I heard Carolyn Blashek on The Dennis Prager radio show this morning talking about her group, Operation Gratitutde. They put together care packages for our troops. They need everything from handwritten letters, sanitary items, knitted scarves, books, dvd's, $, and more. I thought my fellow FReepers would like to know about this group. It sounds like a wonderful idea. Here is the link.

This is a very short thread to remind you all about this wonderful organization (which was also highlighted on the last ABC's "HOME MAKEOVER" with Ty Pennington). Adopt a soldier and show your support to our men and women in uniform in a personal way. http://www.adoptasoldiernow.org/Home.html

Thank you, Harry Riley, for the magnificent job you have done in getting “Gathering of Eagles” off to such an astounding start. Without you, the job wouldn’t have been done so well. You were just perfect for the job at hand, and America is in your debt. Thanks again. Eagles, this has been one amazing trip, and it ain’t over. Just thinking about how swiftly thousands of patriotic Americans came together and assembled at The Wall in Washington blows my mind. Harry Riley and I spoke by telephone in late January or early February and agreed that Jane Fonda’s and...

http://mainetroopgreeters.smugmug.com/gallery/2586812#136321824 I don't know if any FReepers are members of this great group, but if you are and are reading this, please accept my gratitude. My husband was one of the members of this particular flight, and the show of support is something he says he will never forget. After a long and trying day of goodbyes, he said it was great to be greeted by such wonderful people. Being able to call home was a wonderful bonus, as he had left his cell phone behind, and we had not thought to buy him a phone card before he left....

From Washington to Waimea: Rallies to 'Support our Troops' Special from Hawaii Free Press By Andrew Walden, 3/22/2007 1:33:14 PM “Peace thought strength, fund our troops!” is the message from dozens rallying along Waimea’s Mamalahoa Hwy Saturday March 17. The Waimea “support our troops sign-wave comes in solidarity with the “Gathering of Eagles” veterans rallying to protect the Vietnam Memorial and other national monuments from desecration and vandalism by anti-American war protesters in Washington DC. In a striking sign of the true mood of the public, the anti-Americans, led in Washington by the Stalinist Workers World Party front group, A.N.S.W.E.R....

Monday, March 19, 2007 Leftists Supporting the Troops Discovered by a reader at Indymedia, this was the scene yesterday in Portland, Oregon, as “anti-war” demonstrators burned not only a US flag, but a US soldier in effigy. http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=24853_Leftists_Supporting_the_Troops&only

Today CSPAN decided: a) not to cover the Gathering of Eagles rally, and b) to cover the Workers World Party's rally against America. With this deplorable decision, CSPAN has spit on the American military veteran. How can CSPAN make such a blatantly biased decision? Will they defend their decision, saying that "our" rally doesn't have any celebrities like Gold Star mother, Cindy Sheehan? What about the Gold Star mothers on our side who will be speaking? They may not have the name recognition that Cindy Sheehan has, but CSPAN viewers have a right (and an expectation) that their voices should carry equal...

I am very sorry for the late notice on this Freep; I had to give MPDC time respond to my demonstration permit applications. We are good to go, so here is the important information: WHO: All Freepers and Lurkers in good standing, military and mission supporters, veterans, GOE early arrivals and all other patriots nearby. WHAT: ANSWER's Moonbats who have been camping on the National Mall are descending via greenhouse-gas emitting automobiles on Walter Reed Army Medical Center, to "Stop the War." Of course, you can expect they will have signs calling our troops baby-killers, rapists, etc. You can also...

We have an outstanding update from the Move America Forward staff on the road with the "These Colors Don't Run" caravan. We're writing this at 1:25 AM from Midland, Texas, after having been escorted through Central Texas by law enforcement. The caravan followed the escort into the Monahans, Texas pro-troop rally where the city's fire trucks were lined up with their lights and sirens on. People lined the street, waving their flags. It was incredible. We've had so many unforgettable experiences where the American people have taken the time to turn out and speak out in support of our troops,...

The National Park Service has issued a permit for the Gathering of Eagles demonstration and rally on March 17 in Washington, D.C. as illustrated on the Eagle web site “Maps” link under “Sections”. BOTTOM LINE: AS UNACCEPTABLE AS THE PERMIT GRANTED IS, WE WILL BE ABLE TO PROTECT THE VIETNAM MEMORIAL WALL We view the permit decision unacceptable and will be taking immediate steps to appeal what we believe is an unworkable decision. If the National Park Service is unfavorable to our appeal, our legal arm will pursue immediate court action to acquire an equitable, realistic solution. The good news...

March On the Pentagon March 17, 2007 Washington, D.C. On March 17, 2007 a group of anti-war protestors are planning to march to the Pentagon from Washington, D.C. The March 17th anti-war demonstration will assemble at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (Constitution Gardens) at 12 noon in Washington, D.C. and march to the Pentagon.
