On a recent walk, I came across a neighborhood littered with the yard sign in this photo. It seems the provocative platitudes we’ve seen on bumper stickers for a century have now taken root in our yards.
And for the same reason: To tell the world that the sign-planter holds wonderful beliefs that he’s willing to impose upon and attribute to the rest of his family. It’s surely not because the sign-planter thinks he’s persuading anyone of the rightness of his position, as if the neighbors reading the sign will say to themselves, “Gee, ‘Democracy dies in darkness’ is a great point. I’d never thought of it that way.”
OK, people preen. And leftists impose their beliefs on others. It’s what they do. But this one is stupid.
First, “Science is Real” is gibberish. The issue is not whether science is real or fake. The issue is whether enough data has been collected, sorted and analyzed correctly to arrive at a factual explanation for the particular subject under investigation. Science is not a thing, but a methodology. Science is the process of collecting data and rigorously analyzing it to understand a natural phenomenon.
To say “Science is Real” shows a fundamental lack of understanding about science. It’s like saying, “anthropology is real” or “chemistry is real.” I’ve known many scientists and not one has ever said, “Science is Real.”....

I wear a mask every time I go out. Probably will until the Tennessee’s active case count drops below 4000. But I only go out once a week, so it’s a very very minor inconvenience.

Saw one today the read “Hope is Not Cancelled.” What is that even supposed to mean?
We have a bit of a sign war going on between two neighbors...before the election, we had quite a few Trump flags and yard signs up all over the neighborhood, we also had a few Biden signs....no big deal, they all came down except for one house after the election.
That one house still had their Trump yard sign up, across the street a Biden supporter moved in a couple of months before the election....
About two weeks ago, the Biden supporter put up a yard sign that had a BLM clinched fist on it, like a black power sign from the 60s...in addition they put of a flag that resembled an American Flag..except the white strips were replace with black strips and the white stars were replaced with black stars and the white background behind the stars was green....so instead of red, white and blue, it is green, red, and black....
sort of an in your face to the Trump supporter...the two houses face each other...
The Trump supporter took down the yard sign for a week and when the Biden supporter kept their sign/flags up, the Trump sign was put back in place a couple of days ago....
I want to put up a similar sign that says”
We believe Jesus died for our sins
We believe all colors matter
Science answers some but not all questions...
I've thought of printing signs to stick next to them that look like an award, like "First Place Virtue Signaler" on a blue or gold ribbon, trophy, etc.
There’s a black truck in my town that has those windshield letterings across the top of their windshield. It says “Biden sniffs kids” in all caps! I spewed my drink when I first saw it!
I know someone whose back door has a label “Beware of Owner” accompanied by a pic of a used shooting target.
They are virtue signaling that you are not welcome there. Consider going to a better church ⛪🙏.
