Not to sign my own praises... but that was a dang fine meal. Quite a bit for leftovers. Froze half of what was left and I'll eat the rest for lunch tomorrow.

I think the key to it was the garlic to worchestershire sauce. Yum.

my best friend can drink beer, but I can't get past the smell.

That was half my problem. The other was the taste. Like coffee, it's an acquired taste. It took years, but I acquired it.

Sadly, on recent trips I started feeling really crummy after drinking beer (my committees go out for beers & dinner together after a day's meeting -- given that many of our employers are competitors it's a necessary exercise to maintain our consensus-building program). I don't know if it's something like a low-level allergy (years ago I learned I simply cannot drink Henry Weinhard products) or what, but I'm going to cut back. (I don't drink beer/ales/Guinness at all except with my committees.)

Maybe it's a part of the getting-old program. I used to love chocolate, and Guinness, but today I can pass them up with ease, along with anything sweet except pecan pie. OTOH, I now like Brussels sprouts (in moderation *\;-).

The goodwife has a recipe for tofu pumpkin pie that is out of this world, if you are ready to pass on the sugary custard passed off as pumpkin "pie" these days. OTOH, she now has a soy allergy...

I remember, as a kid, my delight when the corner grocery some blocks awat started serving licorice ice-cream cones -- "Midnight (something-or-the-other)" flavor.

There are certain beers that I CANNOT drink because they create instant headaches. Budweiser is at the top of the list. One of the ingredients in that beer is rice. Coors has a lot of malt, which may not agree with some people. If you can contact the brewery online site, and check out the ingredients, you may be able to eliminate the beers you cannot drink, and substitute the ones you can.

You might want to request a "pilsner" or pils". They are usually much lighter with a smooth taste.

She liked the white popsicles, (licorice) and I knew when I bought "assorted candies" at the movies, I could count on her to eat the black ones!

Seattle, the budding-totalitarian city that will now fine yits subject population for putting recyclable material in their garbage instead of their recycle bins, has been using "roundabouts" as traffic impediments in residential neighborhoods. Of course, theirs are designed to impede, not speed, traffic.

Subtitles -- sounds like you're a speed-reader like me. The wife cheated: she speaks Farsi.
