The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved $100,000 in funding for Planned Parenthood of Michigan Title X Services to the community on Nov. 20. These services include breast cancer screenings, contraception education, sexually transmitted infection and HIV testing and other wellness exams. Title X funds do not pay for abortion services. According to the press release, Planned Parenthood of Michigan serves roughly 10,000 patients in Washtenaw County alone, and was recently stripped of its funding when the Trump administration updated Title X regulations in March. HOUSTON (AP) — POLICE have arrested a renowned opera singer and University of Michigan professor on allegations that he and his husband in 2010 sexually assaulted a singer in Houston. Countertenor David Daniels and his spouse William A. Scott Walters were arrested Tuesday in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Texas warrants charging each of them with sexual assault of an adult. A Houston police spokesman declined to comment on the charges Wednesday.

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies released a sketch of the man believed to have assaulted a woman who he called a gay slur in Ypsilanti Township. The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office detective bureau is now investigating the assault of a woman who was targeted by her assailants because she is a lesbian. Former state Rep. Pam Byrnes, a Democrat from Washtenaw County's Lyndon Township, announced Thursday she's running for Congress to help fix a "broken system" in Washington. Byrnes is seeking the 7th District seat held by Tim Walberg, a Republican from Tipton who unseated Democrat Mark Schauer in 2010 to regain the seat.
