National and local political activist, decorated veteran, POW advocate, businessman and master potter Ted Sampley passed away Tuesday. He was 62. Sampley, who was recovering from heart surgery a week earlier, was experiencing difficulties from the surgery at the Veteran's Hospital in Durham on Tuesday. He died while being rushed to surgery. His sudden passing surprised many in Kinston. "This is a shock to me," said master shipbuilder Alton Stapleford, the architect of the CSS Neuse II, which Sampley helped bring to fruition. "It's really hard to comprehend right now." Sampley served several tours of duty in Vietnam in the...

Hello everyone! I'm a newbie here and since finding Free Rebublic I have been inspired! I was very fortunate to hook up with a great group of folks and participate in a rally! The rally was hosted by Bob Chamberlain, whose wife "had to literally peal me off the ceiling when John Kerry started spewing his lies about Viet Nam". Bob has sponsored several rallies and I wish that I had found him and Free Republic sooner! We met in Raleigh, NC across from the UNC campus. Bob listens to one mans point of view, then proceeds to give...

Kerry's new Vietnam fix Refugees of communist takeover won't forget, forgive his past By Jan Golab "If you want to be president, you have to talk to everybody in America, and that is what we are going to do," Sen. John Kerry declared last July, when he spoke before the NAACP. It was a dig against President George W. Bush, who had declined an invitation to speak to that organization. But there's no way Kerry will ever speak to America's 1.2 million Vietnamese-Americans, most of whom live in California. Many of California's Vietnamese-Americans will be in Washington, D.C., today to...

After the stunning success of anti-John Kerry ads produced by the group Swiftboat Veterans for Truth, a separate group of Vietnam veterans is planning to open up a new front - in a move that could leave the Democratic nominee sorry he ever mentioned Vietnam as a campaign issue. Special Forces veteran Ted Sampley, co-founder with Mike Benge and Jerry Kiley of Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry, tells Ad Week magazine that his group has launched a local spot buy targeting military family-rich areas in North Carolina. The ads started last week on Fox affiliates in the area, covering key...

Jane Fonda poses for the press after a trip to Hanoi. She is sporting a necklace given to her by the North Vietnamese. The necklace was made from the melted parts of a U.S. B-52 shot down by Hanoi. While in North Vietnam, Fonda made radio broadcasts and propaganda films designed to break the moral of U.S. troops fighting in Vietnam.

<p>"Kerry Lied . . . While Good Men Died"</p>
<p>What: A peaceful remembrance of those with whom we served in Vietnam - those who lived and those who died.</p>
<p>We will tell the story of their virtues and how that contrasts with the lies told by John Kerry.</p>

John Kerry: The Chameleon Senator By Ted Sampley U.S. Veteran Dispatch October-December 1996 Issue *SNIP* In 1991, the United States Senate created the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs to examine the possibility that U.S. POW/MIAs might still be held by the Vietnamese. As chairman of the Select Committee, Kerry proved himself to be a masterful chameleon portraying to the public at large what appeared to be an unbiased approach to resolving the POW/MIA issue. But, in reality, no one in the United States Senate pushed harder to bury the POW/MIA issue, the last obstacle preventing normalization of relations with...

REPORT FROM THE FRONT FINAL THOUGHTS – the Vietnam Veterans against Kerry demonstration at the DNC. It’s now been a week since the Vietnam Vets serenaded John Kerry at the Fleet Center and in front of his house. The thing that amazes me the most is the degree to which the mainstream media has totally ignored our legitimate expressions of anger at the con job the Democrat National Committee was trying to foist on America so they could grab more power over us. My wife, the fabulous Cindy, reminded me of PT Barnum’s favorite saying “You can fool some of...

<p>Washington, DC, Jul. 28 (UPI) -- Vietnam War veterans and other former U.S. military service personnel angry over John Kerry's anti-war activism following the senator's service in Southeast Asia were mobilizing Wednesday to sink the Democratic contender's bid for the White House.</p>

Most Vietnam Vets do not support John Kerry's candidacy, but you would not know it from the news coverage. Vietnam veterans who object to Kerry, such as the Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry (VVAJK), and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, have been muzzled by the mainstream media. The minimal coverage they have received writes them off as right-wing activists, but that is simply not the case -- as the VVAJK has made clear that a significant portion of veterans opposed to Kerry are Democrats who would have voted Democrat if Kerry wasn't the nominee. Even a major upcoming bestseller --...

NOW IS THE TIME FOR VETS TO TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT VIETNAM! Comrades, John Kerry reopened the door of the Vietnam War by making his few months service there the centerpiece of the DEMOCRAT NATIONAL CONVENTION and his campaign, ignoring his accomplishment-free nineteen years in the Senate and his years as Lieutenant Governor under hyper liberal Michael Dukakis. His plan to fool America is working so far as illustrated by my experience two days ago: http://pep.typepad.com/public_enquiry_project/2004/07/now_is_the_time.html

Police dressed in riot gear patrol the area Thursday, July 29, 2004 outside of the FleetCenter in Boston at the Democratic National Convention. The sign in the background reads 'Say-- DNC Thanks for nothing- go Bush.'

On the campaign trail, Sen. John Forbes Kerry regularly mentions his Vietnam War combat experience, during which he received three Purple Hearts, the Silver Star and Bronze Star. However, the Massachusetts Democrat doesn't like to talk much about how he received the awards or the time after he returned home when he was rubbing shoulders with Hanoi Jane Fonda as a much-celebrated organizer for Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), one of America's most radical pro-communist groups. Sen. Kerry, the "noble statesman" and "highly decorated Vietnam vet" of today, is a Far cry from Kerry, the radical, hippie-like leader of...

REPORT FROM THE FRONT DAY TWO – the Vietnam Veterans against Kerry demonstration at the DNC. REPORT FROM THE FRONT DAY TWO – the Vietnam Veterans against Kerry demonstration at the DNC. Double WOW! Around 500 folks gathered at Bowdoin Square. These guys were really ready to change history. While most of them were fifty something white guys like me, there were a few men of color and a significant showing from the Vietnamese American community including beautiful women and children and, of course, my enthusiastic wife Cindy and daughter Barbara Jeannette. Just before kickoff, the organizers from VietnamVeteransAgainstJohnKerry.com kindly...

REPORT FROM THE FRONT – the Vietnam Veterans against Kerry demonstration at the DNC. Wow! This was my first experience of Political Theater since the Vietnam War. There I was in the van holding one side of a huge “Hanoi Jane/Hanoi John” banner shouting HO HO, HO CHI KERRY followed by a couple hundred of my brother Vietnam Vets and their supporters, including my own wife and nine year old daughter Barbara Jeannette. My wife later excitedly described the excitement she felt chanting along with the guys while carrying a VETERANS AGAINST KERY sign and the pride she felt as...

A military-history organization is sponsoring a conference in Boston during the Democratic National Convention it hopes will dispel some of the "myths" anti-war activists, including candidate John Kerry, have spread about the Vietnam War. "Examining the Myths of the Vietnam War" will be held at Simmons College in Boston from Monday to Thursday, corresponding with the Democrats' convention there. Sponsored by the RADIX Foundation, it is being billed as "a veteran-funded, nonprofit, multicultural and non-political event." "By conducting this conference," says the promotional material, "we would … like to afford the 15,000 media personnel at the nominating convention an opportunity...

<p>Max Attacks Sunny John Edwards, as we've noted before, is singularly ill-suited to the traditional vice-presidential role of political hatchet man. So the Kedwards ticket has outsourced that job to a surrogate, someone John Kerry apparently never seriously considered as his running mate: Max Cleland, the patriotic former senator from Georgia.</p>
