Soldiers refuel a tank at an Army base in Tal Afar, Iraq, 93 miles east of the Syrian border on Friday. A joint U.S.-Iraqi force penetrated deep into the town, a key insurgent staging ground, and arrested 200 suspected militants, according to the Iraqi Army. (Jacob Silberberg / AP Photo)

For the freedom you enjoyed yesterday... Thank the Veterans who served in The United States Armed Forces. Looking forward to tomorrow's freedom? Support The United States Armed Forces Today! Hey Heroes! We Support You! This thread is dedicated to the members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. Lately there have been stories in the media that have been anything but supportive of the military. They want you to believe that America is faltering, and is questioning what you are doing at every turn. I want YOU to know that...

It was a great day in Tucson, Arizona, and not just because the rain had sparkled down a little to spruce up the desert. Today was the day of Support Our Troops rally at Reid Park! I made three signs, WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS AND THEIR MISSION (with freerepublic.com at the bottom) LAND OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE (no room at the bottom) and for the third I wanted to be more original, making a red and yellow hammer and sickle flag with a circle slash and "Say no to communism" at the bottom. I wrote "100,000,000 dead"...

As college students hit campuses across the nation this week, a new generation of young veterans will step off the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan and onto the ideological battlefield of our university campuses. For those on the frontline in the war on terror, the antiwar hostility of liberal professors and campus activists will assuredly prove unsettling. Just ask Marine sergeant Marco Martinez, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom...

TRUE AMERICAN HEROES Let’s show the families of local troops that we support them! What: Flag Waving to Support Our Troops When: This Friday, September 2, 2005 – 4-6 p.m. only Where: Corner of State Road 54 and Little Road in front of Walmart If you have a flag, that’s great – bring it, but we will have 500 flags to hand out! We are tired of all the negative talk about the war against terror. It is important to take a few minutes prior to the upcoming U.S. Labor Day Holiday to let the hundreds of Pasco County men...

In vans and cars in New Mexico...they still have a long way to go They're patriotic and our troops they support They say that they're determined that the lefties they're gonna thwart The old Thomas Guide maps have been hard to read So Stevie Wonder says he'll lead He swears he knows the right way The group concludes it must be okay No big surpise when he takes a wrong turn Some in the group know they've been burned The desert heat has dulled their mind Like...

Cindy Sheehan – Who’s Using Whom By Lisa Sarrach There are those in the media and in print who can still muster sympathy for grieving mother Cindy Sheehan by stating that and I’m paraphrasing here, “the poor woman is being used by the radical Left” to advance their anti-war agenda. Hogwash. It’s apparent that Ms. Sheehan is using the Left to advance HER anti-war agenda. What should be patently obvious to anyone with a brain at this point is that Ms. Sheehan was not happy with the lack of publicity her loony rants had been getting post her FIRST meeting...

The Bright Shield The shining city ‘pon a hill, Hath ne’er possessed a stony wall, Not thorny dike or earthen mound, Defends her from the fall. Within the city course the crowds, Commerce drives them most, Hardly knowing that without, Barbarians lurk in hosts. There is no city gate to break, The moat is easily crossed, And north and south lay trackless lands, Of desert heat or frost. Who keeps that city bright and free? Who guards her from her foes? Who keeps her people far from fear? Who into danger goes? Young they are, of either sex, True and...

Well, somewhat disappointing turnout today in that we only had (actual count) 37 patriots turnout. We usually have 150-250 people. What’s even more disappointing was only one other Freepeer (Seenenuf from San Juan Capistrano) turned out. If there were any other I apologize for missing you. Of course we were well represented by the vets, especially VN vets. I don’t know why you feel guys need to volunteer for another tour of duty, but thanks from the bottom of my heart. Also, thanks to a couple of CCR’s , sorry didn’t get names or collages. Didn’t see any YR’s ,...
