The late-night show’s Season 49 debut, hosted by Pete Davidson, marked its highest launch on Peacock
The first episode of “Saturday Night Live” since the onset of the writers’ strike in May scored 4.8 million viewers, up 19% from last season’s 2022 premiere.

4.8 million. All from Poison Ivy League schools. Hoping to see SNL justify their love for Hamas terrorists.
What happened? Did they finally make fun of a Democrat?
Partly it’s because far fewer people are watching broadcast TV networks such as NBC than in previous decades. The highest rated shows nowadays have far fewer viewers, because there are so many choices with cable TV channels, internet streaming, You Tube channels, etc. to view.
So the top rated shows nowadays have far fewer people watching as a percentage of the population.
Cursory review online shows that the top primetime show this season is NBC Sunday Night Football, with 18 million viewers on average. That’s only about 5% of the population of the US watching.
The writers strike ended.
A large bump in ratings for late night shows also. Way above the average.
Anyway it probably won’t last. The same writers. Same hosts. Same old Sh*t.
😉
I don’t know, but I do know this: it’s time for SNL to be canceled because the show just isn’t funny anymore.
Why do I hate and despise Pete Davidson so much?
Dammit!
But he's not funny. That's all.
I think late night shows are dated. The last great ones were Leno and Letterman. Nowadays people would rather watch Mr. Beast on YouTube instead.
Back when that show started pre VCR, I use to take naps to watch that show. For the last 20,years or so SNL wasn’t worth the effort to Program the DVR. It became too biased and not funny, good luck to them anyway.
Unfunny, that’s it, but like a jerk that doesn’t even care. I also see nothing from Kate McKinnon that would make me believe she is a human being.
I would disagree a bit. Craig Ferguson was brilliant. Always entertaining, and not the least bit woke. I was really disappointed when he decided to hang it up.
But in real life he is a far left loon
I really don’t care. And I’ve seen no indication of that. When it comes to entertainers, I really don’t care what one’s political beliefs are as long as I don’t have to listen to them.
Craig Ferguson wasn’t as mainstream as Leno and Letterman, that’s because his program was on at 12:30 pm. BTW, Letterman used to be funny up to around 2000, I think Bush made him bitter and partisan. But he wasn’t always like that.
*12:30 am
There was strike; who knew?
Must’ve missed it. When is it on?
People are hard up for entertainment. I remember holding off on going out on Saturday nights until we watched at least some of SNL. I never understood it, the women wanted to watch, us guys or just me wanted to go have some suds.
