President Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney are once again tied nationally with just days to go in the 2012 campaign, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News tracking poll. Among likely voters, Obama and Romney are deadlocked at 48 percent. For the first time this year, the two contenders are also tied among political independents, with 46 percent apiece. Iran has suspended the enrichment of uranium stockpiles to the 20% purity needed to bring it a short step from building a nuclear device, news services in the region have reported. Mohammad Hossein Asfari, a member of parliament responsible for foreign policy and national security, was quoted as saying that the move was a "goodwill" gesture, aimed at softening Iran's position before a new round of scheduled talks with the United States after this week's presidential elections. The number of people casting ballots at early-voting places has now exceeded 2 million in North Carolina. The State Board of Elections reported late Thursday afternoon that in-person early-voting had surpassed the mark. More than 2.2 million votes have been cast when traditional absentee ballots and those living or stationed overseas are added. In 2008, more than 2.4 million people voted early in person and 2.6 million when all non-Election Day voting was counted - both records. Data released today from the Secretary of State's office shows that in Colorado's early voting period, more Republicans have cast ballots than Democrats.
