You'll shoot your eye out at this news. The A Christmas Story sequel has a release date of Nov. 17, according to HBO Max. The follow-up, called A Christmas Story Christmas will star Ralphie (Peter Billingsly) once again, who is "all grown up" and "must deal with Christmas and all that comes with it, this time as a dad," according to the streamer. The new film will take place in the 1970s, according to Variety, with adult Ralphie bringing his family to his childhood home for the holiday. "With the same attention-to-real-life tone of the first," the film's logline reads,...

It wouldn't be Christmas without 'A Christmas Story,' the 1983 movie that became an instant holiday classic thanks to its winning cast and quotable scenes. The film is as time-honored a tradition as getting your tongue stuck to a pole in freezing weather. Here's a then-and-now look at the gang from fictional Hohman, Indiana, who brought the 'original, traditional, one-hundred-percent, red-blooded, two-fisted, all-American Christmas' tale to life ...

Every year a new audience is introduced to "A Christmas Story," the 1983 movie about a Depression-era family that became an unlikely Christmas classic when TBS started playing it nearly around the clock every holiday season. Peter Billingsley memorably played Ralphie, the bespectacled blond boy who wanted just one thing for Christmas: a Red Ryder BB gun. Now Billingsley is all grown up and making movies himself, and talking in depth about "A Christmas Story" for the first time.

Just an observation. Watching it just now the "blind Ralphie" scene was cut. The movie (at least the 2 AM showing) is missing the scene after Melinda Dillon tastes the soap when it should have cut to Ralphie. Offensive to the sight-impaired I guess, not that they'd have seen it. I told you not to use "Lifebuoy." Major Award destruction. Household accident or domestic violence by proxy?
  • Former child actor remembers cinema fun of ‘A Christmas Story’

Some former child actors cringe and protest when reminded by loyal fans of long-ago projects. Not Peter Billingsley, star of “A Christmas Story.” According to journalist Rebecca Murray, “he seems to genuinely light up when the movie is mentioned.” Billingsley is also used to passersby tossing their favorite quotes at him. “They all still love it,” he told Murray. People ask him if he’s tired of talking about it, but he’s not. “I’m really, really proud to be a part of it.” Billingsley still appears in front of the cameras now and then. (He had an uncredited role in last...

WYTHEVILLE, Va. It looked like a scene out the movie "A Christmas Story." A nine-year-old boy in Virginia gave in to temptation while waiting for the school bus on a very cold day. He touched a metal pole with his tongue. His tongue stuck to the post. The Roanoke Times reports a local police officer talked to the boy at the scene while his dad got some warm water. The officer asked if the boy was going to do this again. With his tongue still stuck to the post, he said "uh-uh." The boy's dad applied the water, and the...

A sassy classic Ralphie, the lamp, the BB gun and why we love them Every year at this time we get to unwrap a gift package filled with red cabbage, BBs and fishnet stockings. It's the movie "A Christmas Story," arguably America's favorite holiday film. The 90-minute picture celebrates its 21st anniversary this year, happily planted in the middle of our pop traditions. In 2003, more than 38.4 million viewers tuned into the 24-hour "A Christmas Story" TV marathon, said the film's director, Bob Clark, by phone as he sat next to a special lamp in his Los Angeles office....

Pennsylvania Republicans are salivating over the prospects of independent Ralph Nader joining the fray for president in the Keystone State... Nader's candidacy could be a deciding factor in a close race between the major candidates on Nov. 2. Nader faces a hurdle first: His backers need to collect at least 25,697 signatures from registered Pennsylvania voters by Aug. 2 -- a project the Nader camp admits will be tough. Staff members won't say exactly how many more signatures they need, but a June report in The Wall Street Journal and other media outlets, citing campaign volunteers, said the campaign at...

Education officials are investigating a claim by an 11-year-old boy with learning difficulties that a teacher taped his mouth to stop him talking in class. Ben Deacy alleges his mouth was taped during a lesson at Llanrumney High School, in Cardiff, last Thursday. It is also claimed that the teacher involved in the incident wrote in a school report which the boy took home: "Excellent work - once I taped his mouth up!!" The boy's mother, Kay Morgan, said the teacher's alleged actions were "stupid" and added that she was now keeping Ben, who cannot read or write, home from...

The phrase "You'll shoot your eye out!" has become as synonymous with the Christmas season as Scrooge's "Bah, humbug!" and Santa's "Ho, ho, ho!" For 20 years, this warning has defined the holidays for doe-eyed nine-year-old Ralphie Parker in the movie A Christmas Story, as his mother, his teacher - and even Kris Kringle - reject his plea for one particular Christmas present. That would be, in his words, an official Red Ryder carbine-action, 200-shot, range-model air rifle with a compass in the stock "and this thing that tells time." "It catches the truth," said director Bob Clark, who spent...

A boy visiting San Angelo was shot in the eye with a BB gun in July 2001, and his mother is going to the courts for relief. According to court records, a young boy and his friend were playing with their BB guns in a living room. One of the boys pulled the trigger, documents state, but he didn't aim at his friend. The BB ricocheted and lodged into the other boys' left eye, where the fated BB remains. The mother of the injured boy filed a civil suit this week in district court against the gun manufacturer and the...
