Guy Bechor reports that Egypt is in the process of destroying all remnants of its ancient, non-Muslim cultures.
It was barely mentioned in the Israeli and global media, but the following event pertains to the whole of Western civilization: Last Saturday, violent groups of Islamic-Salafi radicals burned the famous scientific institute established by Napoleon in Egypt after its first encounter with the West. Some historians consider it the start of modern times in the Middle East.
The site, L’Institut d’Egypte, held some 200,000 original and rare books, exhibits, maps, archeological findings and studies from Egypt and the entire Middle East, based on the work of generations of western researchers. Most of the artifacts were lost forever, burned or looted.

Are we to understand that there was no electronic archive prepared for each of these rare items? I suppose ‘library’ doesn’t translate well to the culture which believes all things pre-Islamic (jahilyya) is disposable.

Hopefully there was, and that the electronic archive is stored outside of Egypt.
As I expected. The only reason most of the Egyptian antiquities survived the Muslim Caliphate is that most of them were hidden beneath the sand. Now they’ve been dug up, I expect they will gut all the museums and smash all those statues of pharaohs and gods.
Ironic that there was such resentment about foreign museums getting some of that stuff, and such insistence that it should be returned to the real owners—who will now proceed to destroy all of it.

Why not? The afghanis destroyed the statues of buddahs that stood for centuries.
This will culminate in the dynamiting of the Sphinx and the Luxor statues. I called this long ago.
On the plus side, it’ll be interesting to see if there are any secret rooms underneath the pyramids and sphynx.
They are going to have a lot more trouble burning the Pyramids.
Real Egyptians died out thousands of years ago. The current Egyptians are either Arabs, Africans, Europeans, or the mix of those three.
