The Quogue Police Department said that the shark was seen near Penniman Creek at approximately 9am on Saturday. The creek provides access to the Shinnecook Bay and the Quogue Canal, Pix 11 reports.

Scientists have identified the first species of shark that is not solely carnivorous. The bonnethead shark, a smaller relative of the hammerhead, has been found to digest vast amounts of seagrass as well as meat.
