Natural Health

Many FReepers have knowledge to share about improving and maintaining health and would like to share it and learn from others; and others may not know much yet but want to learn. Some of us don't have much money for good insurance or doctors, some want to try other methods besides prescription meds, and some have experience in treating and solving health problems.

More and more "regular" doctors have accepted treatment methods such as the benefits of acupuncture, massage for many conditions, better diet, use of herbs and so on. There are limits, and often side effects, to some standard medical efforts.

My field is Ayurvedic herbalism and related measures, and have a lot of information I can post when I have time. I have seen herbs and sometimes dietary changes help people (including myself) with issues such as rheumatoid arthritis, high BP, gallstones, kidneystones, repeated boils, UTIs, prostate problems, insomnia, allergies, urinary incontinence, and many more. I hope to learn a lot from others with their knowledge and experience.

There are many "old fashioned" home care methods that were in common use a few generations ago that actually work and are cheap, such as castor oil packs, fomentations using alternating hot and cold water, and the like, which are easy to do. I am sure there is a lot of knowledge here on Free Republic that can be shared.

I would like this thread to stay civil without distruption, so my request is that people who think natural health methods are bunkum, make your own thread.

I wash my face by scrubbing it with a paste of bicarbonate and water. Very soothing too.

B.Soda gets in my eyes too much! I do wash my hair with it as I can’t stand any shampoos. Plus cheaper. Then I rinse with a very dilute vinegar/water rinse. Important for skin Ph. I would suggest rinsing face with that too after the b.soda. I assume bicarbonate is b.soda?

I have long hair so it’s a bit troublsome but it has to be washed!

Why can’t you eat any grains? I know some people (small %) are gluten intolerant - celiac disease - but no grains at all? I don’t know if your skin would react but I seriously doubt it.

I buy oat flour.I will write up my recipe later, today will be very busy so probably tomorrow.

I use rose water after and I avoid the area around the eyes, skin there is too delicate for the b.soda.

Just getting to my facial cleanser recipe. Not really exact, more an ingredient list, subject to what’s on hand.

I actually like all besan flour but I have almost a 1/2 gallon jar of oat flour and need to use it as I am not doing much baking lately. Both flours work very well. Besan flour is traditionally used in Indian cooking. It is made from channa dahl which is a type of chick pea. It is very versatile, nutritious and I use in the kitchen. The chick peas are toasted first, then ground very fine. Because it is pre-toasted, it is very easy to digest. Good for people who cannot eat grains!

It is also traditionally used as a skin cleanser.

Into a good size bowl:

More or less equal amounts of besan flour and oat flour.
In smaller amounts, I add these powdered herbs:

Turmeric - very good for all skin types
Powdered rose petals - esp. good for delicate skin or one that reddens easily, or sensitive skin (raising my hand...)
Powdered lavender - because it’s nice and smells good
Red Sandalwood powder - good cleanser, good for skin

There are other powdered herbs one can add for various kinds of skin. Powdered herbs:

Rosemary - for sluggish skin, increase circulation
Small amount of ginger - for very sluggish low circ. skin
Neem - if prone to pimples or other type bumps

Probably other useful herbs and I can look up but this is a good start.
Use a wire whisk to mix very well; if it seems at all clumpy or not well mixed, push through a sieve.

I store mine in a glass jar in a cupboard and put some in a smaller plastic container in the bathroom to wash my face. I put a heaping teaspoon into a wet palm and rub into wet face and neck, rubbing well, eyes tightly closed. And rinse well. Then I use my own skin oil after. Rose water is always good first.

If you use in the shower, it gets all over the place like shower curtain. Very icky.

I buy the oatflour as I also bake with it, use in pancakes etc.

This is the last besan flour I got, and I can give some recipes if anyone wants. High in protein. Besan is NOT the same as regular chick pea flour, which is raw, not ground as finely, and they don’t work the same (or digest the same).

Hmmmm...I just looked at the reviews and now the same brand appears to be a blend of channa and split peas. So...don’t get that kind.

These brands look good. Or if you live near any Indian groceries you can check there. Usually descriptions of besan flour will say chickpeas but believe me besan flour is very different from “regular” chick pea flour.

Thank you so much. I had not heard of the essential oil powders, like lavender or sandalwood powder. Do you get those on Amazon? Thanks for the ingredient list. I might also try baking with besan flour too!

This is an interesting article about fomentation, which is an effective natural treatment using hot/cold packs:

Agatha M. Thrash, M.D. wrote, “Use the fomentations for pneumonia, bronchitis, coughs, arthritis, colitis, peptic ulcer, systemic diseases such as lupus, infectious mononucleosis, or influenza. It should not be used in tuberculosis or heart attacks.”

Thanks for the link. I was treated with alternating hold/cold packs at a clinic in Portland OR decades ago, it was connected with a naturopathic college. I have no idea if it is still in existice, I hope so. I was being treated for hellacious PMS plus some cervix erosion (can’t even remember what that is exactly but I think can lead to cancer).

I was laid on a table like a massage table, unclothed from I guess waist up, lying on a wool blanket. The attendant applied alternating hot wet (squeezed out) towels over my entire exposed front, instantly wrapped me up in the wool blanket, I think for about 3 minutes. Then a cold wet (squeezed) towel for 1 minute. Quite a few applications. It was an incredible experience. Extremely relaxing to the entire body.

I was also administered a homeopathic remedy, told to come back in a month, and they adjusted the remedy.

After that, both conditions were cured.

PS - I have applied the alternating hot/cold with DH when he was sick a couple of times. Helps clear the lungs with respiratory illness, and also good for pain and tension in muscles. He resists (haha) but then is glad afterwards.

Posted here as encouraged by LJ (thank you LJ)...

This post was in reply to the video posted here, the topic of which is that all cancers are parasites;

https://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/4047852/posts?page=1163#1163

~~~~~~~~~
followup...
A few weeks back, I posted about two skin cancers found by the derm dr. To quickly recap... basal on the back of hand and squeama [sic?] on nostril found through scraping ad biopsy. I declined mose procedure due to a concern with deformity on nostril. After biopsy, they both generally healed. Biopsy was ~1 year ago.
About 3 months ago, noticed slow return at both sites. I took 12mg IVM, ten doses, over 18 days with fatty breakfast. dose on days 1 & 2, then every other day for the ten doses.
RESULT: REGROWTH STOPPED. The spot on nostril remained as a white spot, resembling a scar...maybe 1/4”. Spot on hand has gradually returned to a normal scar and I believe the initial scraping got nearly all of it out.
HERE’S THE UPDATE: (so sorry to be graphic) About three weeks ago the spot on nostril itched and became inflamed just a bit. It turned out to be a small pimple and discharged what would appear to be a normal white blood cell infused pimple. It healed. All good, I thought. Then, about 10 days ago it began to peel and itch again. I assumed it was a pimple again, so I again preformed a draining, but what came out was COMPLETELY different. This time, the consistency was a different texture and NOT a blackhead, NOT a hardened whitehead, but to my best guess was actually the remaining cancerous cells discharged. It was more clear, held together well and appeared to be dead tissue.
Now it has COMPLETELY healed.
What had been a white looking scar for the past year and indented, is normal skin tissue with only very tiny evidence that any event happened at that spot whatsoever.
My personal thoughts on this experience...
I believe the biopsies both left residual cancerous cells, which regrew, that the IVM completely killed them and that what I presumed to be scar tissue on the nostril, was actually residual cancer. Once that cancerous tissue was dead, the growth stopped, but the dead tissue remained. I suspect that the initial pimple was my white blood cells fighting the dead cancerous tissue as a foreign invader and that the white blood cells were being effective in the fight. Last, I suspect that the final discharge was the cancerous tissue being expelled from the skin.
Sorry for being graphic here. Hey, it’s life though.
Final thoughts...
I wonder how many loved ones we’ve lost to cancer and more recently the coof because IVM has been suppressed and that the true parasite origin of cancer has not been addressed in the medical field.
I’ve shared the video posted with many friends, one of whom is a good friend with fair skin who looks like an escapee from a leper colony after the dermatologist’s blowtorch.
Thank you for the video and blessings to all.
...that is all
The herb powders are not essential oil powders, just powdered herbs. I got the lavender years ago from some place that doesn’t sell it any more. I can post where I got the sandalwood later when I figure out if it is still available there. Besan flour makes many good dishes; I like savory pancakes, you can search “besan flour recipes”.
I have been taking Ivm quarterly for about ten years as a melanoma survivor.
Fenbendazole (anti-parasitic) also kills some cancer cells.
Both are very safe.
