Build Back Better is a bust. We all know that. Nothing gets built, and nothing gets better. 'Congress provided $7.5B for electric vehicle chargers. Built so far: Zero.' 'Two years later, the program has yet to install a single charger.' From @politicohttps://t.co/0PY4VNcjbO— Byron York (@ByronYork) December 5, 2023Still, you would think that if the Biden Administration decided something was a priority, like getting Americans out of internal combustion engine cars and into EVs, some movement toward that goal would have been made. You would be wrong. The true purpose of the “Inflation Reduction Act” was to pass the Green New Deal under...

As gas stations go, there are few chains that have managed to capture the attention of travelers — and eaters — like Buc-ee’s. The Texas-born chain is a highway oasis, boasting a slew of clean bathrooms, a dizzying array of snacks and prepared foods, and tons of merch emblazoned with the chipper face of its mascot, a beaver named Bucky. [...] Founded in 1982, the chain slowly built a local cult following and in 2001, owner Arch “Beaver” Aplin expanded the convenience store into a full-fledged travel center in Luling, Texas. More locations popped up across the state in the...

President Biden on Thursday received a warm welcome in England from UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson — but dodged a handshake from Johnson to instead greet his new 33-year-old bride after telling the British leader he “married up” — amid a reported dust up over Northern Ireland policy. “Wait a minute! Wait a minute!” Biden said, waving off Johnson as he emerged from his motorcade. Biden, 78, walked past Johnson with a beaming smile on his face. “Good to see you! Best wishes!” Biden said, bumping wrists with Carrie Johnson, the Prime Minister’s 33- year-old bride. Turning to Johnson, Biden...

NASA chief Jim Bridenstine told lawmakers Wednesday it was crucial for the US to maintain a presence in Earth's orbit after the International Space Station is decommissioned so that China does not gain a strategic advantage. The first parts of the ISS were launched in 1998 and it has been continuously lived in since 2000. The station, which serves as a space science lab and is a partnership between the US, Russia, Japan, Europe and Canada, is currently expected to be operated until 2030. "I'll tell you one thing that has me very concerned—and that is that a day is...

A day after arriving at the International Space Station on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule, NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken laid claim to a U.S. flag that symbolizes America’s capability to send people to orbit from U.S. soil. The handkerchief-sized flag, sealed in a plastic envelope, has been kept aboard the space station since 2011, when NASA’s final space shuttle crew left it behind before making their departure aboard Atlantis. It was displayed above the Harmony module’s hatch - and, for a time, stored in an equipment bag, nearly forgotten - with instructions that it was to be taken...

All three had left Earth before the coronavirus pandemic began, as Meir noted in a live broadcast Friday from the space station. "It's a little bit difficult to believe that we are truly going back to a different...

... Japanese rail system occasionally becomes the focus of international headlines—as on May 11, when West Japan Railways issued a florid apology after one of its commuter trains left the station 25 seconds early.... The orderliness of society is taken as a given—Japanese commuters know how to queue on an escalator and can easily navigate the confusing, but wide-open, spaces of Tokyo’s rail stations without assistance. This allows rail operators to instead focus on deeper psychological manipulation. Operating on the theory that exposure to blue light has a calming effect on one’s mood, rail stations in Japan began installing these...
