PRAGUE - The North Korean embassy in Prague is calling for a ban on Team America: World Police in the Czech Republic. ...."Such behavior is not part of our country's political culture," the North Korean diplomat added. "Therefore, we want the film to be banned." However, the Czech Foreign Ministry said people would continue to be allowed to see the film, which had its Czech premiere on Feb. 3. Something is going on in North Korea, but nobody knows exactly what. Portraits of Kim Jong-il have been taken down from some (but not all) public places. The official Nork news agency denies that any have been taken down, though this is contradicted by several reports. His favorite mistress just died, and he is said to be in mourning. Offical television and radio braodcasts from North Korea appear to be toning down the honorifics they use when uttering his sacred name. Some speculate that Kim is deliberately downplaying the cult of his own personality, in an effort to begin reforming....

Bush to squeak past John Kerry by a 1.5 percent margin in the popular vote, while taking the Electoral College with a tally short of 300. After seeing last night's South Park and Team America: World Police, I got a really good sense that Trey Parker and Matt Stone offer the best political satire, not the Daily Show. Although the Daily Show can be amusing at times, it is definately politically involved and liberal. Parker and Stone's ability to take steps back and look at the political landscape satirically is unrivaled today. If you can get past the bad languange and flatulence jokes, there is certainly something to be gained from watching their show.

Sorry for the vanity. Saw this movie this past week: two words. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. The movie begins with the team attacking terrorists in Paris. In the process, the team destroys the Eiffel Tower and priceless art. It was unclear whether the political commentary was (1) America has been reckless in the war on terror or (2) screw the French. I was hoping for the latter. However, this proved to be wrong based on other scenes in the movie. Particularly, when the team - while pursuing more terrorists - mistakenly blows up the Sphinx. Just wanted to add my .02 about this movie. It was one of the funniest movies that I have ever seen. Kim Jong Il was priceless, especially when he became mad. The songs were great. One song had lyrics like "America, f*@* yeah!" I simply cannot say anything taht will do this movie jsutice. I will have to see it again. The message was great, as these guys can deliver a great message. Be prepared for swearing, but not as bad as South Park, The movie.

ANAHEIM -- Who knew that movie press junkets were such a threat to one's mental health?
