Kirk John Thompson was electrocuted at the derelict Panteg steelworks, in Pontypool, South Wales, when his bolt croppers pierced the plastic coating of a cable still connected to the National Grid. APPLETON (WFRV) - A 'sticky' situation was averted when police arrested an Appleton man early Wednesday morning for burglary. Shortly after 4:30am, Appleton police were dispatched to a home in the 1600 block of N. Wilmer Avenue for a report of a burglary in progress. The homeowners told officers they were awakened after hearing a person whistling in their basement. Three youths were arrested Friday night after Saanich police found a digital camera bearing pictures of them catching them breaking into two cars. The photographers? The would-be thieves themselves. Newport News, Va. -- A woman who tried to extort money from the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain by putting a dead mouse in a bowl of soup was sentenced to a year in jail. Carla Patterson, 38, and her 22-year-old son, Ricky Patterson, sought $500,000 from the chain after claiming they found the rodent in the vegetable soup the woman ordered at a Newport News restaurant on Mother's Day weekend in 2004. MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A burglary victim got a surprise after filing a statement with police. He was charged with burglary himself. Clarence Dodson, 47, was arrested while talking with detectives about a 14-year-old neighbor police suspected of breaking into his house.
