Empty wallets might finally do to the crowd of Democrat 2020 presidential challengers what national disinterest could not. New financial disclosures show that 11 liberal contenders for the Oval Office are operating their campaigns at a deficit, having spent more money than campaign donations could support. Eight more have less than $1 million on hand. More than five months from 2020, only the front-runners have the financial means to go much further. “This is the doomsday scenario for a lot of campaigns, where they’re grasping for air to keep their campaigns alive and to live another day,” said Washington Democrat...

The headline in Salon blared, “Fourth of July's ugly truth exposed: The Declaration of Independence is sexist, racist, prejudiced,†leading Commentary editor Noah Rothman to tweet out, “So woke, you’re on George III’s side.â€But it must be difficult for the left to figure out how to square Great Britain, be it post-American Revolution or post-Brexit, since when you look deeply, you realize the that Britons had to face some tough realities—navigating Brexit being the latest. There were twin circumstances driving the decision of a majority of Britons to leave the EU—circumstances that the United States is grappling with too: immigration,...

Good morning, Free Republic. Today I'm giving you all a nice little guide on how to really annoy the governm- I mean, exercise your 2A right to build an unregistered Glock handgun at home, using basic hand tools. States like Washington have recently banned certain homemade firearms and gun-making kits like the 80% Glock frame, and 3D-printed firearms. We discussed the bill a few weeks ago, but to recap: Bill SHB 1739 effectively bans "undetectable" firearms: "Except as otherwise provided in this section, it is unlawful for any person to manufacture, own, buy, sell, loan, furnish, transport, or have in...

Hawaii Gov. David Ige signed two new pieces of gun control legislation seven days ago, severely restricting the rights of thousands of travelers entering the state with firearms and imposing potential gun consifactions without due process. Senate Bill 600 effectively raises the minimum age to transport a firearm into the state to the age of 21. This legislation discriminates against lawful, adult Americans who may otherwise travel to the state for the purposes of hunting, target competition, or even relocation. Speaking of relocation, the state of Hawaii plays host to more than 36,000 U.S. service members who currently live and...

Name calling is the last refuge for one losing an argument. Much like a roundhouse punch that hits nothing but air, it’s a final effort in a losing fight. But it’s also been the one reliable punch for Democrats, playing the race card against opponents. Not so much now, however. Shouting, “You’re a racist!” has been the preferred comeback for Democrats on the losing side of an argument. Alternatives to the word racist include Nazi, bigot, fascist, homophobe, sexist, and so on, but racist has the best quick jab-like sting. Sometimes name calling can fall flat, as in calling Supreme...

The End of Prudence and the Triumph of Ideology in the Democratic Party Clifford Humphrey July 16, 2019 Commentary Steve Bullock, John Delaney, and Tim Ryan have two things in common. Of all the Democratic presidential candidates, they alone oppose providing government-funded health care to illegal immigrants. They also stand virtually no chance of winning the Democratic primary election. There’s plenty of space in which to disagree on issues. The problem is that Democratic candidates aren’t using that space at all. With only a few rather insignificant exceptions, they’re all huddled together in the furthest left corner of the stage....

The political news is all about the 2020 presidential election. We get daily polls purportedly informing us of who is up, who is down, who's going up, who's going down, and the impact of every comment, either woke or misspoke. The Beltway and the Acela corridor lock in on this "data" as if it were an NFL championship game between teams led by Payton Manning and Tom Brady. (I'd use a women's soccer analogy, but no one's watching women's soccer, and foul-mouthed think pieces don't age well). The rest of America, particularly once you are about a 30- to 35-mile radius away (about...

A woman fired her gun outside the Parkville License Office in Kansas City, Missouri, reportedly because she was tired of waiting. The woman, estimated to be in her 40s, entered the building and started cursing when she saw the long line and insisted on being next in line. The unidentified female asked DMV workers to call their supervisor, who was not on the premises at the time. Zick says she followed the woman outside to get her license plate number. The woman then pulled out a gun and fired into the air. The woman then allegedly fired twice into a...

President Trump’s impeachment organizer Tom Steyer has joined the race to become the Democratic presidential nominee with a pledge to spend $100 million of his own billion-dollar fortune. While it will not put him any closer to defeating Donald Trump, it does likely close the door on former Vice President Joe Biden winning the nomination. Steyer’s notoriety comes from donating the billions he has made investing in fossil fuels, private prisons and subprime lending companies into progressive activism for impeaching President Trump and reckless environmental policies. He will be pushing the same radical, job-killing climate change ideas that those defining...

The endless fight between Republicans and Democrats seemed to pause last week. The cause: former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz's announcement on "60 Minutes" on Jan. 27 that he is seriously considering a 2020 run for president as a centrist independent. Social media and partisan opinion writers lost their collective minds on that possibility, one of the parties seemingly deploying an activist to disrupt his first public outing, a New York City book event. "Don't help elect Trump, you egotistical billionaire a--hole," the heckler yelled. "Go back to getting ratio'ed on Twitter. Go back to Davos with the other billionaire elites...

Who the hell does this guy think he is? Does he think that the Men in Black came in overnight and used their “neuralyzer” to wipe people’s memories? Bro, we remember that you admitted to doing blackface, we know you’re nickname was “Coonman” at the Virginia Military Institute, and we know your yearbook photo at Eastern Virginia Medical School has one person in blackface and another in full Ku Klux Klan regalia—all of these photos were personally submitted by you. No one forgot about this, you idiot. No one. And if you weren’t a Democrat, you would’ve been kicked to...

In a June 21 press release, Vermont governor Phil Scott announced his decision to hire Xusana Davis, a thirty-year-old from New York City, as "the state's first executive director of racial disparity." Ms. Davis has been commissioned "to identify and address systemic racial disparities and support the state's efforts to expand and bring diversity to Vermont's overall population[.]" But it is far from clear that there are any "systemic racial disparities" to address. Governor Scott and Vermont attorney general T.J. Donovan have vocally condemned the Green Mountain State and its inhabitants as racist, based on statistics that show that blacks...

The Second Amendment is so clear and simple that only liberals, aided by a half-wit liberal law school professor-tariat that is to real lawyering as Jerry Nadler is to Chippendales, could pretend to be confused about its meaning with a straight face. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”The whole “shall not be infringed” part is a real problem for the left, since collectivist Castro-channelers prefer that we Americans be defenseless serfs existing at the government’s (i.e., their) mercy when...

U.S.A. –-(Ammoland.com)- In 1938, Congress, for the first time, created categories of people who could not legally possess firearms under federal law. In 1968, those categories were expanded. In 1986, under pressure from gun owners and the National Rifle Association, the law was reformed, so a person had to know they were in violation in order to be prosecuted. On 23 June 2019, the Supreme Court upheld the reform in the 1986 law. Prosecution normally requires a person to know they are committing a crime, or that they are doing something wrong. From the decision: As this Court has...

Jupiter Police Department says they responded to calls of a disturbance and possible shots fired along University Blvd. a little after 12 a.m. According to police, 32-year-old James Dorcilien stabbed his former employer, 65-year-old Louis Rivera, outside of Rivera's apartment during a confrontation. Rivera discharged his weapon in self-defense as Dorcilien fled on foot, police add. Officers later found Dorcilien's body at the apartment complex.

Presume every single one of my semi-urban middle-class, middle-aged female neighbors does yoga. Enter Marianne Williamson. In addition to being a Democratic presidential contender, Williamson is some sort of a failed actress who was big in Los Angeles in the 1980s—not as an actress, but as a New Age guru. She is an author of several best-sellers on the topic of “metaphysics,” and she’s been on “Oprah†countless times. She officiated an Elizabeth Taylor wedding, remains popular with Hollywood celebrities, and is endorsed by former presidential contender Dennis Kucinich.A charismatic cult leader, Williamson advises her followers to forego science-based Western...

Well, it looks like we’ll have our first official drop out for the 2020 season this afternoon. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who ran on gun confiscation, is reportedly deciding to exit the race for the Democratic nomination and plans to run for re-election to his House seat in deep blue California instead. Yeah, real shocker that running on an unconstitutional gun control initiative, among many other things, didn’t help. Also, no one knows who the hell he is. He made a clown of himself in the first debate, drawing attention to himself for all the wrong reasons. Simply put, there...

By the looks of it, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) is preparing to call it quits on his presidential campaign. He's canceled several of his events and scheduled a press conference for this afternoon at 4 p.m., where he's expected to make it official. Instead, he's going to run to keep his House seat. It should be a surprise to no one who has followed the early stages of the 2020 Democratic primary. Swalwell's short-lived effort was light on substance and heavy on the cringe. He struggled to attract crowds, and picked losing fights. About 18 people showed up to his anti-gun...

Democrat presidential hopeful Eric Swalwell told CNN background checks would make us “all safe in America.” Swalwell said he went shooting with two veterans and Shannon Watts, the founder of Michael Bloomberg-funded Moms Demand Action. He said, “What I found when we had veterans and NRA members and a mom who cares about gun violence, was there wasn’t much that we disagreed on.” He added, “And 72 percent of NRA members who have been polled said that they wanted background checks too.” Swalwell did not provide the name of company that allegedly “polled” NRA members nor did he name the...

I laughed too hard for too long at this, or maybe I did not laugh hard enough or long enough. Democratic presidential hopeful Eric Swalwell (D-CA) hates guns. This week he held an anti-gun rally near the National Rifle Association in Virginia. However, the turnout was huge – for Second Amendment supporters. Approximately only 18 people showed up. He also has a disdain for anyone that owns firearms. Swalwell wants to confiscate AR1’s first. After that, he “has a plan” for handguns. He is an example of why our Founding Fathers recognized our God-given right to bear arms. If anyone...
