You've probably read the recent story of a black cat who found a forever home in Maryland after being surrendered by her owner in Virginia because she wanted to cuddle. This time, it is a senior Florida dog who was returned by her human parents to the animal rescue in Sarasota County because she wanted to sleep in bed with them.
Its absolutely disgusting when people let their dogs in bed with them. Dogs are gross enough aa they are. They track everything they’ve stepped in or sat in outside, including their own waste. And the hair and shedding is another nasty issue. And people allow all of that nastiness in their clean beds.
Those rotten people shouldn’t be allowed to have pets. Cruelly abandoning a loving dog, just because she wants to sleep with her family is beyond cruel. This story is another example why I prefer animals to people.
My two dogs and cat are my family. My inside dog, a precious Blue Heeler- Pit Bull mix, is currently sleeping happily in his adorable Snoopy bed with all of his “babies”.
Funny story—we had a friend who was getting married.
His fiance told him that he had to get rid of the dog or the marriage was off...so....
We said we would take the Springer Spaniel off his hands (no charge).
We knew the dog was a bit mischievous and might be a handful.
What we didn’t know was that she liked to sleep on the bed....and the spot she liked best was next to my (partially bald) head!
After a couple of weeks of that she decided that my feet smelled better.
;-)
That is so fekkin stupid.
Bring him over. Jack sleeps by my feet and Danial sleeps tucked into my armpit. Both are chihuahuas. Both under the covers.
The girls dish ended up growing all kinds of horrible things while the dogs was pretty mild by comparison.
If it’s a senior dog probably not.
“My dogs sleep on our bed. 2 German Shepherds.”
My German shepherds prefer sleeping next to the bed. Once in a while they will jump on the bed for a few minutes and I don’t mine.
I agree, it could be difficult. 13 years ago we adopted a rescue dog who was not housetrained. It was either let him sleep in the house and pick up poop the next day or let him sleep outside where he would bark all night.
No and no. We put him in the crate. The first night he howled and cried for hours. The second night he howled and cried for maybe an hour. The third night was golden. And he has been happily crated every night since then.
Everything’s changed since Frontline came onto the market.
I love my dog but she isn’t allowed on the beds, for your reasons, and because of ticks.
I had dog-walking friends who let their dogs sleep with them and they said they were always finding ticks in bed.
No. No. No.
I think I would have picked the dog.
They are not accessories. However they are not humans and if it doesn’t work they need to go to a more congenial environment.
As a matter of fact fostered humans are moved on if the situation doesn’t work.
Your animals are family substitutes. Many people have animals as pets.
And you seem to be fekkin cold.
“And you seem to be fekkin cold.”
And I don’t let dogs lick me right after they clean their butt holes.
I bet your bald feet stayed warm :-)
I think I’ve read that dogs’ mouths are cleaner than those of humans...
(At least they don’t swear and try to hide it with euphemisms. Dogs are pretty direct.)
“I think I’ve read that dogs’ mouths are cleaner than those of humans...”
You don’t really believe that, do you?
Yes, I do.
Dogs tend to do pretty natural stuff, against which they have defenses. Humans do all kinds of weird stuff...
I’ve caught some nasty bugs from humans. I’ve never caught anything from dogs or cats, either from scratch or bite.
(The pigeons are still a question - watch this space.)
