By Michelle Malkin • August 26, 2008 04:41 PM I noted this morning that the Obama campaign’s Chicago-style thug effort to shut down the independent ad on Bill Ayers is part of the larger effort to intimidate conservative donors and curtail the free speech of The One’s critics. It’s getting uglier, people. Obama’s lawyer has sent a second letter to the Justice Department calling for the head of Dallas billionare Harold Simmons, who funded the Ayers ad that the Obama campaign doesn’t want the public to see.Feel the chill: Obama general counsel Bob Bauer today sent a second, sharper letter to the Justice...

The campaign of Democratic presidential nominee in waiting Barack Obama is threatening TV stations that dare to run a controversial ad that questions Obama's friendship with unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers.Politico quotes an Obama aide as saying this afternoon, "The Obama campaign plans to punish the stations that air the ad financially, organizing his supporters to target the stations that air it and their advertisers."Politico has posted copies of letters the Obama campaign has sent to station managers and a letter the campaign has sent to the Department of Justice demanding a criminal investigation of the group that is...

THE OBAMA-BIDEN TICKET IS THE FIRST TICKET OF EITHER MAJOR PARTY IN SIXTY-EIGHT YEARS IN WHICH NEITHER THE CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT EVER SERVED IN THE MILITARY! At a time of war, the Democrats give us something the nation hasn't seen in more than two generations: a ticket where neither of the the running mates ever wore a uniform of any kind. Shouldn't Republicans make a big deal of this? Consider the history-- 2004 -- GOP -- Bush served in National Guard/ DEMS- Kerry served in the Navy 2000---GOP -- Bush served in National Guard/ Al Gore served in the Army...

It is very troubling that a man is seeking the office of Commander-in-Chief of the United States at a time when he will confront lethal threats against the nation from the most brutal tyrants around the globe, yet he is openly afraid to face the unfriendly news reporters at FOX News Network… He thinks he can handle Al Qaeda, Hamas, Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Kim Jon Il and Russian aggression, but admittedly can’t handle Bill O’Reilly? Even Hillary Clinton was brave enough to sit and field open questions from FOX News, which she did very well by the way. I’m a conservative,...

Senator Barack Obama has launched a full broadside against a best-selling book that attacks him as a Muslim-educated radical Leftist filled with "black rage". In a 41-page document entitled "Unfit for Publication", the Obama campaign rebuts Jerome Corsi's Obama Nation (a play on "abomination") almost point by point. Its faux book cover carries quotations from Time magazine branding the book, which has shot to the top of the New York Times best-seller list, as "trash" and "poisonous crap". The title of the Obama rebuttal is an allusion to Unfit for Command, the book co-written by Corsi that damaged the 2004...

In stark contrast with the Kerry campaign in 2004, the Obama campaign is mapping out an aggressive counter-attack against the new Swift-Boat-Vet style book targeting Obama -- including plans to dig more deeply into the author's past statements, plans for increased surrogate action against the book, and stepped up pressure on high-level media executives to let the Obama team have air time to rebut the charges. The plan is taking shape amid new signs that the book -- by Jerome Corsi, who wrote the tome that formed the basis for the attacks on Kerry -- will have staying power and...

In our political world, detractors of candidates that are often seen as weak on foreign policy (carrot carriers) are often mistakenly tagged as appeasers. Such is the case with Barack Obama in this election cycle. Appeasement is a term that is thrown around too often. By definition, appeasement is simply a belief that by meeting your enemies’ demands for power or territory; they will quench their insatiable appetite for power and become more cooperative. Obama doesn't want to give away the farm; he just doesn't understand the dangers in foreign policy idealism. As an example...

Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear. Jerome Corsi, author of the bestselling Unfit for Command in 2004, a book that turned the phrase “swift boat” into a verb and helped defeat John “Reporting for Duty” Kerry, has written a new book about Barack Hussein Obama (yes, I know I am not supposed to mention his middle name, but I am going to anyway) called The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality. It’s officially published only today (you can order it from Amazon here), but already it is # 1 on The New York Times bestseller list with...

If the Middle East -- and the rest of the world -- survives the aggressive rise of Iranian nukes and missiles, it will be thanks to Ballistic Missile Defense -- a completely new technology that is just being put into place. The next ten years will tell the story. It's already evident that Mr. Obama doesn't understand a lot about oil, coal and natural gas, the three key fuels of the world economy. Senator O doesn't know much about General Petraeus' surge in Iraq -- a fundamental change in warfighting tactics, not just a surge in troop strength, as the...

The editors of the Post have nailed Obama on failing to do the townhall debates, called him "Foolish," "Irrational," and "Wrong" on Iraq, and today they nail him on his plans for a windfall profits tax and using the Strategic Oil Reserve for rebate checks. They even use economics, of all things, to show why The Messiah is wrong. And here I thought that Economics 101 was an elective in college that liberals skipped in favor of the more popular "How to Light a Beer Bong in a Stiff Wind at a Spit-on-the-Soldiers Rally - 101."

Just as they sought to destroy John Kerry in 2004, the founders of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth group are aiming their guns at this season's presumptive Democratic presidential candidate. But unlike four years ago, when the Swifties spent millions to discredit Kerry, their hit on Barack Obama so far hasn't cost them a dime. The opening assault came over the weekend in the form of a mass email to would-be sympathizers. "As liberal as Kerry was, America faces an even more liberal threat today: Barack Obama," wrote John O'Neill, a founder of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth...

Sen. Barack Obama is the gift that just keeps on giving when it comes to those who want to expose him for the phony, socialist and race hustler, that he is at his very core. He now plays like a centrist, but he is in fact a radical, left-wing extremist who campaigns in the center but would govern to the loony left. He pretends to be a reformer, but is a Chicago machine politician who has always gone along with whatever it takes to win, including working with everyone from crooks to the terrorists. There isn't a drop of reform...

What I want to know is, how did Hans Christian Andersen know about Barack Obama more than a century ago? Because Obama is straight out of Andersen's classic fairly tale, The Emperor's New Clothes. Old Hans Christian, who lived in Denmark from 1805 to 1875, had Obama's number down pat. All he needed was a good grasp of human nature. Nothing has changed. Pretentious frauds still parade down the boulevards of Copenhagen and Washington, D.C., and only little kids notice their nakedness. Nobody dares to snicker, for fear of being called a bad name. (You know the bad name everybody...

As Barack Obama was on his way to Houston yesterday for two fundraisers, Republicans elevated their criticism of the Illinois Senator for declining to attend a planned presidential forum near Fort Hood. McCain had previously agreed to attend a veterans-sponsored town hall meeting in Belton, scheduled for Aug. 11. CBS was arranging to televise it. Obama's campaign cited a scheduling conflict but has noted his previous events before veterans. The event was finally canceled earlier this week.

Bill Clinton regrets some things he said - and didn't say - on the campaign trail. But there's one thing he still can't utter: Barack Obama is ready to be President. "You can argue that nobody is ready to be President," the former President told ABC News. "You can argue that even if you've been vice president for eight years, that no one can be fully ready for the pressures of the office," Clinton said Monday during a visit to Rwanda. That's probably not what Team Obama wanted to hear from the former commander in chief, whose role in Obama's...

Barrack Obama benefited mightily in the Democratic presidential primary from his consistent stance against the war in Iraq, while Hillary Clinton spent a lot of time parsing about why she voted for the then quite unpopular and seemingly ill-fated campaign. But a funny thing happened on the way to the real election: things in Iraq started to get better. Now, with violence in Iraq at its lowest level in years, Obama is the one doing the parsing. To be fair, Obama’s primary message on the war was going to change for the general election no matter what. His mantra that...

Barack Obama is one crafty fellow, reaping political success out of career that got precious little done. He has accomplished very little legislatively in his entire career; his vaunted accomplishments in the Illinois Senate were more the result of the handicraft of his political ally and mentor State Democratic head Emil Jones (who tacked Obama's name on legislation to bolster his career) than his own work on the issues . Obama has done virtually nothing at the Senate level -- he has not even seen fit to call a meeting of the Committee he heads, the Senate Subcommittee on European Affairs....

I'm starting to smell a little roasting chicken. What's the Obamessiah afraid of? WASHINGTON — Democratic candidate Barack Obama on Saturday backed away from rival John McCain’s challenge for a series of joint appearances before the political conventions, agreeing only to the standard three debates in the fall. In May, when a McCain adviser proposed a series of pre-convention appearances at town hall meetings, Obama said, “I think that’s a great idea.” In summer stumping on the campaign trail, McCain has often noted that Obama had not followed through and joined him in any events. On Saturday, in a letter...

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty today called Sen. Barack Obama too risky to be president. “The people of the United States and Iowa are wise. They understand what’s at stake in this election,” he said. “Voting for Obama is the political equivalent of bungee jumping.” Speaking at the grand opening of the Tom Latham for Congress and Victory 2008 headquarters in Ames, Pawlenty said Sen. John McCain has a long record of wisdom and judgment, something Obama can’t match. “We do not want the next president to have a fundamental misunderstanding of the world we live in,” he said.
