Media Pushes Fictions over Facts By Robin Boyd Posted On September 27, 2004 @ 09:58 PM EST [Post Comment] The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth were the focus for crucial weeks of the 2004 Presidential Campaign. Day after day, Democrats decried the use of “partisan money” to fund the Swifties’ ads, calling on President Bush to denounce the partisan attack against John Kerry. John Edwards called on the President to stop hiding behind what he called a “front group.” The media’s search for Bush/Cheney connections to the Swift Boat vets was also relentless, and it is a study in media...

Here is a liberal's take off on web of connections. Similar to NY Times' web of connections (Swift Vets, Rove, Bush, etc.) and our own web of connections (CBS, Rather, Lockhart, Cleland, etc.). You can only laugh at this kind of stuff. Our own web of connections (CBS, Mapes, Lockhart, etc.): http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1220678/posts

The Drudge Report is running a front page item early Friday morning claiming that Bill Burkett is now directly contradicting what Joe Lockhart has been saying the past few days about his contact with Burkett. Remember Lockhart’s story that he called Burkett at the request of CBS News and all they discussed were the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth? No mention of the documents according to Lockhart, just a harmless 3-4 minute conversation about the SwiftVets[snip]It will be very difficult to tell who is actually telling the truth in this mess, but a simple check of phone records could easily...

The Center for Individual Freedom today filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission charging CBS and Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign with illegal coordination.

Then, there is the political persuasion of producer Mrs. Mapes, who had "embarrassed" her own father because of her liberal leanings, according to Seattle radio station KIRO. She engineered Mr. Rather's memo story over Labor Day, lining up experts and the suspect documents.

< Who is Bill Burkett? Former Lt. Colonel Bill Burkett is the man who claims that Bush and the Texas National Guard cleaned out any damaging information in Bush's National Guard files in 1997. As Kevin Drum explains in an exhaustively researched post, Burkett has a major axe to grind - he blames Bush for the military denying him medical care during an illness in 1998. However, there is another reason to be skeptical about Burkett. Burkett has strongly held loony left political views. He has written numerous articles espousing his positions and clearly wishes to sway the electorate. This...

Does anyone have any further information on the identity of the Robert Strong featured on the CBS segment on the TANG memos. I Googled Robert Strong and came up with a man of that name who is a professor at Washington & Lee University, and who is that school's administrator of the Paul & Daisy Soros New Americans foundation. The foundation is a subsidiary of the Open Society Institution funded and operated by George Soros, the infamous bank-roller of the left-wing 527s. To judge by Strong's brief comments on the CBS segment, he seems to be of a left-wing frame...

NEW YORK (Talon News) -- The Wednesday evening broadcast of CBS's 60 Minutes featured an interview by news anchor Dan Rather of former Texas Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes, now a fundraiser for the Kerry campaign, on the role Barnes claims he played in getting a young George W. Bush into the Texas Air National Guard. "Just how did he land that coveted spot in the Guard in the first place," Rather asked. "Tell me the truth, the whole truth." Claiming "I'm not here to bring any harm to George Bush's political career," former Texas House Speaker and former Lt. Gov....

WASHINGTON (AP) — A television writer and fund-raiser for John Kerry is the first six-figure donor to a new group that is criticizing President Bush's National Guard service during the Vietnam War. Daniel O'Keefe, a writer/producer whose work includes such sitcoms as "The Drew Carey Show" and "Seinfeld," donated $100,000 this week to Texans for Truth, an Austin-based group that plans to run anti-Bush television ads starting Monday. The group spent about $100,000 on its first ad buy, an anti-Bush commercial that starts Monday in the presidential battleground states Arizona, Michigan, Ohio, Oregon and Pennsylvania. In addition to his Texans...

Kerry's relative reticence on media reform might be related to the fact that his top financial supporters are media companies and the law firms that represent them. Two of Kerry’s top four career patrons are the law firms Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, who represent telecom and cable interests, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, who represent Time Warner and News Corp.. Time Warner also ranks in the top four category of Kerry supporters.

Washington, DC, Sep. 8 (UPI) -- Republicans are accusing new members of the U.S. presidential campaign of John Kerry of having suspect connections to anti-Bush 527 political groups. Pollster Stanley Greenberg, former Hillary Clinton aide Howard Wolfson and ex-Clinton White House spokesman Joe Lockhart, who recently came on board the Kerry campaign, "were earning a living coordinating attack ads against the president at MoveOn.Org and other groups just last week," the GOP said. Greenberg worked for MoveOn.org, the Media Fund and America Coming Together -- liberal anti-Bush groups -- while Wolfson and Lockhart worked with a company the GOP said...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Christine Iverson202-863-8614Washington, DC—The former Clinton staffers riding to the rescue of the floundering Kerry campaign this week were earning a living coordinating attack ads against the President at MoveOn.Org and other groups just last week. Stanley Greenberg has worked for MoveOn.org, the Media Fund, and America Coming Together. Howard Wolfson and Joe Lockhart have worked for the Glover Park Group, a company that created attack ads about the Patriot Act for the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation, a 501(c) 3 group. “We’ve seen Kerry’s former campaign manager go to work for 527s. WASHINGTON — Move over, MoveOn.org. The liberal-leaning group that has raised millions of dollars to run ads attacking President Bush now has a competitor on the right with a somewhat similar name. The conservative MoveOnForAmerica.org plans to run anti-Sen. John Kerry ads in crucial states until Election Day. One ad criticizes Kerry's role as a private lawyer in representing George Reissfelder, who spent 15 years in prison after being wrongly convicted of a murder. A second ad, to be rolled out later, will focus on the political connections between Kerry and former Democratic presidential contender Al Sharpton. “MoveOnForAmerica.org was created...
