The rape of a name can be as vicious a crime and as destructive an act as the rape of a body. Sometimes the rape of a body is worse, sometimes the rape of a name is worse. But they are both rapes. And morally likening the two is in no way meant to lessen the horror of rape; it is meant only to heighten awareness of the horror of intentionally destroying the name of an innocent person. These words are written in the aftermath of the destruction of three young men's names by a lying woman whose name is...

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has become the only presidential hopeful from either party so far to say radio host Don Imus should be fired over racial slurs. Obama Wednesday told ABC News he thought Imus should be fired and that he would never appear on the shock jock's show again. Imus faces a two-week suspension from his CBS Radio-MSNBC show following a firestorm over his characterization of the Rutgers University women's basketball team as "nappy-headed ho's." Imus has apologized for the insult. Obama told ABC if anyone on his own staff made a remark like that -- "about anybody of...

WASHINGTON -- MoveOn.org, the left-wing activist group leading the fight against Rep. Tom DeLay, has claimed there is a Republican clamor to replace him as House majority leader that does not actually exist. "Now," said an e-mail dispatched by MoveOn, "some Republicans in Congress are speaking out against DeLay." In fact, however, no Republican in Congress has criticized DeLay publicly, not even on an off-the-record basis. The e-mail also declares unequivocally that "DeLay illegally used corporate funds in support of his plan to redistrict Texas." Actually, DeLay has not been convicted, tried or even formally accused of breaking the law.
