In case you haven’t heard, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is going to spend $50 million in 2014 to build a “nationwide grass-roots network” to motivate anti-gun voters. That’s right, he’s trying to create an organization to oppose the NRA. You can read more about Bloomberg’s efforts in the NY Times.
While I think Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety campaign is ridiculous and a waste of money, right now I just want to focus on this image that was posted on what appears to be the Facebook page of the movement.
Notice anything wrong with the photo?
That’s right, the bullet is exiting the barrel with the shell casing still attached. Umm…
One Facebook user, Butthurt Police, summed it up with this comment, “Lulz, what an idiot. The bullet comes out the muzzle and the casing gets ejected from the breech. If you guys don’t know jack shit about firearms, why should we allow you to dictate firearm policy?”
Facebook and Twitter users went off about the photo with similar comments all day on Sunday.
But hold the phone, is this actually the Facebook page of Bloomberg’s organization?
It has the correct website listed on the image, but it’s tough to say if it’s really their Facebook page. Initially, their group’s name on Facebook was stolen by a pro-gun group. (LOL) Then, they were reportedly using this Demand Action Facebook page instead. But now it appears the Everytownforgunsafety.org Facebook page is representing the organization — and that’s where the above photo was posted.
If the photo is not from Bloomberg’s organization, it’s a big troll job. If it is from his organization, they might need to add a few more gun experts (or at least someone who has seen how a gun works) to their team.
As the guy said - so many things wrong with this you just know these people know nothing about firearms. There is no reason to believe anything they say on the subject when they have demonstrated such a complete lack of knowledge on the topic.

To be fair, I sat in a CC class once and observed an NRA poster on the wall that made the same error.

This is why there can be no rational discussion about ‘assault weapons’ being no different than a 1950’s hunting rifle. These people refuse to actually learn anything about firearms...because they already know they’re right.
I used to think that the anti-second amendment leaders were extremely smart, machiavellian elitists who wanted us disarmed for nefarious purposes.
But after reading of Bloombergs efforts, and “I will walk into heaven” smugness, I have come to another conclusion:

No, its one of those rocket rounds that shoots into space. That ‘case’ is actually a fuel tank and it gets ejected once the bullet leaves the atmosphere.

Just for kicks, lets say the picture showed a bullet coming out of the barrel instead of a loaded cartridge. Then the picture would have its proper art and message. The message is "Who is faster than a speeding bullet? Nobody."

No no no... there is no rifling in that barrel so its obviously a smooth bore muzzleloader. Some idiot didn’t have any bullets so he shoved a cartridge down the barrel on top of the black powder charge.

This is not new. years ago when Reagan was shot, TIME or Newsweek did an illustrated story on how the bullet left the pistol and hit the president. All those bullets still had their casings when they left the pistol.
Some movie poster about 20 years ago also showed a bullet (with casing) heading for the target.
It does show that the anti-gunners don’t have the slightest idea of what they are talking about.
Bloombutt will have to spend more than 50 million dollars to counter the NRA. That comes to less than $.50 for firearm owning family, and less than $.10 per firearm, and I’m probably grossly inflating the dollar per person and gun numbers. Bloombutt should put his money towards feeding the growing number of hungry people in NYC. He might do some good.

I forget the documentary name but it had some idiot holding Azoom Snap caps calling them one hit one kill bullets. Even more deadlier than the dreaded teflon coated cop killer dumdum rounds.
