That’s not a tear. Magnify it and you’ll see the same jaggy edges as the edges of the paper. It’s just someone messing with the original.
Does anyone know where the ‘torn’ version came from?

wiggen to Mount Athos
does that mean that institutions around the country would not have taken liberties and used the word republic before the official event? perhaps even hospitals tired of issuing documents stating children were subjects of Great Britain?
just a thought, but the idea that theres a clear deliniation point across society, especially going back to the early 60s,a time well before the general usage of computers would seem a stretch.

Theres newspaperarchive.com and a slew of other resources online. If Kenya referred to itself as Republic of Kenya, prior to 12/12/64, it should be obvious by a perusal of contemporary newspapers.
Thanks I was looking for some type of official document, letterhead, newspaper from 1964. I'll check that link out.
In short, 0bamas kettle just heated up a lot.
He's in pretty hot water now.....doesn't need anymore help like a Kenyan B.C. ;)

If intentionally done to try to make it look older, it was stupid. It is obviously intentional.
I don't think it was stupid, though. I believe it was DUmb.
Lets keep our focus on the original high resolution photo.

On July 25th, 1787, John Jay wrote to George Washington, then Presiding Officer of the Constitutional Convention: "Permit me to hint, whether it would be wise and seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government; and to declare expressly that the Commander in Chief of the American Army shall not be given to nor devolve on, any but a natural born Citizen.
The Convention agreed and without debate the provision suggested by Jay was written into the Constitution.
That Jays advice was taken is not surprising because in his career Jay was President of the Continental Congress, Chief Justice of the New York Supreme Court, 1st Chief Justice of the United States, Ambassador to Spain and France, Secretary of Foreign Affairs (Secretary of State) and Governor of New York, among other things. He wasnt a man whose advice could be ignored. Note that what particularly concerned Jay was not a political issue but a military issue arising because the President is Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States. He was bothered by issues of National Security."

As long as that is the real problem, and you can actually follow those steps (many, many users won’t be able to) then, great.
I’m not sure I’m getting your point, though.
Are you trying to show me how to handle malware on the internet, or are you uncomfortable with something else I typed here at FR this morning?

Congressman Eni Faleomavaega traveled to Jakarta, Indonesia, July 7,2007.
And yes, he went there to collect all possible photographs, official records and documents concerning Barack Obama/Barry Soetoro and the Soetoro family.

No, this is a very bad photoshop job of the original photograph, and I can only assume it was posted to confuse the issue.
IMO It looks like a poor photoshop job designed to make the 'type' and seal pop out. More readable. Yes, people should ignore it.

Uh, the “second image” is a larger version of the original with the hideous fabric blacked out.
I did it because somebody asked for a bigger image to be able to READ THE WRITING easier.
I used screen capture to snag it, jack up the contrast for legibility’s sake and then “cut” the ugly fabric out.
It was quick and dirty.
Sorry if I didn’t have hours to devote to doing it perfectly.
Sheesh.

Yes, it would be a good thing to know where the altered jpeg came from that was made off the other one.
