DNA Testing Companies Admit Adding Fake African Ancestry To White Profiles To “Screw With Racists”

Who were your ancestors? What is your ethnic background composed of? Sites like Ancestry.com and 23andme have always been some go to sources in answering all of your toughest questions. But how accurate are they? In a recent interview with Cracked, one of the major ancestry testing companies, (which specific company is unknown) spilled the beans on what really happens when you purchase an ancestry kit. While I can’t say I’m surprised, you may be shocked to learn that these ancestry sites aren’t always as accurate as they claim to be. Beyond this, they’ve also admitted to tampering with the result to “screw with racists”.

When Inside Edition had a set of triplets send their spit in to Ancestry.com and 23andMe, they got wildly different results from both services. Neither gave each triplet the same ancestry results. “Tests can be a crapshoot. For DNA tests, they use genetic markers, which are little variations in the DNA one or several groups may have, but others do not. The more markers there are, the more accurate the test will be.”

Shocked yet? Yeah, I didn’t think so. A lot of my friends have taken these types of DNA Tests, and most of them come back saying, “I don’t think this is entirely accurate…”

Remember when white supremacist Craig Cobb found out that he was 14% black? Well as it turns out, there’s a possibility that those numbers could have been fudged with.

My YDNA is I M253, the Viking gene. This kinda confirms that my family were Norman oppressors, Family lore and the fact that my family name originated in the Vale of Glamorgan in Wales from a Norman family.

The interesting part is that I got a +/- 2% African I assume from old Ma. Old Ma was of Irish descent and had a rare AB blood type common only in the Basques and the Moors of North Africa, got offered a lot of $$$ for pint of blood, had to turn down because of age.

The only reason I noticed is that my Aunt lost one kid and each of her others had birth problems because of blood type mismatch.

The tests are often spot on. I know several people that have identified relatives. Even a person that discovered their biological father. The heritage identifiers might be skewed, but not the DNA markers.

My extended family is engaging it for that precise reason. That's the only realistic use for these tests.

When the employees are running wild and out of control, that merely means management needs some jail time and to pay fines and settlements. This is a good one for the weekly Digest ping. Thanks.

Be careful. You might find out your father is not who you thought he was. That or you might find some step siblings. I know someone that this happen to. Kind of an odd situation to say the least.

LOL - that was read after my commenting. Fake blacks, and fake squaws. These two give Santa credibility, not to mention his flying reindeer.

For us, this is driven by aunts and uncles in their 80s and 90s, engrossed in family and joining the ancestors. Very cool stuff and gratifying for the older generation.

I call BS in this. Ancestry is Mormon owned In Lehi, Utah They have their own racism in their church still. Stating Hebrew DNA in results for Native Americans, I would believe. But there are too many In that part of Utah that still believe blacks hold the mark of Cain.

We'd be even more confused if we could go back more than a few centuries.

I had mine tested on ancestry.com. There were no surprises. However, if I found out they had monkeyed with the results--and taken my money and given me a phoney analysis--I would be furious, and I would demand my money back--and maybe more!

If you’ve ever seen the commercial of the lilly white woman getting a 26% Native American rating on the pie chart, how does that work if one of her grand-parents were not pure Indian. If not adopted, how could she not know that? Now she wants the bennies.

You think this is bad, the “dog breed” tests are even worse.

A friend sent in the DNA of her Portuguese Podengo Medio, Darby [sister to my Gypsy] and got back completely ludicrous results.

They said Darby was part pit bull, part some kind of mastiff and several other insane conjectures including collie.

Our dogs are Portuguese Podengo Medios, a breed which is thousands of years old and has never been mixed with anything else, ever, since they were first created.

Total scam designed to steal money from people who love their dogs.

I searched the web for confirmation on this article. I didn’t find any. But I did find an interesting tidbit in another article that said people of hispanic origin often are told they are Native American.
My sister had it done and she was told she is I think it’s 38% Native American. We know that is odd because we should be 50% Hispanic and the other half a mix of English, Irish, German, like that.
Another sister is part African also. She used a different company. I believe it was 8% African.
I have eight sisters and three of them have done test from two different companies and had different results.
