conducted by the Russian Freedom Legion / Russian Volunteer Corps and usually accompanied by an abundance of PR announcing the raids -which those basically were. Those PR announcements have been absent.

The tactical goal of this operation appears to be to capture/control key logistical lines of communication that the Russian Northern Army Group heavily relies upon. This consists of rail road nodes and highways that are carrying supplies to the Russian forces attacking on the Kharkiv and other axis further south and southeast. The speed of the advance indicates Russia was not expecting anything this aggressive.

The Ukraine forces have also come packing ADA. Already at least two of Russia’s advanced attack helicopters have been shot down along with at least one fighter/bomber.

This also occurs as Russia has directed its resources towards the Ocheretyne front. Time will tell just how much of a threat this can pose to Kursk.

Sepeculation and rumors continue. It is being reported that some Israeli officials believe that Iran is beginning to get “cold feet” and is now reconsidering a major response against Israel, due to the possibility of it causing a full-scale region war that they couldn’t win and losing valuable nuclear and oil facilities in the process. This may be moved along with Russian insistence.

Another rumor suggests that Hezbollah is getting impatient with Iran, and may soon launch their own unilateral attack on Israel. If Hezbollah tries to attack Israel in some major way, Beirut, the capital of Lebanon where Nashallah routinely hides, will be on the table.
This also coincides with thoughts that Iran is willing to toss Hezbollah under the bus like they did Hamas to protect its nuclear program.

Worst case planning points to at least two waves of attacks and could extend over several days. If Iran/Hezbollah hit any of the areas noted above, the red lines will have been crossed and israel will likely make a severe retaliatory strike.

West of Avdiivka, Russian advances continue. Vesele has been taken over and also visual confirmation of Russians inside Serhiivka has been confirmed. Ukraine has definitely not stabilized this direction, leading to Russia capturing more and more villages.

Confirmation that Ukraine has pushed Russian forces out of the canal district of Chasiv Yar and across the canal.

Outlook —

All heck continues in Kursk province. As this operation unfolds some more details have come out.
- Size wise, the Ukraine force is roughly equivalent to a NATO Corps size element, with 3-5 mechanized and tank heavy brigades.
- The major units involved are experienced, combat hardened elements and mech heavy in organization. This is in contrast to the largely green forces in last summer’s southern offensive.
- Special invasion markings indicate this has been planned for a while
- The efforts to gobble up terrain indicate this is more than just a raid, but a long term occupation.
- Russia was caught completely with their pants down. The Ukraine forces blew through two defensive lines with essentially no resistance.
- Ukraine using new tactics to counter Russian attack helicopters - FPV drones - and being successful.

Noted yesterday, this operation will substantially cut off logistics routes to Russian Group North forces - particularly in the Kharkiv sector. Ukraine forces overnight have been expanding the flanks of the salient while it appears that recon elements have penetrated even deeper than the main force into Russia. The immediate tactical goal of the operation appears to be to control the highlands in the region and choke off Russian logistics.

Fog of war kicking in on whether or not a similar offensive action towards Bilhorod is in the offing. I think there is a fair possibility .

This operation may well explain why forces have been limited in the Ocheretyne sector - possibly and economy of force operation - so that forces would be available for this strike.

Even before this operation, analysts were viewing the Russian offensive running out of steam, with likely only a couple more months of effectiveness before running out of steam. This action will put Russian forces in theatre under greater stress. With Russia concentrating in the Donbas region, any reinforcements have to be swung from this region - meaning a long march and a lot of work just to reach the battle. Ukraine has the advantage of internal lines of communication while Russia has to go all the way around just to get there. Another Russia option would be stripping other units closer to the fight, but then exposing them to the same lighting strike by Ukraine forces.
Right now, the unconfirmed reports from Russian milbloggers are that Russian is throwing units into the fight in a piecemeal manner - risking defeat in detail. Even throwing some residual Wagner elements as well as Chechen forces (who reportedly ran away at the first gun shots).

Besides the terrain, Ukraine may seek to circle back and entrap Russian border units. This is plausible given the poor quality units revealed by the offensive.

This action by Ukraine caught just about every one by surprise, especially the US as Ukraine did not inform us of this plan (and good for them). Ukraine has a lot of fight left in it and a bold, thought out plan like this is working.

I was reminded that it took Iran about 3 weeks to prepare and execute the April attack. While Iran left a lot of preparations in place, there are still a lot of things that have to come together as well.

The Iranian ongoing war game may well serve a a cover for the final deployment of assets necessary for the israel strike.

Hezbollah, OTOH, is capable right now of launching an attack and there is a lot of rumor that they are getting impatient with Iran and may go it alone. It has a store of 150,000 rockets and missiles, many of which are ready to fire in hidden, underground bunkers. While Hamas was able to launch over 3000 rockets in the first day of its Oct 7 attack, Hezbollah has the capability of launching far, far more. Their ground assault capabilities have been hurt in the tit for tat exchanges with Israel, so no massive surprise ground raids/assaults a la Oct 7 are expected. If they try, Israel has a massive build up of ground forces that would crush the Hezbollah forces.

So what is the game plan? Tons of speculation continues. Current analysis indicates that it will be a multi day assault in multiple waves. If Hezbollah launches first, the massive attack would give Iran some cover to make its final preparations and launch from Iran.

Further delay comes with growing threat that Iran’s plans - particularly cruise missiles and drones - will be stymied by a coalition of air forces like last time. More western (principally US) air force assets continue to pour into the region.

Hezbollah’s massive rocket capabilities will likely be able to locally overwhelm Israel Iron Dome systems and inflict some severe damage. US air craft and missile defenses on naval vessels are not capable of targeting these short ranged weapons. Longer ranged, more sophisticated ballistic missiles launched by Hezbollah could be intercepted by US missiles or Israeli Arrow systems.

Israeli response - in their words “disproportionate” I think any respect for biden or the US is out the door right now and he carries less influence than ever. I don’t think Israel will just pop an Iranian SAM site and call it good this time.

The region waits while Iran and Hezbollah continue to beat their chests and prepare for their attack.

Iran –

Iranian media in Iran is reporting that the military exercise has begun, and the guidelines on restrictions in certain areas in the west of the country have come into effect.

Joint exercises of the army and the Revolutionary Guards will be conducted in the western and central regions. The Iranians announced that the exercise will last three days and will include the launch of ballistic missiles, hypersonic missiles as well as UAVs.

OBSERVATION - See Israel above. These exercises are likely being used as cover to move weapons and prepare launch systems for the expected strike against Israel. It is likely designed to better prepare their air defense elements for any Israeli counter strike.

Syria -

Clashes reported between the Syrian Army, tribal groups, and the U.S-Backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) having escalated overnight in Northeastern Syria near the City of Deir ez-Zor, with Pro-Government forces reportedly coming within 100 Meters of American Troops located at MSS Green Village in the Al-Omar Oil Fields.

A U.S. judge on Wednesday dismissed much of Mexico’s $10 billion lawsuit seeking to hold U.S. gun manufacturers responsible for facilitating the trafficking of firearms to violent drug cartels across the U.S.-Mexico border.

I’ve not ignored the chaos in Bangladesh, only that in the scheme of things the potential for that to harm the US is relatively low. What is evident is that radical islamic factions are reaching for the jihad tool box more and more recently. Here in the US the biggest flashpoint continues to be US support to Israel. The FBI and Maui Police Department provided an update today with information on the explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) in Pukalani on Thursday. The agencies jointly issued a public safety warning yesterday regarding recent reports of IEDs recovered in the Kahului and Pukalani areas.

The incident occurred on Old Haleakalā Highway on Aug. 8, 2024 when an IED, which had been placed in a nearby trash receptacle, exploded. The explosion struck a passing vehicle, and the driver was transported to the hospital and released, according to the FBI.

“The FBI and MPD have identified and collected several IEDs which vary in size and shape, and has rendered them safe. The recovered devices have been located along roadways between Kahului and Kula, and were concealed from view in trash receptacles or other areas outside of plain view,” according to a joint news release.

The statement from Cheung came after the outlet had reportedly received “emails from an anonymous account with internal documents from former President Donald Trump’s campaign beginning around July 22.”

Cheung’s statement comes after Microsoft released a nine-page report on Friday revealing that it had been “tracking” activity that “increasingly points to Iran’s intent to influence this year’s US presidential election.”

OBSERVATION - The key here is that Walz fully knew the deployment was coming - and waited. The issue of a ‘stop loss’, an administrative measure to lock unit personnel in place to prevent key personnel disruptions and losses, was in place when Walz applied to retire. (my tour in Germany was extended due to stop loss executed for Desert Shield/Storm). CSM Julian makes it clear Waltz went behind his back (Julian was in a higher NG position and over Walz), he would have denied the retirement based on stop loss, because the unit was within a few weeks of deployment. Walz was in the command group and knew full well a deployment was coming. His last minute bail out was a disgrace to the NCO corps, his Stolen Valor claims negated any honorable mention of that service.

CNN panelists called for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris to face the media and answer voters’ questions Saturday on “The Chris Wallace Show.”

Russia continued drone attacks across Ukraine. Ukraine’s Air Force reports that they shot down 53 of 57 attack drones (UAVs).

A post on the force’s Telegram account lists a number of regions where the drones were destroyed, including Odesa, Kyiv, Sumy and Cherkasy.

Ukraine launched a large drone attack on the Kursk region. Russian ministry of defense claims 14 drones and 4 Tochka-U missiles were shot down over Kursk region, 16 more drone were shot down over Voronezh, Belgorod, Oryol and Bryansk regions. However, many explosions and large fires reported over the area.

Russian media reporting clashes or even new incursion in Belovsky district of Kursk region

Over 76,000 people have been evacuated from the Kursk region’s border districts overall, the regional emergencies ministry said. Previously, the mayor of Kursk said over 16,000 evacuees had applied for aid in the city of Kursk alone. 16,000 residents of areas near the border have evacuated due to the Ukrainian incursion, the mayor of Kursk said

It seems the Russians really have no idea how much is actually coming into Kursk, but given the amount of success the UA is having, some OSINT analysts believes 2 brigades are in, 4 more are on the way, and 8 brigades are in reserve. Ukraine holding very tight OPSEC, so these numbers are still speculative.

From Russian milblogger - TG Romanov_92, - an important few observations: (1) RU comms are apparently lacking or non-existent; (2) RuAF are using conventional bombs without UMPK kits; (3) the RU lines are so porous that when resistance is met, UA goes around them.

Two Russian battalions, the 17th battalion of the 488th regiment and the 31st battalion of the 102nd brigade, are reportedly encircled near Sudzha. Z-bloggers claim that the command is aware of the situation but is not taking action.

The Ukrainian Navy struck a Russian gas platform in the Black Sea, which housed technical reconnaissance equipment and up to 40 personnel. The platform is reportedly still burning.

Ukraine destroyed a massive Russian weapons supply in Rostov, Russia. Huge secondary explosions continued long after the strike.

Ukrainian artillery hit and destroyed a convoy carrying T-80 tanks of Russian forces near Koronevo Kursk region. A second convoy carrying hundreds of Russian soldiers was also destroyed by a HIMARs strike.
Outlook —

It is hard to summarize the action over the past few days as Ukraine has held to a pretty tight OPSEC regiment and most of the on the ground intelligence is coming from imbedded Russian milbloggers.

Bottom line up front is Russia has been totally messed up and Ukraine is laying it on thick and heavy.

If you view the little video showing the progress of the offensive, you’ll see that Ukraine is being successful applying combined arms tactics and mobile warfare - moving fast, bypassing pockets of resistance for follow on forces to elimate. Ukraine in less than a week has captured more territory than Russia has in the spring/summer offensive with far far fewer casualties. It was this kind of warfare that was hoped for during last summer’s Ukraine offensive.

From another tactical viewpoint - they are controlling the high ground that overlooks major supply routes (rail and roads). That success has resulted in at least two significant Russian reinforcement convoys being ambushed and eliminated - probably more have been hit.

This brings into focus the disorganized Russian attempts to shift forces to stop the assault. Russia has had their forces committed to trying to exploit marginal successes in the Ocheretyne / Donetsk regions - committing its limited reserves to the region. Available units for Russia consist of heavily depleted units pulled out of the fight and attempting to reconstitute.

Now throw into the mix the complexity of these forces loading up, driving a long distance around Ukraine, staging and entering into a fight they have little to poor intelligence about. Hence units are being thrown into the fray in a piecemeal fashion and are being defeated in detail.

This massive attempt to stop the offensive has now stripped critical forces from other areas of the front that could now be susceptible to Ukainian counter attacks.

Russia is in a serious fix as Ukraine is beginning to exploit another breakthrough to the east of the salient that could encircle the Russian forces in the Kharkiv region.

Ukraine threatens a major nuclear power plant as well as Kursk proper. Russia is lacking the coordination and forces to stop the assault in the near future. Ultimate Ukranian goals are still obscure, but the immediate goals appear to be lethally effective and just how deep Ukraine can plunge is limited only by the combat resources at hand.

Belarus -

Belarus is relocating “Iskander” missile systems and “Polonez” multiple rocket launchers to the border with Ukraine, according to the country’s Ministry of Defense. Additionally, Lukashenko has ordered the strengthening of military forces in the Gomel and Mozyr tactical directions.

The Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Belarus Olga Timush was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, a strong protest was lodged and a corresponding note was sent in connection with the violation of the border of the Republic of Belarus by a group of unmanned aerial vehicles launched from the territory of Ukraine.

OBSERVATION - It is still unlikely that the Belarus military will happily go to war against Ukraine at putin’s order. Even though they’ve received a lot of training by Russians and Wagners over the past couple years, they’ve seen the meat grinder in action and are not willing to become active participants. There are still elements of the military who are at odds over Lukashenko’s takeover of the govt.

Europe / NATO General –

French General Bertrand Toujouse warned Western officials that in the event of a Russian attack or invasion into Europe, NATO countries will have difficulties deploying troops and equipment across Europe’s many borders due to “administration red tape” and customs regulations. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius maintains that Russia could launch an invasion by 2029, although some European intelligence agencies believe that date is sooner.

Eyes still monitoring for the expected missile strikes from Hezbollah and Iran. Earlier, I thought the attack would be sooner, however, with the onset of Tisha B’Av, August 12, the intensity of the watch is increasing. This due to the arab history of striking on an Israeli high day - Yom Kippur and the Oct7 Hamas attacks for instance.

Iran’s military exercises designed to mask preparations for the attack continue. Hezbollah has less logistics to prepare so such exercises are not as necessary.

A multi-day attack is very likely and will result in serious counter strikes by Israel against both Hezbollah and Iran. Escalation beyond that is problematical.

The degree and size of the Iranian strikes has hit internal discord within the Iranian govt, but it appears that the religious rulers are overruling the new Iranian president. Can’t predict what will happen beyond this.

This next week could be huge and repercussions could be extensive from and attack of the size being conservatively speculated on.

Iran –

Iran’s new president Pezeshkian is battling the IRGC in an attempt to prevent all-out war with Israel, according to The Telegraph. Top generals in IRGC are insisting on a direct strike on Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities, focusing on military bases to avoid civilian casualties, in response to the killing of Hamas leader Haniyeh in Tehran. But Pezeshkian has suggested targeting “secret Israeli bases” in Iran’s neighboring countries, as it did in the past, before the first-ever direct attack on Israel in April
