Sarah Palin's much-publicized "One Nation" bus tour got off to a chaotic and rumbling start Sunday in Washington, with no bus in sight and the potential presidential candidate only occasionally popping into view. The former Alaska governor, who has indicated she is still contemplating a run for the White House in 2012, showed up at a motorcycle rally at the Pentagon, clad in black leather, a black helmet and sunglasses, riding on the back of a motorcycle driven by an unidentified woman. Fox News, with whom Palin has a contract for political commentary, said Palin attended the rally with her...

Dressed in black jeans, leather jacket and crash helmet, the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate joined tens of thousands of bikers in a rally honouring military veterans. "It is certainly seen by those in the media as a godsend, as it will give a so far dismal Republican primary season a shot of excitement. "However, the Republican establishment cannot be happy. They probably view her candidacy as a spoiler, as she has the potential to split their party's vote and ensure a Democratic win." Mrs Palin is a paid contributor to Fox News and has her own reality TV show....

There’s no better way to see D.C. than on the back of a Harley! My family may be used to snowmachines more so than motorcycles (though you couldn’t tell it with Todd driving a hog today with Piper on the back and with Bristol riding on the back of another bike). But whether you’re riding the open road or the frozen tundra, you’re celebrating a free spirit. What could be more American than that? Today’s Rolling Thunder rally in DC is all about freedom. And it’s about duty and loyalty and service. The message heard loud and clear through the...

Amid the chaos, there was Sarah Palin. Only one advance staffer was on hand to wrangle the fans and reporters hoping to get close to the former vice presidential nominee, who arrived at Sunday’s Rolling Thunder rally on a motorcycle driven by her daughter Willow. At the first stop on Palin’s bus tour — which, so far, has a vague itinerary and no other formally announced stops — security and press relations were left to a small group of disgruntled bikers. When asked about the tour, Palin offered only, “This is our first stop; we’re very thankful to be here.”...

I cannot find ANY live feed for the Rolling Thunder rally. I thought C-Span was supposed to start coverage starting 12:45 - 2pm, but they aren't. Did they get "notice" not to? I'm really ticked off.

Remember when Andrea Mitchell attempted to interrupt Governor Palin’s Going Rogue tour in 2009 and got stopped cold by a security guard? Well, Andrea Mitchell attempted to interrupt Governor Palin’s “One Nation” tour with a false report and has been stopped cold by the facts. Yesterday, she falsely reported on Andrea Mitchell Reports that Governor Palin was not invited to participate in Rolling Thunder activities this weekend, relying on one disgruntled source to imply that Palin was using the veteran’s group for publicity without their approval. Mitchell’s story has been thoroughly refudiated. Hot Air scoop: Sarah Palin’s “One Nation” bus...

Sarah Palin’s “One Nation” bus tour appeared to have gotten off to a false start yesterday as a member of the pro-veterans organization Rolling Thunder went on NBC to denounce her presence at an upcoming event of theirs, claiming no one had invited her. Turns out, as per organization spokesperson Christine Colborne, Palin had been invited, but had RSVP’d too soon for the group to announce her arrival to all its members. Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey called up the organization and got in touche with Colborne, who explained that the issue was one of “internal miscommunication” and that Palin had...

Last night, NBC’s Andrea Mitchell and Lauren Stephenson reported that the veterans group Rolling Thunder had not invited Sarah Palin to their annual ride taking place this weekend and were dumbfounded when Palin announced her participation as the start of her bus tour. Under the headline “Stealing Their Thunder,” Mitchell suggested that Palin was hijacking their “very serious purpose” with her participation. The piece hinges on an interview with Rolling Thunder’s Ted Shpak, who called Palin’s announcement “a big distraction”: One day after Sarah Palin announced her bus tour, a group sponsoring a Memorial Day weekend event she plans to...

SNIP "It is a big distraction, because my phone's been ringing off the hook since she announced it," Ted Shpak, legislative director for Rolling Thunder, the group that hosts the annual rally in support of American POWs and veterans, told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell in an interview Friday. Shpak implied that Palin's presence would detract from the event's focus. "We're not political, this is not a political event," Shpak said. "The way it came out, it sounded like we endorsed her." Though Palin will reportedly make Sunday's rally the first stop in her bus tour, Shpak was clear that her bus...

Restore the Good in America Link to VideoOur nation is at a critical turning point. As we look to the future, we are propelled by America's past. It's imperative that we connect with our founders, our patriots, our challenges and victories to clearly see our way forward. A good way to do this is to appreciate the significance of our nation's historic sites, patriotic events and diverse cultures, which we'll do in the coming weeks on our "One Nation" tour. We'll celebrate the good things that bring Americans together; those things that will give us the needed strength to...

Dontcha’ know, Sarah Palin is coming to town this weekend, and you may see her cruising the streets of D.C. on the back of a hog. The former Alaska governor, who is the subject of a lot of overheated speculation about whether she will run for president in 2012, has accepted an invitation to participate in the annual Rolling Thunder memorial ride this Sunday, an official says. “As far as I know, she is trying to rent a motorcycle, so she can ride with her husband,” said Nancy Regg, a spokeswoman for Rolling Thunder. Gregg says the tentative plan is...

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin (R), who has been largely out of the public eye through much of the spring, will reemerge Sunday as she begins a national bus tour that will put her back in the spotlight and no doubt renew speculation about a possible presidential bid. The tour, the first of what will be a series of such journeys over a period of weeks, will start on Sunday in Washington at the annual Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally and work its way north along the East Coast. She will visit other parts of the country later, stopping at symbolically...

Hello Yupette, Thank you for your blog. You should know that many Arlingtonians have expressed unhappiness about the noise and bad behavior from 'Rolling Thunder' We recently suggested that 'Rolling Thunder' move to a resort area like Virginia Beach and that 'Rolling Thunder' be replaced by bicycle and pedestrian events. We were ignored. Thanks for trying to improve our quality of life, not cater to every special interest that wants to do its thing in Arlington. Susan
