Hundreds of letters and photographs are missing from the National Archives and its regional offices, including one presidential library. Many are suspected stolen. The extent of the losses is detailed in a series of reports from the organization's investigative office, but the value of the items is difficult to determine because that is largely measured by historic importance and rarity.

The criminal probe into how and why former Clinton national security adviser Sandy Berger illegally sneaked classified documents out of the National Archives is going forward despite a report that no originals are missing, officials say. "The investigation continues. It's irrelevant whether or not there are originals missing. What matters is that removing classified documents without authorization is illegal," a government official said. The Wall Street Journal on Friday quoted National Archives spokeswoman Susan Cooper as saying her agency is "confident" that no originals are lost — but she couldn't be reached and other officials declined to confirm that claim....

I heard a story today on talk radio that was said to be circulated in the Washington Post. I tried to fetch it but I could not get into the Post news site. It said the documents Berger stole were about the Clinton administration blocking the investigation of the suspects that later commited the 911 hijackings. Sorry that is all the info I have , I think it was on Hugh Hewitt? .. can't remember. Can someone please access this story before it gets buried ? thanks
