WASHINGTON Move over, MoveOn.org.
The liberal-leaning group that has raised millions of dollars to run ads attacking President Bush now has a competitor on the right with a somewhat similar name.
The conservative MoveOnForAmerica.org plans to run anti-Sen. John Kerry ads in crucial states until Election Day.
One ad criticizes Kerry's role as a private lawyer in representing George Reissfelder, who spent 15 years in prison after being wrongly convicted of a murder. A second ad, to be rolled out later, will focus on the political connections between Kerry and former Democratic presidential contender Al Sharpton.
MoveOnForAmerica.org was created due to the Bush campaign's largely inept attack ads against Mr. Kerry, according to information on the Web site.
Created by Republican political consultant Stephen Marks, the group is the latest independent soft-money organizations that have sprung up on both sides of the aisle to influence voters.
Marks also worked for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the Republican Governors Association, and served as a press secretary to President Bush's brother, Jeb Bush, now Florida's governor, in his unsuccessful 1994 campaign.
Marks said his group had raised $200,000 and aimed to surpass $1 million by the election.
We'll hopefully be successful like the Swift boat people, Marks said, referring to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group whose ads have questioned Kerry's service in Vietnam.
Under the new campaign finance law, a ban on political ads by outside groups that mention presidential, House and Senate candidates went into effect Friday 60 days before the Nov. 2 election.
But groups are exempt from the ban if they use only donations from individuals and do not receive corporate or union support. However, critics contend that all outside groups should be covered by the law and blamed the Federal Election Commission for an incorrect interpretation.

They also have a Sharpton ad, which is probably a bad idea.
Yeah. I checked out the site. They even have commercials you can click on to listen to before they release them. And I'm sure we can count on Limbaugh and Hannity to give us a little more national air coverage. Much like the 'Big Media' does for its base.
And that will make the experience much more painful for the Dems. The kind of pain one achieves without lubrication. :) Hehe!
Not so fast, FMC. Check out this thread from Friday. Note the direct/indirect connections to the Republicans and the slant of their ads. This is nothing but trouble for the Bush campaign and I'd stick with supporting the Swifties.

There are two other threads on this.
Sounds good at first, but as we were exploring, it sounded more damaging, than helpful

This sounds nit-picky when there is so much more to air, such as sound bytes from Zell Miller's speech. Many Americans haven't heard it.
Great Cartoon! Thanks for posting it!
Glad you enjoyed the 'toon. I am not one for humor, I mean I like it but what I sometimes think is the punch line is far off from what others think. I had posted one that ticked some of the Freepers off cuz it was not what I thought it meant. Kind of confusing eh? But, I did think it was fitting, Kerry and the yellow ribbons. Although I think of yellow ribbons and our troops and well it might distain this a bit using Kerry with the symbol.
I posted an article with a lot of background about these guys on The Blogspirator.
MoveOver Swifties: New 527 Exposes Kerry's "Willie Horton" Moment/Estrich has Carville "This Is Wah!" Moment

This is actually a good find - it means as lawyer he was also no good.
More ads about personal security like Tax Reform, Medical Savings Plan etc. These are interesting powerful messages. We need Bush/Cheney to ask voters to elect enough Republican Senators and Congressmen/women to help pass his legislation. I am getting tired of hearing about jobs. Just how is this American gigolo going to find anyone a job. Its ridiculous.
If you would, expand on your point of view, I would be most interested. Thank you.
Thank you for the link I will pass it along.
At first I felt these guys were just plain stupid in not knowing that their ads would backfire on the President by giving the Democrats something to point to as proof that 1) anti-Kerry 527's have direct connections to the Republican party and 2) that the ads feature Blacks in a less than positive light so as to stir up anti-Republican/Bush emotions amongst that constituency. Now, however, I wonder if this is actually an effort to discredit Bush/Republicans by the Democrats or by the Buchanan folks. In any event, this group isn't worth supporting IMO.
Agreed.....these ads are so ridiculously absurd, I thought they were either parodies or done incognito by the dems.
