Mitch McConnell said Thursday that he wants 'something even stronger' in the Senate than the House's resolution formally opposing Donald Trump's troop withdrawal from northern Syria last week. The Senate Majority Leader said he was 'encouraged' by the House, including 129 Republican members, voting to condemn the president's highly contested decision. 'I believe it's important that we make a strong forward-looking strategic statement. For that reason my preference would be for something even stronger than the resolution that the House passed yesterday which has some serious weaknesses,' McConnell said from the Senate floor Thursday. The vote Wednesday – where more...

MOSCOW, Oct 17 (Reuters) - The Kremlin on Thursday questioned the tone of a letter sent by U.S. President Donald Trump to his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan, saying it was highly unusual for correspondence between heads of state. The White House on Wednesday released the Oct. 9 letter, in which Trump urged Erdogan to halt Turkey's cross-border offensive into northeast Syria, saying "Don't be a tough guy" and "Don't be a fool!"

Vice President Mike Pence said that a cease-fire has been reached between Turkey and Kurdish forces in Syria. The move comes after Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. “Today I'm proud to report, thanks to the strong leadership of President Donald Trump and the strong relationship between President Erdoğan and Turkey and the United States of America, that today the United States and Turkey have agreed to a cease-fire in Syria,” Pence said.

Since President Donald Trump took office, his administration has secured the release of 17 prisoners foreign governments had detained. “We’ve had 17 released, and we’re very proud of that record. Very proud. And we have others coming,” Trump said Saturday evening as he welcomed home Joshua Holt, an American citizen who had been detained in Venezuela for two years without trial. Unlike his predecessor, the president has managed to bring these prisoners home without freeing terrorists or paying millions of dollars in suspected ransom payments. 1. Trump pulling troops from Syria has been controversial at best, and many people on both the Left and the Right have been concerned, angry, outraged, you name it. There are some talking heads saying this move will be far more damaging to Trump’s presidency than even the fake impeachment nonsense Democrats have been pushing for three years. Breitbart’s John Hayward put together a pretty eye-opening thread on Trump’s decision in Syria and it’s definitely worth a read.

Remember those Republicans who supported Nancy Pelosi and betrayed the American voters with this vote. – I have very often been thoroughly disgusted with the behavior of spineless, disloyal Republicans in the U.S. Congress, but seldom as disgusted as I felt on Wednesday afternoon. That was when we got news that 129 Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives joined with Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat caucus in a vote to condemn President Trump’s decision to pull U.S. military personnel out of harm’s way as the Turkish military invaded Northern Syria on Sunday. That decision involved about 50 U.S....

The U.S. President Donald Trump did not oppose a deal struck between the Syrian Kurdish-led forces, Russia and the Syrian government in Damascus to protect against a Turkish offensive in northeastern Syria, the commander of the force said as his fighters battled a new push by Ankara-backed fighters to seize a strategic border town. The commander of the Kurdish-led forces, Mazloum Abdi, said Trump essentially gave the go-ahead for the deal in a phone call Monday. The Kurds’ deal, announced Sunday, came after Trump ordered U.S. troops to step aside as Turkey launched its attack last week. Under the agreement,...

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan put US President Donald Trump's letter "in the bin", the BBC has been told. In the letter dated 9 October, and sent after US troops were pulled out of Syria, Mr Trump told Mr Erdogan: "Don't be a tough guy. Don't be a fool!" President Trump was urging Turkey not to launch a military offensive against Kurdish-led forces in northern Syria, but Mr Erdogan ignored this request. US Vice President Mike Pence is now in Ankara to push for a ceasefire. The US has faced intense criticism for the withdrawal of troops, which critics say...

Gabbard — who has come under criticism during the campaign for her controversial meeting with Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad, particularly by Kamala Harris — said that “the slaughter of the Kurds being done by Turkey is yet another negative consequence of the regime change war we’ve been waging in Syria.” She continued that it’s not just Trump who has “the blood of the Kurds on his hand,” but also many other politicians and figures in the “mainstream media” who have “been championing and cheerleading this regime change war.” Gabbard then blasted both news organizations sponsoring the debate: “The New York...

A tremendous deception has been perpetrated on the American public. The fake news, Democratic Party, and neoconservatives within the GOP have gone into hysterics over President Donald Trump’s recent decision to remove troops from Northern Syria, in what they are calling a betrayal of Kurdish allies. Big League Politics has reported on the Kurds setting ISIS terrorists free at several key junctures throughout 2017 when the war against the caliphate was not yet decided. We also reported that the Kurds have been releasing ISIS terrorists in recent days as a ploy to lure U.S. troops back into the region. The...

The Vatican announced Giani’s replacement today, Gianluca Gauzzi Broccoletti, who has served in the Vatican police corps since 1995 and was appointed Giani’s deputy last year. Former Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday lectured Iowa voters about the dangers of making the wrong decisions when it comes to international relations, saying there's no "do-overs when it comes to national security." "All the consequences I’ve mentioned, every single one can be laid at the feet of Donald Trump. You know, he green-lighted Turkish invasion. Now he’s left asking Turkey to stop it. But the damage is done," Biden explained to the crowd. "You...

President Trump on Wednesday blasted Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) following a heated meeting at the White House, questioning her mental fitness and commitment to the country. "Nancy Pelosi needs help fast! There is either something wrong with her 'upstairs,' or she just plain doesn’t like our great Country," Trump tweeted. "She had a total meltdown in the White House today," he continued. "It was very sad to watch. Pray for her, she is a very sick person!" As the Voice of America itself reported on January 23, Erdogan's plan was to resettle three million or more refugees from other parts of Syria in this "security zone" extending twenty miles deep into Syria. Twenty miles may not sound much, but – the VOA omitted to mention – almost all the Kurdish towns of northeastern Syria lie within that area. So Erdogan's intention to annihilate the Kurdish presence in that area and replace it with others has been manifest ever since the beginning of 2019. A whole series of Trump's Republican supporters in the Senate expressed outrage over his...
