Many FReepers have knowledge to share about improving and maintaining health and would like to share it and learn from others; and others may not know much yet but want to learn. Some of us don't have much money for good insurance or doctors, some want to try other methods besides prescription meds, and some have experience in treating and solving health problems.
More and more "regular" doctors have accepted treatment methods such as the benefits of acupuncture, massage for many conditions, better diet, use of herbs and so on. There are limits, and often side effects, to some standard medical efforts.
My field is Ayurvedic herbalism and related measures, and have a lot of information I can post when I have time. I have seen herbs and sometimes dietary changes help people (including myself) with issues such as rheumatoid arthritis, high BP, gallstones, kidneystones, repeated boils, UTIs, prostate problems, insomnia, allergies, urinary incontinence, and many more. I hope to learn a lot from others with their knowledge and experience.
There are many "old fashioned" home care methods that were in common use a few generations ago that actually work and are cheap, such as castor oil packs, fomentations using alternating hot and cold water, and the like, which are easy to do. I am sure there is a lot of knowledge here on Free Republic that can be shared.
I would like this thread to stay civil without distruption, so my request is that people who think natural health methods are bunkum, make your own thread.

Glad you’re getting relief. Be sure to take the supporting nutrients with the iodine, which is good salt, vitamin c, mag and selenium. You might want to switch to lugol’s form of iodine too
Be sure it’s grass-fed and organic and offers 10 grams per scoop Plus. Otherwise there’s a number of friends out there that work

Except:
“Fiber is the closest thing we have to a true superfood or super-nutrient since its a part of so many different foods. Eating a fiber-rich diet is associated with better gastrointestinal health and a reduced risk of heart attacks, strokes, high cholesterol, obesity, type 2 diabetes, even some cancers. Thats because fiber is amazingly helpful in many ways: It slows the absorption of glucose which evens out our blood sugar levels and also lowers cholesterol and inflammation.
These benefits grow the more fiber people eat. In a recent Lancet review of 185 studies and 58 clinical trials, researchers found that if 1,000 people transitioned from a low-fiber diet (under 15 grams per day) to a high-fiber diet (25 to 29 grams per day), theyd prevent 13 deaths and six cases of heart disease.
If fiber were a drug, wed be all over it. But the average American gets just 16 grams per day half of what we should be eating.
A big reason for that has to do with what we now eat. Instead of munching on fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and seeds, more than half of the calories Americans consume come from ultra-processed foods. On any given day, nearly 40 percent of Americans eat fast food. These prepared and processed meals tend to be low in fiber, or even fiber free. (A cup of cooked oatmeal has 4 grams of fiber and a pear has 6 grams, while a McDonalds hamburger has one gram and soda has none.)
This pattern of eating is not just leading to weight gain and obesity-related health issues; its hurting our gastrointestinal health in ways researchers are only beginning to understand. Thats because fibers benefits are a lot more complicated than our prune-peddling moms and grandmothers appreciated.
Fiber doesnt just help us poop better it also nourishes our gut microbiome. The science, while still pretty nascent, is fascinating and it points to the fact that the fiber gap may be even more damaging than weve realized.....SNIP...CONTINUES AT LINK”

“About 5% of large water-treatment facilities (serving more than 100,000 persons) in the United States use chlorine dioxide to treat drinking water. An estimated 12 million persons may be exposed in this way to chlorine dioxide and chlorite ions. “
https://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/phs/phs.asp?id=580&tid=108
Remember, hypochlorite is a chemical naturally found in all human granulocyte cells and is used to kill infectious microorganisms.
So the answer to whether chlorine dioxide can be used for health purposes is probably a yes.
You can decide for yourself, obviously. But most people who study the effects of the chemicals in drinking water agree that the chemicals in municipal drinking water are harmful.
Plus, the “treatment” dose of chorine dioxide is much higher than is permitted in municipal drinking water. I drink my own well water and if I am in a town or city and even smell the city water coming out of the faucet, I am amazed how disgusting it smells, especially the strong chlorine smell.
I guess you are determined to believe that chlorine dioxide is good for people, nothing more I can add.
Please add to ping list.
Much abliged.
You’re on!
You’re on.
I would agree with fiber, except for the rare person who has some condition that is aggravated by fiber (NOT me).
I have a friend with IBS and if she eats much fiber it’s katy bar the door - the bathroom door from the inside, that is.
As with any method/herb/etc, due diligence is advised.
Of course some things are obviously good for everyone - pure water, clean air, appropriate exercise, sufficient but not too much sleep etc. Even these must be adjusted individually but none can possibly be bad.

I have learned about 'raw' vitamins from my gastro-doctor ... now I NEVER purchase vitamins from Walmart or Walgreens', etc. Instead, I purchase vitamins that are natural from real food (no fillers, etc)...Standard Process is a great company and has benefited me and my health issues. My nutritionist, Becky, is the greatest with regard to health education and natural healing information.
Her website is:
www.prohealthsolutions.com
In addition, I use enzymes to manage blood pressure...I am allergic to aspirin (plus aspirin may contribute to macular degeneration). I use Vitalzym and Cardio Vitalzym...
You can also purchase these supplements on Amazon, but I prefer to speak with Becky, a certified nutritionist, who is most knowledgeable and answers my questions. I can highly recommend her.
It’s fairly straightforward that it would have no use a daily supplement.
But lots of potential for acute illness, like infection.
Your own blood cells are using it as we speak.
I use immuplex and congoplex (Standard Process) to avoid colds and build up my immune system. Plus, I use Vitamin D3 with K1 and K2 from Designs for Health. You can purchase on Amazon. I purchase from www.prohealthsolutions.com as I like to speak with a real person...the certified nutritionist, Becky, is my go-to person for all my health issues. My vitamin D levels were 19% 3 years ago...by taking Vitamin D3 and following the protocols...my levels are now over 50%....to fight cancer, I need to be above 70%.
Please add me to your ping list.
:-)
My own blood cells make a type which is natural to the body.
A form manufactured industrially and taken orally is totally different.
I know too much to think otherwise. I did hours of research and not just those who were promoting it. I looked at a chemists forum. I also saw my friend suffering symptoms, and mutual friends, one of who had to go to the hospital.
There are many methods that can help with infections and acute illness that are not dangerous and actually work. I know some and use and recommend to clients. I would tell any client or friend, to never use a dangerous chemical which is nothing more than a powerful industrial sanitizer, used in morgues and hospitals.
You’re on.
I had moeant to post more today but today and yesterday was busy making 5 herb formulas and other stuff.
I’ll be back tomorrow with info about a sleep/stress/pain herb formula and more.
Are the vitamins you use actually made from food or plants? Or are they synthesized? Last time I researched vitamins (a few years ago) only two brands made vitamins with no synthetic vitamins at all, one was Rainbow Light (I think that was the name) and some were natural, some synthesized), and I can’t recall the other company. Non-synthesized vitamins do not have 100% of the RDA, or rarely. Anyway, I will be back tomorrow.
Since you’re taking such a strong position on this, let’s hold you accountable.
I’d like a well articulated, intelligible and detailed description of the difference between hypochlorite occurring naturally in white blood cells and hypochlorite derived from a jug of chlorine dioxide.
I did all the research I needed to do, quite a few years ago, to be 200% convinced that ingesting chlorine dioxide internally is not only useless, but potentially dangerous. I am not a chemist or pathologist or any kind of professional laboratory analyst. If you want to take it orally, you’ll have to do your own research.
Hold yourself accountable for substances you want to ingest. Since I did my research a couple of computers ago, I don’t have it any more.
