Ted Cruz‘s epic battle with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on the Senate floor flowed onto the Fox News set Monday when two influential personalities called out the Texas senator for not going after Donald Trump in the name of party solidarity — but being willing to attack one of his own party’s leaders. On Fox News’ “Special Report” Monday, commentator Brit Hume accused Cruz of hypocrisy. Scott Walker seems fixated on Marco Rubio. Wednesday on CNN, the Wisconsin governor *again* suggested Rubio should be his running mate. Walker couched it in terms that his supporters keep on bringing up Rubio’s name. But Walker has done it enough times to suggest it’s something else. The first mention came in March when a Republican leader in Iowa said Walker to hold him, “if he were the nominee … Rubio would make a terrific running mate." Now comes the gauzy CNN piece, an interview conducted by Republican pundit S.E. Cupp, who asked about the senators in the GOP primary....

PORTLAND, Ore. – On Friday, Dr. Monica Wehby refused an invitation from KGW and The Oregonian to appear in a televised debate against Sen. Jeff Merkley. One day later, she failed to show up for a scheduled interview with the Willamette Week. The newspaper reports that Wehby requested the interview be held Saturday to accommodate her schedule. Merkley and two minor party candidates, Christina Lugo of the Pacific Green Party and James Leunenberger of the Constitution Party, arrived on time.

WASHINGTON — In the year since he stepped down from Congress, Steven C. LaTourette, a Republican from Ohio, has emerged as one of the top generals in the establishment Republicans’ war against the Tea Party. It is a role that has benefited the Main Street Partnership, a corporate-backed advocacy group he runs, and its effort to raise millions of dollars to protect centrist Republicans from Tea Party challengers. It has also helped draw clients to a separate lobbying office Mr. LaTourette and his wife have set up across the street from the Capitol. But this blitz of activity has led...

A lot of people are asking for this list so I am going to publish it courtesy of CNS News. Please be advised that I am also putting up some links to what I feel is a better list. It has the same names but if you really want to get to the bottom of the story you will find patterns that were obviously politically based. For instance, we have all likely heard about the money for the dam in Kentucky but what did Nebraska get out of this? Nebraska has 2 senators and 3 representatives who are ALL...

Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell has floated a proposal for a couple years now as a last-chance way to avert a crisis and allow the president to raise the debt ceiling without congressional approval, with Congress having the ability to strip that authority with a two-thirds veto – and that’s sort of what the bill to be voted on tonight provides for (see pages 24 ff. of the bill).Assuming it passes tonight, the debt ceiling will be suspended until February 7, meaning the treasury can borrow what it needs to fund obligations until then. Then within the next 14 days, the House and...

Every time we have a congressional impasse over budgetary issues, we hear from liberals predicting Shutdown-mageddon. Why don't they ever join us in expressing concern over the inevitable financial collapse that will result from their policies? We always seem to hyperventilate over these mini-crises involving the temporary shutdown of small parts of the precious federal government, while we totally ignore the real financial catastrophe we're headed toward unless we begin to move in the direction Sen. Ted Cruz and other congressional Republicans are insisting on in these budgetary battles — defunding Obamacare, reining in spending, and reforming unsustainable entitlements. Indeed,...

Former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is in talks with the Fox New Channel to join the network, a Fox spokeswoman has confirmed. She declined to say what role Brown would play at the cable network. The network recently cut ties with former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and former Clinton presidential advisor Dick Morris. Brown, who lost his Senate seat to Democrat Elizabeth Warren in November, announced last Friday he would not be running in the special Senate election to fill the seat being vacated by Secretary of State John F. Kerry. Meanwhile, Kadant Inc. of Westford, a paper...

With Brown out, GOP mulls Romney energy (He's back; Mr. RomneyCARE and family for MA Senate)) "Massachusetts Republicans are desperately scrambling to find a strong Senate candidate to replace Scott Brown, with some even trying to persuade Mitt Romney’s wife or son to jump into the race to avert another electoral disaster. ... Other GOP leaders also raised the prospect of Mitt’s eldest son, Tagg, launching a surprise Senate campaign. Tagg Romney was a close campaign adviser and surrogate for his father and is a successful businessman living in Belmont."

The Republican-led House Rules Committee late Monday approved a rule for a massive Hurricane Sandy relief package that shuts out most GOP proposals to pare back the size of the bill. The main bill provides $17 billion in relief, and an amendment made in order would add another $33.7 billion, for a total of $50.7 billion. Late last week, Republicans offered amendments that would trim the bill significantly, but few of those were made "in order" by the Rules Committee on Monday. For example, Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) proposed amendments that would have slashed $22 billion from the total package,...

Conservative columnist and Conservative Political Action Conference fan favorite Ann Coulter took to the stage at CPAC Friday afternoon to offer some comments about her frustrations with President Obama, her support for presidential candidate Mitt Romney, and the general unattractiveness of liberal women. In response to an audience question regarding how a person could be both a women and a conservative, Coulter explained that is what true women actually are. “I think all real females are right-wingers,” Coulter said, ” and I can tell you that based on experience — and my bodyguard will back me up on this —...

Is O'Reilly in the tank for Romney? I realize this was a charity event, but O'Reilly's snarkiness towards all things Palin leads me to believe that Romney has already made his choice for 2012. http://twitpic.com/2gt3orCheck out Romney's twitter feed for more photos.
