BlazeTV host Sara Gonzales says anti-Semitism has been “rearing its ugly head” for a long time now in America. “And so often the Democrats kept trying to push it down ... and pretend like it didn’t exist, and then after October 7, they realised they couldn’t pretend anymore,” she told Sky News host James Morrow. This comes after Jewish comedian and actor Jerry Seinfeld had his show protested by hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists. “This is very frightening stuff – I think that this is going to be the new norm,” Ms Gonzales said. “The new BLM where you have all...

Elvis Costello gave shape to his own budding career with a rebellious move on Saturday Night Live, switching mid-song into a diatribe against corporate-controlled broadcasting -- and getting himself banned from the show for a dozen years. Thing is, Costello was never supposed to be there in the first place, and he's admitted he got the idea from a legendary classic rocker, not the punk scene. The Sex Pistols were actually booked for the Dec. 17, 1977, show, but couldn't make it. That opened the door for Costello, whose debut, My Aim Is True, had just come out in the...

Viewers were displeased following SNL's cold open Saturday night, which mocked last week's congressional hearings on campus anti-Semitism. The opening sketch attempted to make light of the college presidents' lacking testimony, but their efforts evoked few laughs. Then backlash began online, where viewers slammed the sketch for attempting to undermine the seriouesness of anti-Semitism on US college campuses in the weeks since the October 7 terror attack.

Kevin Brennan, a former Saturday Night Live writer, has shrugged off criticism of jokes he made about the death of Friends star Matthew Perry. Soon after TMZ reported on Perry’s passing on Saturday, Brennan posted on X (fka Twitter): “DROWNED IN A HOT TUB. HAHAHAHA.” In another message he remarked on Perry’s well-documented history of abusing alcohol and prescription drugs, saying: “I do love it when junkies die.” The host of The Misery Loves Company Podcast faced a backlash from X users over the remarks, with one person describing him as a “ghoul.” Brennan, who worked on SNL between 1999...

Now listen to a story 'bout a man named Abdul - The poor Bedouin barely kept his family full, and then one day he was shootin' at some Jews, and up through the ground came a bubblin' crude. Oil that is, Virgin Perrier, Kuwait Kool-aid, Saudi Soda. Well the first thing you know, Abdul's a billionaire. The kinfolks said, "Abdul, move away from there!", they said, "Californy is the place without a care!", so they loaded up the Rolls and they moved to Bel Air - next to Beverly Hills, that is - swimmin' pools, movie stars, Jews...

In a candid new interview with NPR, former Saturday Night Live cast member Leslie Jones says the show’s limitations made her “a caricature” of herself, although she came to realize that the process was par for the course at the longrunning NBC show. “They take that one thing [about you] and they wring it,” she says. “They wring it because that’s the machine. So whatever it is that I’m giving that they’re so happy about, they feel like it’s got to be that all the time or something like that. So it was like a caricature of myself. … Either...

The episode of Saturday Night Live aired on April 22, 1978, can stake a legitimate claim to being the best in SNL history. Hosted for the fifth time by a never-better Steve Martin, the episode re-teams Martin with Dan Aykroyd for their strongest “Wild and Crazy Guys” sketch. (The one where the swinging Czech brothers patiently explain to Garrett Morris Cliff that their hot dates are late only because they had to pick up their birth control devices at the Statue of Liberty.) Martin and Gilda Radner do their deliriously silly and romantic pas de deux to “Dancing in the...

“I’d like to talk seriously, just for a moment,” Steve Martin said on the April 22, 1978, episode of Saturday Night Live. His solemnity was only marginally undercut by the fact that he was draped in stereotypical ancient Egyptian garb, with a multicolored and architectural hat atop his head. Martin’s lecture arrived midway through the show, leaving plenty of time to put together what turned out to be one of the most popular and elaborately silly pieces had ever attempted on SNL. Standing in darkness, Martin went on to explain how the impossibly commercialized “Treasures of Tutankhamun” museum tour then...
