Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, has launched a historic bid to win the deeply Republican state of Texas in a bid to destroy Donald Trump's chances of becoming president. Mrs Clinton committed $1.5 million to begin running television advertisements in the Lone Star state, which is usually ignored by Democratic presidential nominees who have not won it for 40 years. Texas has 38 votes in the presidential electoral college, the second biggest number of any state after California. A candidate needs 270 to win. Targeting Texas amounted to a political "decapitation strategy" by taking the biggest Republican state....

A state investigation is underway over allegations of voter fraud in Tarrant County ... Concerns have arisen over mail-in ballots, which many believe open the door to “vote harvesting,” or the process of illegally filling out and returning the ballots of valid voters without their consent. Mail-in ballots are designed for eligible voters who are unable to leave their homes, are in jail or out of the country, and many argue that such balloting is critical for those who would be unable to vote otherwise. But the mail-in balloting process allows those voters to cast their votes from home without...

San Antonio Police Department officers disobeyed city law on Tuesday when they donned Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" ball caps during a motorcade escort of the GOP candidate. More than a dozen local cops were sporting the red hats during their motorcycle escort of the Republican nominee to and from San Antonio International Airport, according to a video Trump posted on Twitter.

Kay Granger, Texas’ lone Republican female member of congress, is asking Donald Trump to “remove himself from consideration” for the presidency. [snip] “We have heard rumors about the insensitive and vulgar things Mr. Trump says about women,” Granger’s statement reads. “But watching that video is disgusting. Mr. Trump should remove himself from consideration as Commander in Chief.”

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is standing by his support of Donald Trump following the release of a 2005 clip showing the Republican presidential nominee speaking lewdly about women. Cruz, who endorsed Trump in September after a months-long holdout, was asked Monday by an interviewer in Muleshoe if he was "still backing the Republican candidate for president, Donald J. Trump." "I am supporting the Republican nominee because I think Hillary Clinton is an absolute disaster," Cruz replied.

While campaigning in Texas this week, Cruz was caught by a reporter from the Dallas Morning News phone-banking for Trump. In the video taken by G.J. McCarthy, Cruz is sitting with his head slightly slouched in front of various Trump campaign signs. Cruz was unable to reach many live representatives, but made sure to leave voicemails encouraging voters to make it to the polls on Election Day.

A massive investigation is underway in Tarrant County as law enforcement officers from the Texas Attorney General’s Office investigate a vote-harvesting scheme alleged to involve as many as 20,000 ballots. Last month, Texas Scorecard reported that Tarrant County Elections administrator Frank Phillips disclosed the AG’s office had launched a criminal investigation into voting abnormalities inside Tarrant County. The investigation was the result of a complaint filed by Aaron Harris, of Direct Action Texas, an organization that also uncovered significant errors in Hill County’s primary election results. Today, Harris confirmed that AG investigators have been spotted on the ground in Tarrant...

Donald Trump may be on the cusp of bagging an endorsement from one of the most prominent NeverTrump holdouts, former primary rival Ted Cruz. Sources close to the Trump campaign have confirmed Cruz is close to endorsing his former — and sometimes bitter — GOP rival. Talks between Cruz staff and the Trump camp have been regular in recent weeks, and have grown more serious as Trump has closed the gap with Hillary Clinton in key battleground states.

The Dallas Morning News is paying a steep price for endorsing Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, in the form of canceled subscriptions and loud protests. The endorsement broke a 75-year streak in the paper’s history of endorsing Republicans, and generated a lot of reader pushback in the form of angry comments and vows to unsubscribe from the paper. Although Dallas is relatively liberal, the state hasn’t gone Democrat in a presidential election in 40 years.

The Dallas Morning News has experienced a noticeable decline in subscriptions following its endorsement of Hillary Clinton. "[S]ome people have cancelled their subscriptions, so we lost some customers at a time when it's tough to lose customers," editor Mike Wilson told the Washington Examiner Tuesday evening.

Update 2:45 p.m: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s plane landed in Austin a little after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, kicking off a campaign swing through the capital of Texas.
