Writing for The Atlantic on March 10, Shadi Hamid opined that in America today, “As Christianity’s hold, in particular, has weakened, ideological intensity and fragmentation have risen. American faith, it turns out, is as fervent as ever; it’s just that what was once religious belief has now been channeled into political belief” (his emphasis). While this is certainly true, it is also true that religious belief has been merged with political belief. Yet, in many ways, the Christian spirit is very different than the political spirit. The two often make a very bad mix. But before I explain what I...

Threats of left-wing political violence if President Trump is reelected have gone from subtext to the plain text. The quiet part is becoming very loud. Threats of left-wing political violence if President Trump is reelected have gone from subtext to the plain text. Writing at The Atlantic, Shadi Hamid warns of “mass unrest and political violence across American cities” if Trump wins. The Democrats are embracing their inner movie villain: It votes for Biden, or it gets the riots again. Not that the rioting and related violence have stopped—from the attempted assassination of cops in Los Angeles to “mostly peaceful” protests...

Most of the people whom I like or trust believe—and believe rather strongly—that what Trump has done rises to a crime. For them, the analysis of whether Trump should be impeached can’t help but be informed by their view that Trump represents an existential threat to the country. If he might damage American democracy at some fundamental level, without any obvious recourse, then pursuing his removal from office would seem to go without saying. That he is in a position to win again in 2020 and serve another four years makes impeachment all the more urgent. --- On a purely...

President Trump would have designated the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization right after his inauguration in 2017, but has faced strong opposition from the Swamp JULY 12, 2019 BY BARENAKEDISLAM This latest push for the designation appears to be the result of Trump’s recent meeting with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi. “The president has consulted with his national security team and leaders in the region who share his concern, and this designation is working its way through the internal process,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in May. Be sure to watch the video at the end where Muslim...

Last night at dinner a relative from NYC who described himself as a "bleeding heart liberal" opposed cutting off the immigration of Syrian refugees because in his view that would run counter to American traditions. He's a great guy, but that is a dangerous misinterpretation. We have no obligation to commit collective suicide. What's more troubling is that supposed experts on the subject are voicing similar views. On today's State of the Union with Jake Tapper, Shadi Hamid of the Brookings Institution actually surmised that the Paris killer who made it into Europe was probably the only terrorist among the...

On Saturday Brookings Institution Fellow, Shadi Hamid, tweeted a photo of the front page of what he describes as a "liberal" Egyptian newspaper which has proclaimed President Obama as a full-fledged member of the Muslim Brotherhood. The paper goes on to report that the son of a Muslim Brotherhood leader recently threatened to release documents proving Obama's membership in the terrorist organization, according to Hamid.

Muslim Students Association Telling Lies By Diana Appelbaum, December 25, 2003 Home Search Forum Terms At some point in the last two or three years, someone who hates Israel fabricated a bloodthirsty quotation and attributed it to Ariel Sharon. The false quote has circulated widely on anti-Israel and anti-Semitic WEB sites and list serves, and at least three student columnists have published it as fact in reputable college newspapers, the Georgetown University Hoya, the University of Florida Alligator, and the University of Illinois Daily Ilini. This is, or ought to be, a source of shame to the...

<p>In the days after Sept. 11, 2001, Sami Omar al-Hussayen led fellow Muslims as they joined an emotion-charged candlelight march remembering the dead. The Saudi graduate student in computer science at the University of Idaho helped organize a blood drive for victims. He issued a press release on behalf of the Muslim Students Association, stating that the small town of Moscow's Muslims "condemn in the strongest terms possible what are apparently vicious acts of terrorism against innocent citizens."</p>
