In a final insane attempt to turn the tide of the war and make up for the lack of soldiers old enough to go into battle, he recruited massively from among the Hitler Youth, enlisting children as young as 12 years old. These little soldiers were sent to fight battles that they had no hope of winning. Nonetheless, as a rule, they fought zealously. The estranged wife of an elderly financier griped in Manhattan court Tuesday that he gave her a measly allowance of $10,000 a month — then slashed it in half when she asked him to start his estate planning. Foster — an 82-year-old private-equity bigshot now claiming dire financial straits in their multiyear divorce proceeding — eventually dwindled her allowance to nothing, forcing her to submit expense reports to his management company to get reimbursed. Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance called high housing costs “the biggest threat to the American dream” during a NewsNation town hall Thursday. “So many people in my generation — they’re delaying having families, they’re delaying getting married because they can’t afford a place to raise a family,” Vance told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo. Low inventory, elevated mortgage rates and record-high prices have turned buying a home from a dream into a nightmare in recent years. At the same time, rising child care costs have stretched families’ finances and caused others to delay having kids altogether.
