In case you haven’t heard, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is going to spend $50 million in 2014 to build a “nationwide grass-roots network” to motivate anti-gun voters. That’s right, he’s trying to create an organization to oppose the NRA. You can read more about Bloomberg’s efforts in the NY Times.
While I think Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety campaign is ridiculous and a waste of money, right now I just want to focus on this image that was posted on what appears to be the Facebook page of the movement.
Notice anything wrong with the photo?
That’s right, the bullet is exiting the barrel with the shell casing still attached. Umm…
One Facebook user, Butthurt Police, summed it up with this comment, “Lulz, what an idiot. The bullet comes out the muzzle and the casing gets ejected from the breech. If you guys don’t know jack shit about firearms, why should we allow you to dictate firearm policy?”
Facebook and Twitter users went off about the photo with similar comments all day on Sunday.
But hold the phone, is this actually the Facebook page of Bloomberg’s organization?
It has the correct website listed on the image, but it’s tough to say if it’s really their Facebook page. Initially, their group’s name on Facebook was stolen by a pro-gun group. (LOL) Then, they were reportedly using this Demand Action Facebook page instead. But now it appears the Everytownforgunsafety.org Facebook page is representing the organization — and that’s where the above photo was posted.
If the photo is not from Bloomberg’s organization, it’s a big troll job. If it is from his organization, they might need to add a few more gun experts (or at least someone who has seen how a gun works) to their team.
This just shows how completely devoid of facts they are. Let me guess, they also talk about how many clips of ammo a fully automatic assault gun can shoot, right?

Let’s see... must be a bolt action or a breach loaded weapon, loaded with too small of a cartridge, and there is no powder in the cartridge, but the firing pins is just able to hit the primer, and the resulting “pff” pushes the cartridge out the end of the barrel.
“fail” only if it doesn’t have its intended effect - making ignorant people afraid of guns.
Might not be such a “fail” after all.
