I'm on a lot of different websites, mostly private ones, that feature books, magazines, tv shows, movies, you name it. If it's in a digital format it's there. Usually I just browse and ignore but this latest issue of the New York Book Review had a cover that really tweaked my curiosity. I expected a good amount of TDS inside but I hoped for at least a small bit of balance. As a New Yorker would say, fuhgedaboutit. The closest it came to an opposing viewpoint was one author blaming Democratic complacency in 2016 for our current state of affairs....

By the end of Fiscal Year 2019, the DOJ report states, more than 51,000 foreign nationals were in federal prison — nearly 27,500 of which were in BOP custody and 23,580 in USMS custody. Broken down, more than 53 percent of foreign nationals in federal prison...

President Donald Trump “came after our family,” the angry wife of decorated Iraq war veteran Alexander Vindman said Friday in a dramatic new political ad. “The first time I felt threatened was just after Alex’s testimony” against Trump at the House impeachment hearings late last year, Rachel Vindman revealed in the ad created by The Lincoln Project and VoteVets. That was the case even though her husband put his life on the line in combat and suffered a serious injury in a bomb explosion.

Should President Trump be worried? The answer is no. Biden's campaign event was on ABC "News". Trump's hour-long town hall was aired on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC. President Donald Trump mocked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her Green New Deal proposal on Friday. “She’s got a great line of bulls**t, that’s about it,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Macon, Georgia. “She knows nothing about the environment.” He noted that the Green New Deal proposed trillions of dollars of spending to reduce greenhouse gases on the planet in an effort to stop global warming “This is the craziest thing, done by AOC plus three,” he said, mocking the group of freshman Democrat members of congress that rallied to Ocasio-Cortez with far-left ideas. “These are not great academics,”...

Donald Trump's victory in the 2016 U.S. presidential election defied long odds and the widespread assumption that Hillary Clinton had the contest in the bag. That experience led many to suspect that — no matter how big Joe Biden's lead is this time — it's inevitable that Trump will prove the polls wrong again. That's a possibility, of course. But a lot has changed since 2016. The CBC's Presidential Poll Tracker gave Clinton a 3.4-point lead in national polls over Trump on election day. She was projected to win North Carolina and Florida by narrow margins, with Michigan, Pennsylvania and...

President Donald Trump slammed Sen. Ben Sasse as being one of the 'least effective' Republican Senators after the Nebraska politician asserted that the president 'kisses dictators' butts' in a recently released audio recording. In scathing tweets posted on Saturday morning, Trump claimed that the Nebraska senator had gone back to his 'stupid and obnoxious ways,' even after he had done so much to help the state. 'The least effective of our 53 Republican Senators, and a person who truly doesn’t have what it takes to be great, is Little Ben Sasse of Nebraska, a State which I have gladly done...

In May 2019, an FBI bulletin mentioning QAnon warned that conspiracy theory-driven extremists have become a domestic terrorism threat and were “very likely” to commit violent crimes inspired by their fringe beliefs. QAnon already has been linked to acts of real-world violence, including the killing of the reputed boss of the Gambino crime family.

A new report from CNN says former White House chief of staff John Kelly has unloaded on his former boss in very stark terms in private. Since leaving the Trump administration, Kelly has made a few public comments criticizing President Donald Trump and his conduct in office, though he’s been more muted than others who have spoken out about their time working for Trump. Jake Tapper reported Friday on a quote from Kelly about the president that he has apparently told people close to him: “The depths of his dishonesty is just astounding to me. The dishonesty, the transactional nature...

George w. bush doesn’t like Donald Trump. He doesn’t like how Trump is behaving as president. He clearly doesn’t like the division in the country Trump has fostered. He knows American democracy is under threat. He has tried to be reassuring, telling people that America has survived rough times before—a way of using insistent optimism to diplomatically acknowledge the rough time the nation is going through now.

President Trump continues to close the election gap with Democrat Joe Biden, gaining with independents and voters under 50. In the latest Zogby Poll, Biden leads Trump 45.5%-43.4% among likely voters. Pollster Jonathan Zogby said his survey is different from some others because it also included third party candidates who typically win 5% or more of the vote and in this case Libertarian Jo Jorgensen has 5% and Green candidate Howie Hawkins 2%. “The race is close and is a far better representation when you include third parties,” said Zogby, who heads Zogby Analytics.

After 36 years, I’m fleeing what was the U.S. Department of Justice — where I proudly served 19 different attorneys general and six different presidents. For the last three-plus decades, I have respected our leadership regardless of whether we were led by a Republican or a Democrat. I always believed the department’s past leaders were dedicated to the rule of law and the guiding principle that justice is blind. That is a bygone era, but it should not be forgotten. Maybe I should’ve seen this coming, but like many of my colleagues, I fervently hoped that Attorney General William Barr’s...

China has again put its military in a “high state of alert” after two US Navy warships recently sailed through the Taiwan Strait. Late last week the US destroyer John McCain sailed near the disputed Paracel Islands administered and militarized by China, upon which the PLA military warned the US to “halt its provocations”. The latest incident was Wednesday, when the Arleigh Burke class guided-missile destroyer USS Barry passed through the strait. Washington was quick to emphasize that it was a “routine transit” like others toward the purpose of peaceful ‘freedom of navigation’ operations, while Beijing once again denounced the...

Media magnate Rupert Murdoch has predicted privately that Democratic nominee Joe Biden will defeat President Donald Trump in the presidential election in a landslide victory, the Daily Beast reported Thursday. -snip- Murdoch has appeared to enjoy unhindered access to the White House, but has not spoken with Trump lately — at least for several weeks, sources confided to the Daily Beast — after Murdoch grew tired of Trump’s unending grievances about negative coverage from Fox News. Murdoch has griped about Trump in the past, suggesting in a tweet ahead of the 2016 presidential election that then-candidate Donald Trump had been...

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh told the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee on Monday that voting US President Donald Trump out of office is critical for the Palestinians. “The election is very important. God help us, the EU, and the whole world if there are four more years of Trump,” he said. Shtayyeh spoke out against Trump’s peace plan, presented earlier this year. “Trump has wasted four years of everyone’s time,” he said. “The ultimate deal was not delivered. [Trump’s plan] was rejected by the Palestinians, the Arabs and Europe… The US is just too biased.” Shtayyeh called for...

Republican Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah is stressing that the country’s politics has “moved away from the spirited debate to a vile, vituperative, hate-filled morass that is unbecoming of any free nation.” And the 2012 GOP presidential nominee warns that the "rabid attacks kindle the conspiracy mongers and the haters" to launch "dangerous action” such as the recent kidnapping plot against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Romney, the most vocal Republican critic of President Trump in Congress, took to Twitter on Tuesday to take aim at the president.

British ministers have been told to forge links with the White House frontrunner Joe Biden after “writing off” Donald Trump’s chances of re-election, amid fears that the UK could be left out in the cold if the former vice-president wins. Boris Johnson has been warned that Trump is on course for a landslide defeat with his Democratic opponents set to land a historic “triple whammy” by seizing control of the presidency, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Private polling and computer models shown to No 10 last month put Biden’s chances of victory at more than 70 per cent....

Agency Gives Utilities a Break, Reclassifies ‘Cooling Ponds’ as ‘Waste Treatment Systems’ Alice Fleming Guzick and her husband, Bill, have been living at their lake house on Lake Keowee in South Carolina since the coronavirus pandemic started. She likes to paddleboard and kayak there. Trump and Radical Republicans stripped environmental protections from lakes such as the one Guzick lives on when the EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers repealed former President Barack Obama’s Clean Water Rule and replaced it. Environmentalists say the change removes lakes such as Lake Keowee from being protected under the landmark Clean Water Act, which...
