I am so grieved by the travesty that occurred this evening in Washington. I am saddenned and extremely concerned for the future of our country and am looking for a way to express it.
Whatever happened to the activism of the 80s?! I remember seeing news coverage of groups of people picketing with "throw the bums out" signs, sending tea bags to Washington, the term limits and divided government concepts being debated on talking-heads shows.
Are any organizations leading the charge here? I know there are Freeps in Washington, but there has to be something we here in fly-over country can do--and I am sick of calling dem staffers who could care less about my views.
I came up with several ideas---flying flag upside down, sending tea bags to Washington, some sort of ribbon or bumper sticker campaign
--somehow conservatives need to start building momentum to mitigate this disaster. Any ideas/thots

I LOVE this idea. I’m in. We would need to set it up somehow that the proceeds for the sale of these stickers did NOT go to fund our opponents however.
Oh, I forgot about Anthem. I read it in high school...time to read that one again! I can’t believe how close it is to reality.
I even sent out this e-mail to some of my buddies (the ones that e-mail every one under the sun)
I want to suggest flying one of our nation's revolutionary flags as a sign that we are ready if necessary to revolt and fight anew for the freedoms the founding fathers won. So to send a Message to Obama and the congress that seeks to walk all over our rights as Americans by quite honestly stomping all them I encourage everyone to start flying the First Naval Jack of the Continental Navy.
It has thirteen red and white strips, the Words "Don't Tread On Me" and it's most significant emblem a uncoiled Rattlesnake diagonally across it. I bought one today and have every intention of flying it until this country and particularly it's runaway leadership takes notice that we stand at the crossroads between liberty and tyranny once again and that there are those of us that are prepared to give their very last breath to return to the path our founding father set us upon.
But there is even more to it then that, I choose this Flag because it is our Navy's (and Marine Corps) symbol that we are at war with terrorism, even as the present administration seeks to ignore their duty to defend our country.
Personally I prefer the Continental Navy Rattlesnake Jack over the Gadsden Rattle snake flag, because it sends a dual Message to Mr. Obama as well as the terrorists he is kissing up to.
By an instruction dated 31 May 2002 (SECNAV Instruction 10520.6), the Secretary of the Navy directed the use of the rattlesnake jack in place of the union jack for the duration of the Global War on Terrorism.
If you are confused by what a "Union Jack" is or think that it is the British flag, A Union Jack is also the blue field with fifty white stars flown from the Bow when a ship is in port or underway.

I have heard suggestions of flying the Stars and Stripes Upside down as a form of protest, please don't.
First because it is something those people that don't respect the flag and those that gave their lives to defend it, do to protest against Our American government, whenever they are not in control or just to anger you.
Secondly since doing so is a sign of distress, rather then defiance, it shows you have all but surrendered to whatever fate awaits you, let those that want to destroy our country surrender to fate in the face of our defiance, let those that fear everything that flag represents fly it upside down as a symbol that they have all but lost and cannot fly our country's star spangled banner the way it was meant to be flown proudly and upright.
Today a line must be drawn and a sign must rise from Americans that they are unwilling to bear the oppressive yoke that this stimulus package seeks to burden on not only us but on even our unborn children and grand children for generations to come.
So join me in sending a message.
And show the congress and Obama, in the immortal words of John Paul Jones
"I have not yet begun to fight!"

Symbolism is great and makes us "feel" good, but we have to go a step further... I thought the census boycott would be a good idea, but after reading other posts I see that probably isn't the answer...lets keep brainstorming...we will get it!

Those of us with printers could print the picture of a tea bag onto a white index card and send them to DC and our state reps. A bunch of white envelopes going to DC won't be noticed, but index cards with pictures of tea bags will be. Here I did up an image. The tea bag can be the return address!
The revolution should take place in 2010 and 2012 at the voting booths across this nation.
