A new poll out Sunday found a potential new frontrunner in the crowded GOP Pennsylvania Senate primary.A new poll out Sunday found a potential new frontrunner in the crowded GOP Pennsylvania Senate primary, and it’s not the daytime television star or a former Trump official who have been neck and neck throughout the contest. It’s a political commentator running on a MAGA platform without the MAGA president’s endorsement: Kathy Barnette. >According to the survey from the Trafalgar Group, one of the most reliable pollsters of the prior two presidential elections, Barnette is tied with medical TV host Dr. Mehmet Oz,...

The Turk's a jerk.Get rid of him.President Donald John Trump's endorsement of Dr. Mehmet Oz was a bewildering move that now is a national security threat. No one less than Mike Pompeo said so, and with good reason because Oz voted in the last election in Turkey!Pompeo told reporters, "Maybe it’s all innocent, [or] maybe it’s all straight up, but we and the people of Pennsylvania and the Americans who he will be representing as one of the 100 members of the United States Senate voting on important national security matters need to understand the scope and depth of his...

When Donald Trump decided to endorse long-time liberal and TV talking head Dr. Mehmet Oz in the Republican Senate primary in Pennsylvania, I wasn’t shy about voicing my displeasure. Neither were a lot of other conservatives, including many who are very pro-Trump.Exactly.This Oz thing is yet another boneheaded move. Is there anyone around Trump who can clear the office, shut the door, and tell him “Sir, you are about to make a really stupid mistake”? https://t.co/yGxMXtHtXf— Kurt Schlichter (@KurtSchlichter) April 10, 2022But while most of the responses I got to my original write-up agreed that endorsing Oz was a terrible...

Breitbart is reporting a clean sweep for all 22 Trump-backed candidates in Tuesday's Ohio and Indiana primaries. In the industrial Midwest, at least, Trump's backing is enough to sway GOP primary voters to his choices.By far the highest-profile race Tuesday was the Ohio GOP Senate primary, where a crowded field sought the nod to replace retiring senator Rob Portman as the Republican nominee. In that race, J.D. Vance, author of Hillbilly Elegy, had been in the middle of the field until he obtained Trump's endorsement, and with his backing, Vance came out on top. Here are the results at this hour...

Polls are closing in Ohio as Democrats and Republicans anxiously await the results of key primaries in a state that will likely prove pivotal in November’s midterms. For Republicans, the Tuesday primaries in Ohio are dominated by the Senate nominating contest. Former President Trump, who remains the most popular figure within the modern GOP, has endorsed author and venture capitalist J.D. Vance in the race, though Vance faces a crowded field of rivals, almost all of whom have campaigned as Trump acolytes.

His commission’s work vindicated hours earlier by judges of the state’s highest court on both sides of the aisle, University of Pittsburgh chancellor emeritus Mark Nordenberg said Wednesday evening that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s unanimous decision to uphold the newly drawn state legislative maps — the work of his reapportionment commission — made for a “very satisfying moment.” In an exclusive interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Mr. Nordenberg, chair of the Legislative Reapportionment Commission, said after an “intense and grueling process” that included 10 months of work and a touch of partisan fury over the results, he hopes his commission’s...

Every candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump in Texas’s Republican primaries have either won or are substantially leading their races as of 11:00 p.m. ET, potentially solidifying Trump’s kingmaker status in the first primaries of 2022. The 45th president gave his stamp of approval — a much coveted prize among Republican hopefuls — to 33 candidates. Polling out of Texas has already shown that GOP voters are more likely to support candidates who have passed Trump’s muster. The former president released a statement celebrating his late night victory: Big night in Texas! All 33 candidates that were Trump endorsed...

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) warned on Monday that he and his allies are willing to step into Republican Senate primaries to try to prevent a candidate they view as unelectable in November 2022 from advancing. McConnell, during an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, was asked if he and the Senate Leadership Fund, an outside group closely aligned with the Kentucky Republican, would be willing to intervene in 2022 Republican primaries. "If necessary," McConnell told Hewitt about their willingness to get involved in Republican primaries.

Liz Cheney has refused to rule out running for US president if it would prevent Donald Trump from ever taking charge of the White House again, saying she will do “whatever it takes” to stop her fellow Republican. Cheney, who on Wednesday was ousted as House Republican conference chair by her colleagues, in a voice vote behind closed doors, was asked three times on NBC’s Today show in an interview aired on Thursday whether she would run to stymie a comeback by the former president. While not saying directly that she would, she declined to dismiss the suggestion each time....

Democrats have taken note of Republicans testing the waters in New Hampshire ahead of the 2024 election — including Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), former South Carolina governor and United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo— and are lobbying that state and Iowa not hold the first primaries because the populations are too white.

“She gave the state of Wyoming the middle finger.” “He’s a traitor.” “We want a real Republican in there.” These are just some of the criticisms that Republicans have lobbed at the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump after his supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6. The criticisms haven’t stopped there, either. Trump told attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference last month to “get rid of them all.” And all but one of these 10 representatives have been publicly rebuked by state or local GOP officials. In total, nine already face a primary...

Mitch McConnell made a subtle dig at Donald Trump as he branded Republicans' losses in the Georgia Senate runoff election a 'fiasco'. The Republican alluded to the former president's baseless claims of voter fraud which tainted much of the lead-up to the crucial votes and is thought to have helped suppress GOP votes. Trump's refusal to concede split the party ahead of the runoff which resulted in the Republicans losing their Senate majority.

Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney, the third highest-ranked Republican in the House, has drawn a primary challenge just one week after she voted to impeach former President Trump over the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6. State Senator Anthony Bouchard announced his campaign against Cheney on Wednesday, noting Mr. Trump's large victory margins in the state and suggesting Cheney's "long-time opposition" to Mr. Trump and her impeachment vote show "just how out-of-touch she is with Wyoming."

In cities like Baltimore, MD, it’s not easy for a black Republican to run for office. It may sound like a cliche, but stories like this show that in these cities, the opposition will stop at nothing to maintain the status quo. This reality became even more evident during a Zoom debate between candidates seeking to become the next mayor of the city. Pastor Shannon Wright is a black Republican candidate who is attempting to end the streak of Democratic domination of the office of mayor. But, as a conservative running in a heavily blue city, she has run into...

An endorsement from President Trump – it’s the most coveted prize nowadays in Republican primary politics. And on Tuesday, the potency of a Trump endorsement in a contested GOP race was on display once again as two candidates backed by the president won their primary battles in New Hampshire, which was holding federal and state primary contests. Republican Senate candidate Bryant ‘Corky’ Messner edged out retired Army Brig. Gen. Don Bolduc in the GOP Senate primary, thanks in part to support from the president. And Matt Mowers, another Trump backed candidate, crushed his rivals in the Republican House primary in...

Kamala Harris's weak spot has always been her harsh, sleazy, Vishinsky-like record as prosecutor. She locked them up and threw away the key. She threw them in for smalltime pot offenses and then laughed about smoking pot herself, as Rep. Tulsi Gabbard pointed out in the last debate. Heck, she left them to rot there longer than their actual sentences in order to use them as cheap prison labor. She stood by phony testimony from verifiably dishonest prosecutors to keep the wrongly convicted in jail. Such a wonder woman. She packages her record as "Smart on Crime." Now that the...

The Massachusetts primary is coming up on September 1st (yes, there are still primaries taking place) and the Democratic-run state has decided to go whole hog on mail-in ballots. To say that the process hasn’t gone entirely smoothly thus far would be a bit of an understatement. The local CBS station tries to paint some lipstick on this pig by saying that “a handful of Massachusetts cities and towns” are dealing with some “issues” as they prepare for the vote, but the details suggest that there are probably quite a few snags awaiting them in the road ahead. For...
