Ive been in New York this morning to attend a meeting organized by Dr. Ben Carson and others who invited Donald J. Trump to speak to evangelical Christian leaders from across the country. Governor Mike Huckabee was moderator and Mr. Trump answered questions on a wide range of issues.
Dr. James Dobson asked the first questionhe asked Mr. Trump what he would do concerning religious liberty issues. Mr. Trump said the number one thing he could do for religious liberty would be to appoint great Supreme Court justices and he reminded everyone that the next president could appoint up to five Supreme Court justices. That's incredibly important for the future of our nation.
Ronnie Floyd, the outgoing president of the Southern Baptist Convention, asked what he would do to address poverty, crime, and racial tensions. Mr. Trump said that he felt like the best thing he could do would be to create jobs for Americans and that would have a great impact.
David Jeremiah asked how Trump would support Israel. Mr. Trump said that Israel is our number one friend in the Middle East and that the Iran deal was a disasterhe said he would stand with Israel. Others ask good questions as well, and we prayed together for America.
This years election is critical for our nationwere at a turning point. Im not endorsing any candidates, but I am going to all 50 states holding prayer rallies with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association #DecisionAmericaTour.
Thousands in every state have come out to their capitol to stand together in prayer for their state and for the nation. Our only hope is God. Now Im on my way to Washington where I will be on Fox News On The Record with Greta Van Susteren for her 7:00 (ET) program tonight. I hope youll watch and let me know what you think.
Anyone and everyone can endorse, it is just that your organization can't endorse.
As I recall you are a CruzBot and a Manhattanite at that. Pardon my not giving a flying F if your sensibilities are outraged by the other two outstanding FR members.
As if Kerry would have been better.
Agree.
Ashamed? Interesting, coming from someone with If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all on your home page.
He may not be able to endorse anyone, on pain of his organization losing its tax free status. If that is the case, he is smart, not a cuck.
I've seen numerous posts on here where they're utterly convinced that ALL Catholics are uniformly Democrat but there's a ton of patriotic conservative Jews in America just itching to vote for the latest Tea Party candidate IF he screams loudly enough about how much he loves Israel.
If you look at the actual data its absolutely nothing like their fantasy world.
About 50% of Jews are non-practicing and "Jewish" only in terms of ethnic ancestry. But even among practicing Jews, both Conservative and Reform Jews are very liberal and vote heavily Dem (and according to a bunch of "Evangelical" FReepers, they "don't count" as "real" Jews anyway). Orthodox Jews, on the other hand, are mostly conservative and LEAN (but are not overwhelming) Republican. They are also only 10% of Jewish Americans. Jews themselves are less than 2% of America, so these "Evangelicals" are talking about chasing down 10% of the people in a 1.5% population sample overall. Nationally, Othodox Jews are only a tiny, tiny, tiny, speck of the vote in U.S. elections, and can't really swing any elections because they're not concentrated in any key areas where it would matter).
Catholics, by contrast, make up a huge chunk of the electorate -- roughly 25% of all Americans, and there are numerous areas (unfortunately most are major cities where Dems control everything) where they are the majority. About 50% of Catholics lean Republican. In sheer numbers, that a yuuuuuuuuge (to use Trump's terminlogy) voting bloc in America. It hasn't swung any elections simply because Catholics almost ALWAYS tend to vote the way the country as a whole votes. A notable exception from 50 years ago is when stupid Catholics voted for "fellow Catholic" JFK in overwhelming numbers, leading to the "Catholics are owned by the Dems" myth today.
An interesting exception to all these rules was the special election for Anthony Weiner's seat in 2011. That was actually a "perfect storm" of Orthodox Jews (Weiner's district has a MUCH higher percentage of Orthodox Jews than other CD districts in America, including heavily Jewish districts) aligning with conservative Catholics. Exit polls showed up Republican Bob Turner (a Roman Catholic) did extremely well with both groups. (Protestants, and I'm guessing most of them were "minority" groups like blacks) narrowly voted for the RAT candidate). In short, that unique situation of a Republican winning in an entrenched urban RAT district was entirely due to conservative Catholic and conservative Jewish support, and had nothing to do with the protestant voters in the district)
In an ideal situation, we could use the 2011 special election as a template nationwide to defeat RATs in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, etc. ... but good luck trying to find the demographics of Weiner's district in the rest of America.
You are spouting complete ignorance as you disparage one of the few remaining leading lights in this country. Franklin Graham was the one public figure that denounced Paul Ryan’s funding of Planned Parenthood and left the Republican Party at the same time. Do you remember that? Was he a coward when he was the only one, political or religious, that made that stand. He announced at that time that he would visit every state in the US to emphasize the importance of this election.
On this thread alone, Franklin Graham was criticized for supporting conservatives who disappointed in the past, like GWB. Now he’s being urged to become highly partisan and support someone who has been previously pro-choice. At the same time he runs a huge worldwide missionary organization like Samaritan’s Purse. But you sit there in your living room and type away names like “coward . . . coward . . . coward!!!”
Thank you for coming to the defense of Franklin Graham. Good job.
I am humbled and honored by your words.
Thank you, FRiend.
Listening to Franklin Graham it’s obvious that Trump is his pick. Problem is he made a statement at the beginning of the primary that he would not endorse anyone this election.
He is stuck with that and will keep his word.
Then that was not too bright, was it?
It is not unusual to stay “neutral” during the primary season. The “highly partisan” might reasonably apply here.
But DJT is the presumptive nominee, now it is a different ballgame. It is no longer “highly partisan” to support DJT vs. HRC. It is dangerous.
He should be clear with exactly what he was pledging: to be neutral in the primaries, but support the nominee; or, to be neutral in the general.
The former is one thing, the latter is foolhardy and possibly lethal to the American Christian community.
Oops, correction needed:
It is dangerous NOT to support DJT vs HRC.
NEVER been a cruzbot.
Been on the Trump Train for more than a year. Was willing to accept Cruz as our nominee if he got it. (reluctantly)
He did not.
I am a Trump supporter, but I was willing to support our nominee. (TRUMP! Please not Cruz!) Like so many here.
“... and a Manhattanite at that.”
Who in the hell are you confusing me with? I’ve never lived in Manhattan.
I’m from Alaska, Michigan, Wyoming, Texas, and AZ. With a bit of Germany and Georgia thrown in. (Thank you US Army)
I did spend some time in upstate NY after a relative died... other than that... nawah. Never considered myself a New Yorker.
You call out me for calling out a man who REFUSES to call out and fight evil?
And *I* am the bad guy here?
How abut YOU learn how to stand on the word of G-d instead of worshiping the words of mortal men.
Ya might find yourself doing a bit better in the afterlife with that tactic.
Hi,
The poster was giving you a compliment, Marie.
Their comment was directed to Guenevere, in response to her post to you.
He was defending you as an outstanding Freeper : )
He included you in his post to her because he was talking about you.
Cheers,
RWL
He’s not a ‘leading light’ if he doesn’t LEAD and if he doesn’t hold up his LIGHT.
He’s hiding his light in fear of public backlash. He KNOWS right from wrong and he’s trying to stand in the shadows to prevent personal backlash.
That is a coward.
Period.
And an acknowledgment of post misdirected. Miss fire! lol!
I ate the original poster as well. Hope she enjoyed her butt-chewing and picked up her sword!
We are at war right now and we can’t tolerate those who are weak and limp. We’ve got to hold them to the fire and make them take a stand. A stand that may not be ‘popular’ but that is right.
Agreed.
Onward Christian Soldiers!
